Chapter 3

I was dressed up in my black hood, which I wore over my favorite round neckline gown that stopped right above my knees. It was my only gown without any torn parts but was quite oversized around the chest region, so the long jacket will do well to cover that. I had no good clothes anymore, as they had been either burned or thrown away by the Luna.

According to her, I was a slave so I should look like one-tattered and haggard. All the clothes I brought from my parent's house were all gone and replaced by different kinds of old and badly sewn clothes that she brought for me.

As I stood in front of the mirror, I felt frustrated, and a wave of defeat rushed through me like a wave. Anger pumped in my heart, and my legs both became weak and jelly. My reflection was far from a pleasant sight, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say I was an eyesore.

My skin hadn't been taken care of, so they almost looked pale and dead. The bones around my shoulders and jaw were all poking out of my tiny skin, giving out the clear reality of how wretched I was.

Not even my hair could make me a little bit admirable. I tried packing them and arranging them into something a little bit pretty, but they kept falling out of place, all frizzy and unkempt, with the curls so uneven.

A frustrating hiss escaped my lips as I pulled up the hood cap over my face, making sure it covered my head and cast a shadow over my face.

"Why are you suddenly so concerned about your look? You have tears rolling down your cheeks already, Hun?" My wolf pointed out in a surprising tone, and I quickly wiped my eyes, sniffing and letting out a shrug as I turned over to the exit door.

"You said we might meet our mate, and I believed what you said even when it seemed very impossible and stupid to think of, but what if you are actually right and he smells us and finds out we are his mate? Won't he reject us? Without being told, anyone who sees me will know I am a poor piece of trash who isn't even a complete werewolf. He won't like me." I breathed, hanging my head low.

"Your mate will love you even if you look like a mad woman. You are like a diamond covered in dirt. Remember how charming you were. Nothing changed. That beauty is still there, I swear!" Sienna, my wolf, soothed, and I felt like she sparked a light inside me.

"Really?" I beamed.

"Oh, yes, baby girl. Well, we might not even meet any mate out there, but the most important thing is to have a taste of freedom!" She squealed, and I laughed happily.

Just as I opened the door of my room, fear drifted in. The thought of being caught filled the back of my head, and the terror of what would happen next loomed around me like a cloud of fog.

I stepped out and shut the door, swallowing the lumps in my throat as I gave rapt attention to my surroundings. I was going to sneak out through the backyard, which has no bodyguards since it was abandoned.

I peeked around the corner, checking to make sure the coast was clear. The hallway was silent and empty, but I knew better than to let my guard down. I had to be careful and stealthy if I was going to make it out of this building undetected.

With each step, I moved cautiously, trying my best to remain as silent as possible. My mind raced, thinking of all the worst-case scenarios—being caught and the consequences that would follow.

Just as I climbed down the stairs to the second floor, heading for the next staircase, which would take me to the first floor that leads to the backdoor, I realized I was stupid to make this decision.

I stood frozen in place at the top of the steps, my heart pounding in my chest. Every nerve in my body was on edge, and I could feel sweat trickling down my back.

Up to three hefty men were there, dressed in their black suits and trousers with dark glasses. I had seen them in action before, so ruthless and unforgiving.

They stood like statues in front of the door that led to the Alpha's library along the hallway. I just needed them to be occupied by something so I could make my way to the hallways, which were at the corner.

I tried to calm myself down, to take deep breaths and steady my nerves, but the fear was just too strong.

"Hey." Someone called out from behind, and I almost slumped, my heart almost falling out as I cringed and gasped in fright.

I turned and saw that it was the maid I had issues with earlier. The one who fed my food to the dogs.

"What are you doing here, dressing like that? You're feeling cold, suddenly?" She gave me a suspicious look, grazing her eyes up and down my body.

"Yes, I am feeling cold. Do you have any problem with that? And... what's up with those ceramic jar and cups you broke?" I smirked, and she hissed at me.

"What cup?" She seethed with a grimace on her face, and I squinted at her before letting out a short laugh.

"Are you actually asking me that?" I whispered, tauntingly and she took another deep breath, struggling as she walked closer.

"You can keep a secret, can't you?" She grumbled, sneering at me.

"Yes, but not a secret from my enemy. I'm waiting for the alpha and Luna to be done with their endless meeting, so I'll report you." I snickered, and she grunted, ruffling her hair with her fingers.

"Please. The Luna dislikes me so much and will really beat me harder for this. I came here to beg you to help me take the baton, like, please, tell her that you did it. I will pay...." She stuttered, flustered and hopeless. I was never going to agree at first, but I needed her help now if I wanted to leave here.

"No long talks. Get me out of here, and when I come back, I will claim to be the one who did it." I said, not realizing the big risk I was taking.

She gasped in surprise, giving me the "I don't believe you" stare.

"You're trying to run? We know that isn't possible. You....can't go anywhere unnoticed, and the boundary will detect.."

"I'm not running, parrot. Let me just enjoy a few moments of freedom out there." I cut in.

"It's your choice, though. Are you in?" I added, and she nodded immediately.

"But...."

"No But..." I hushed her.

"I don't trust you." She whined.

"Are you such a dumbass? What do I need your trust for?!" I rolled my eyes and was about to head back when she grabbed my hand.

"I'll help you sneak out, but first remove that jacket and hand it to me. We are walking out like normal girls on duty. Since you're with me, they won't suspect you. I'll lead you to the backyard, and from there, you leave. I hope you're ready for whatever consequences you..."

" Stop talking and have it, please!" I chirped happily and stuffed the jacket in her hand, not interested in hearing whatever she was saying.

She folded the cloth in her arms and then motioned for me to follow her, and just as she had foretold, the bodyguards only gave us a little glance and looked away when they saw her.

She actually led me smoothly to the backdoor, and I was just trying so hard to push back the grins that threatened to spread all over my face. My heart was thumping in so much joy, the kind I had never felt since my mother died. It was like a wave coursing through my entire being.

"Take your hoodie; you can go, and make sure you come back earlier and unnoticed, or else, you will have yourself to blame for what comes next!" She warned me harshly and flung the jacket at me before walking away almost immediately.

I didn't think twice before dashing out wildly like a goat that had been tethered all its life and was finally set free.

All that clouded my mind was the overwhelming feeling of running along the woods and visiting my favorite stream once again, enjoying the cool warmth of nature just like before, and most importantly, meeting my sweetheart.

Mate... Kisses. lol

"Thank you for your help. He will do exactly as you instruct." Jake quickly cut in before I could say anything, as if he were preventing me from making any counters.I glanced at him with a frown, which he ignored, smiling at the man as he stood to his feet."I hope he does it because he doesn't seem like one who is willing to let go of that girl, and it is really dangerous seeing that he is the vampire prince and future king of the vampires. I thought he should know by now how dangerous it is to have such feelings for werewolves." The shaman sighed, shaking his head as he stared at me with disappointment in his eyes.He seemed to know just everything, and it's irking the shit out of me. How did Jake know about this man here? Can he read my mind too? Fuck it!"It will be hard for him, but he will definitely do it. I am guessing the girl might have used charm on him, but trust me, he has a strong will to end the forbidden romance." Jake defended with a smile, while I took a deep breath

I watched as she dragged her feet away, fear and confusion written all over her face. She couldn't stop throwing glances at me. I knew there were a lot of questions going through her head, and the fright in her wouldn't even let her say anything.I could only hear her sharp breaths as her legs shivered at each step away from me. Once she was gone, I shut the door and went back to bed. I closed my eyes and waited for sleep to take me away, but just then, I felt that hotness of the bracelet again."What is wrong with this?" I muttered in confusion, bringing it out in haste. It was glowing again, and I really didn't know why. It was like an unseen force pushed me to do it. I quickly put it on my left hand, and a wave of sensation swept through my skin, so chilling that goosebumps spread through me."We shouldn't be wearing that! What gave you the courage? Do you know if it's forbidden or something?" My wolf shouted when she saw me wear the bracelet. We had been really scared to wear it,

Selene's POVA continuous knock on my door jolted me out of my sleep as I snapped and sat up in a rush, rubbing my eyes and looking around frantically as I listened again to be sure the knock was actually on my door. I wasn't used to it. It was weird for anyone to seek permission before entering my room, as they all barged in anytime and anyhow. The knock came again, and I quickly left the bed and scurried to the door to open it for whoever it was, and my brows gathered together in surprise when I saw the so-called girlfriend of my mate standing at the door step with a tray of food in her hand. "May I come in?" She breathed, smiling abruptly, as if it were forced. "This place isn't the dining room. Why bring your food here to eat?" I questioned but she shook her head."I brought the food for you. It is yours. I guessed you might be hungry because I didn't see you join us in the dining room when we ate earlier. You had been inside this room since, so I decided to get food for you."

Jaden's POV"They are having another party tonight! How possible is that? I thought they were all gloomy and should begin to suffer from whatever curses were laid on them!" A messenger ran into the royal hall and announced it to us.We were already having meetings on how and when to attack, so this news really hit everyone like a bomb, except me, but I acted along like I knew nothing."What are you saying?! Are you sure?!" I yelled, my eyes widening as I clenched my fists. Dad and mom were both confused, and everyone present was glancing at Jake, me, and Stanley, the spy that went with us yesterday. "You must be joking! What party is it?" Jake retorted strongly."The Alpha's children returned. A boy and girl. The party is to celebrate their return, and throughout the pack, it had been really buzzing with a lot of activities and smiles on their faces. They don't look like people under curses. We expected to see them crying from one sickness or disease outbreak this morning, but none o

My name is Callan Lake, the only son of the alpha of this pack, and you know what that means? I am the future Alpha, the next heir, and the very man to take over this pack after my father and sit on that throne with everyone bowing to me.As the only son, I don't have to fight for that position. It is my birthright, and all I have to do is enjoy my life to the fullest, have everything I desire, and then become the Alpha after a few years when my father resigns. This is a life every man would dream of, especially when my appearance is an amazing work of art, so handsome and sexy that every woman would find it impossible to resist. A little smile crossed my face as I thought of this, but it all vanished the moment I remembered my mate, the girl who seemed to hate me already. I saw the glint in her eyes when she told me to reject her quickly.I expected her to be on her knees, helplessly pleading for me to accept her. As the Alpha's son, I really thought she would be crawling beneath my

I left the room in sadness, feeling the excruciating pain of his sheer rejection shooting through every vein in my heart, hot tears cascading down my cheeks endlessly as it dawned on me that I would be rejected. The horrifying stories about rejected mates that I had read in books were about to be my fate and it was like a dream."Why me?" I hissed, my legs weak and feeling like jelly as I paused in my track, replaying scenes of what I saw inside that room. For real, my supposed fated mate has been found and this is how it all happened and ends. Like a joke.My neck hurts from the tight grasp of the same man that should be my protector, and each swallow was hard and painful, but what pained me the most was the fact that it was my mate who hurt me.I hissed in frustration, feeling so angry at the moon goddess for what she just did to me. How could she offer a dickhead to me as a mate?He won't even think twice before talking about rejecting me, not even caring to know my name or who I a

  • Dangerous Romance    Chapter 17

It all started with a nightmare I never imagined—something that tore me so deeply that I wished the ground would open and bury me alive. When I reached the royal pack house, the Alpha and his Luna were in the sitting room."Go and greet your new masters and ask if there is anything they need you to do for them. They just returned and might need a slave to help them do a lot." The Luna said, scornfully, making sure to emphasize the slave she just called me. Her words really hurt, but there was nothing I could do.I thought I would one day get used to her heartbreaking abuse and demeaning comments, but each time, it hits differently and the pain continues, which she clearly enjoys. With tears threatening to fall from my eyes, I walked away, climbing up the stairs as I headed to the room. It was a room I had been cleaning every day since I became a slave here. For over a year, I cleaned the room daily, awaiting their return. I decided to meet with the son first before the daughter, whose

  • Dangerous Romance    Chapter 16

As I sat there, numb from confusion and fright, I wondered what secret he was hiding. The glint I saw in his eyes was really suspicion. It was the glint of a first time murderer staring at the body it just killed.I've never thought of my father as a bad man, nor has he given me any reason to doubt his love for me or my mother. I had always enjoyed my family and saw it as the best. Our home had always been peaceful, with everyone smiling all day.But I guess I was entirely wrong and had been made to believe the mere illusions portrayed to me. The deep hatred in my father's eyes as he spoke about my mother was so evident. There must really be something I am missing. My father knows something about what conspired between the vampire and my mother, and he really won't say it."We will know about that later, but for now, what do you think about Jaden?" My wolf broke in, her voice cheeky and lively. I smiled, dipping my hand into my pocket and bringing out the bracelet."He loves me. I saw

  • Dangerous Romance    Chapter 15

My cheeks must both be red like fresh tomatoes, and I couldn't resist licking my lips as the feeling of his soft, sensual lips lingered on my lips even when he was already gone. The kiss was very short, but the feelings were really deep, and the sensation lingered long enough that I smiled wide until I was grinning. The doctor who made the announcement was too shocked and dumbfounded to say anything. His eyes said it all as I gawked like one who had met face-to-face with a two-headed human. It was so unbelievable, not only to see that I was miraculously healed but also to witness a kiss from a vampire. He didn't say anything but left with the vampire. It wasn't until they were both gone that I sat up, and at that moment I sighted something on the floor. It was a pearl bracelet that appeared otherworldly as it twinkled from where I sat.Quickly, I left the bed and picked it up, realizing instantly that it must have fallen from Jaden's grasp. My doubt was cleared when I peeked at it c
