CHARLENE'S POV

I guess people do actually need to sleep sometimes, huh?" I laughed awkwardly. The gray wolf didn't respond and simply kept walking. After a few moments of silence, he spoke.

"So how did you make such a big commotion earlier?"

"Oh, um, well..."

"I think it would have been best if we had avoided that."

The gray wolf frowned and shook his head sadly. "It's okay. It was bound to happen eventually."

"Yeah," I murmured weakly. "But still… I hate seeing all of you suffer like that…"

"We understand." He shrugged. "Anyway, it's too late to worry about it now. Let's just go." With a sigh, I followed suit.

When we returned home that night, I was greeted by a large crowd waiting inside. Upon spotting us, they hurried over, excited chatter filling the house.

"Hey Charlene, look what I got!"

"Look who came early again today!"

"Did you see what happened?" As everyone surrounded us, Xavier stepped forward and put his arm around my shoulders. "Thanks for watching her, guys."
