Chapter 12 Tabatha came to a screeching halt in front of Moon Dance, leaving a smoking trail of burnt rubber behind her. Before she could even get off the bike, Nick was beside her with a worried look on his face. He’d seen her coming, wondering at first what idiot was driving that fast. Then he’d recognized the distinct sound of his brother’s bike. He looked her over and saw the wound across her chest still bleeding. Her expression was one of fear and distress… two things he didn’t like to see on any girl. “Warren,” Nick said touching the piece in his ear. “We got a situation.” He took off his jacket and put it over Tabatha’s shoulders before shutting off the bike and taking her through the side entrance. “I don’t know,” Tabatha heard Nick say. “All I know is she came screaming up the street on Micah’s bike and she’s hurt.” Nick got her upstairs and Warren was standing in the hall waiting for them. He quickly ushered Nick inside with Tabatha and got her seated on t
Chapter 13 Warren and Nick were getting ready to leave while Envy stayed close to Tabby. “We got everything?” Warren asked making one last check. “Yeah,” Nick answered while slipping a cartridge for a Desert Israeli Eagle in place. “I pulled out some of the heavier artillery.” Warren nodded appreciatively at the weapon and tucked a PPK into the waistband of his jeans. Envy walked over to the desk and picked up a Beretta and examined it before slipping it into the back waistband of her shorts. “Not a very good place to put one of those,” Nick said. “It’s pretty awkward to pull and fire quickly.” Envy smirked, “My brother’s a cop Nick. I picked up a few tricks from him when he’d take me to the shooting range behind the station.” Nick nodded, “Oh really?” Nick suddenly raised the Eagle shocked to find the Beretta already in his face before he could get his own weapon up to shooting level. Devon chuckled and holstered a dagger in its sheath at his waist and
Chapter 14 Steven approached Anthony’s villa and stayed hidden in the trees surrounding it while he shifted back to his human form. He used the darkness to hide himself until he reached a point right behind the guard positioned at the main gate. Steven slipped closer to the guard and raised his hands to snap the man’s neck when the wind shifted, blowing his scent in the wolf’s direction. The man suddenly spun around and lifted the automatic weapon in his right hand. Steven side-stepped the weapon and knocked it from the wolf’s grip. The wolf growled and delivered an uppercut to Steven’s chin making him stagger back a step. Steven returned the growl and grabbed the wolf by his head. The sickening sound of a neck snapping filled the quiet evening. Steven stooped, catching the wolf before he fell and dragged him back into the dark moon shadows cast by the trees. When Steven emerged, he was wearing the wolf’s black uniform and carrying the Uzi the wolf had aimed at him. Glancin
Chapter 15 Anthony carried Jewel into his master bedroom and stood her gently on her feet beside the huge bed before turning back to the door and barring it so there wouldn’t be any more interruptions. Jewel bit her lip. She had to keep Anthony believing that she loved him until she knew Steven and Micah had been released. It made her wonder, if the cougars had gotten the message and did an actual trade… would Anthony have honored it? Looking around the room while Anthony was busy with the door, Jewel wandered away from the bed and toward the adjoining bathroom. She stopped in the doorway and spied the Jacuzzi bathtub already filled with water and rose petals scattered along the surface. Without looking behind her, Jewel knew he was watching closely to see what she would do. Steeling her nerves, she walked into the bathroom while slipping what was left of the dress off her shoulders. Stopping in the middle of the room, she wiggled just a tiny little bit when the dress d
Chapter 16 Alicia and Damon had made it inside the house and found the stairs leading into the basement. They’d heard the gunfight erupt outside but paid it no mind… Alicia knew her family could handle things from that end. “Hey you,” a voice shouted. “Damn!” Damon exclaimed and started to pull Alicia down the stairs with him. They reached the basement door and Damon almost threw her in before slamming the heavy door closed and locking it behind them. “Damon, look out!” Alicia cried and Damon just barely got between Alicia and the two guards in the room in time. He gritted his teeth against the searing pain of the bullets riddling his body. The guards had been posted in the basement and, when the gunshots started going off, they’d taken up positions, ready to kill anyone that came through the door. Finally the bullets stopped coming and Damon smirked as the wolves started to back away while frantically trying to reload their weapons. Damon became a blur of movem

Chapter 1 Envy bustled around her bedroom packing some of her things into her black leather suitcase. She stopped and glared at her brother when she noticed he was unpacking her stuff every time she turned her back to get more. He’d been breathing down her neck since she came home and she was starting to get really frustrated with him. “Stop it,” Envy snapped as she jerked a handful of clothes away from him and threw them back into the suitcase. She tossed her long red hair over her shoulder and shot him a warning glare. “But moving out? You’ve only known him what… a week? Are you sure this is what you want to do?” Chad repeated like a mantra. “The answer is still the same Chad,” Envy informed him in a steady voice, wondering how many times she’d h
Chapter 2 Anthony paced relentlessly across the marble floor of his study. He ran a hand through his dark hair in frustration and anger. He knew he’d lost his temper when he killed Arthur and now he’d also lost his leverage for binding Jewel to him as his mate… not that it would stop him. He’d meant for the situation to remain calm… but when Arthur had brought up Anthony’s father, the werewolf part of him had lost it. Now he’d be forced to use coercion of a different kind on his runaway bride. The only problem was, he had to find her first. Someone knocked on the door and Anthony stopped pacing long enough to straighten his hair and clothing. He was the alpha, and with that came a certain measure of decorum. “Enter,” he called out in a cold voice. The door opened and one of his wolves stepped in, closing the door behind him. “What did you find?” Anthony asked. The pack member looked very nervous and cleared his throat. “I stayed behind just like you ordered
Chapter 3 Kriss entered the apartment he shared with Tabatha and locked the door behind him. He’d searched high and low for Dean and hadn’t found a trace of him or the demon he’d been chasing. One thing about their kind, if they wanted to hide, they knew how to vanish and leave no traces of where they were. He’d been able to sense the demon everywhere though he never saw it. It wasn’t until it was freed that he’d realized he had always been able to sense its presence. He could still feel the malicious intent of that dark personality even inside his home… it didn’t settle well in the pit of his stomach. Walking through the dark apartment, Kriss made his way back to Tabatha’s bedroom and smiled at the innocent visage asleep in the bed. She was curled up like a kitten around her favorite stuffed animal… a Yorkie dog with its tongue sticking out. The stuffed animal was the only remnant of her childhood she had left. A few years ago, she’d finally broken down and told him the st
