IAN DIAZ POV WHAT?I doubled over coughing and wheezing because the sound of that name knocked air out of my lungs. One hand rested on my chest while the other was on my knees. "You okay sir?" One of the nurses rushed towards me but I held up a hand to stop her from getting closer.Carly was here? How?"What was that you said? I think I heard you say Carly?" I asked after a minute of coughing back air into my lungs.I flicked off the small tear that made an appearance on the sides of my eyes."I'm afraid you heard right sir. We found her on the edge of the border, we're taking her to the Pack house cell.""No. Bring her to the Alpha's mansion. Not even a strand of her hair should be out of place." I commanded the patrol guard before shutting him off."Get him cleaned up, I'll be back." Hurrying out of the room, I made my way to the front door and waited for Carly to be brought in.I didn't know how to feel about her sudden return after she ran away for no real reason.I had mixed f
IAN DIAZ POVMy breath was shallow as I stood in front of the cellar that we contracted at the back of the mansion. For some reason, Jace had suggested we build it there because he suspected Lykos may feel more calm at the back of the house.Maybe it had something to do with the fresh fragrance from the flowers and the breeze that blew out back.I was yet to understand Jace's sudden interest in his backyard, when initially, he wouldn't bother about it. The mansions background was only ever used for his occasional barbeque parties and that was only because Addison insisted we use this backyard since it had so much space mass. The blood moon was out and I, with the rest of the five warriors stationed outside grew anxious as we heard the angry groans and growls of Lykos inside the cell.I stood frozen in place, my eyes fixed on the cell door. The coldness of the night didn't come close to how I felt on the inside. The cell was sealed shut with only a door and three tiny windows that co
JACE BALDWIN'S POV "I can't let that happen, Jace, not under my watch." Ian's face flushed as he stopped in front of me, blocking me from exiting the mansion's back door."You don't have to." I shrugged, even though I was trembling on the inside.I had no clue as to how tonight would turn out. If anything went south, then it might be my last day but I couldn't project my fears to anyone. No.Not even Ian who was already going all Mama hen on my rear.I had to face this however it turned out because what I don't want on my already dirty slate is more innocent blood of my people smeared over the small portion that's yet to get tainted."I know what you're thinking, man. It's not your fault that those people lost their lives. I can't keep being the only one who's fighting for this. For you to stay alive." His breathing was ragged as he glared at me, his jaw clenched as he gritted his words out."I can't take more burdens on my shoulders, Ian. Do you know what it's like to be responsi
JACE BALDWIN'S POV Three days after Addison got out of the hospital, I dropped by her place one afternoon to see how she was holding up.I wasn't surprised to see she had snapped right back to her usual self as though nothing had happened. The event of that day with Ophelia did nothing to subdue her strong spirit and persona.Addison was one person who had a great deal of effect on people and no matter what she always held her head high and that was one of the things that drew me to her."I want us to start over." Addison had said after five minutes of awkward silence that enveloped us after a pregnant pause where we both had nothing more to say to each other. She sat on the opposite side of me, her fingers fidgeting on her lap, her eyes pleading. She pushed herself to the edge of the seat, the soft leather groaning in protest, and her hands came together in front of her.She was in a sky blue striped short and a matching bra, the striped shirt that came with it was left discarded
The sound I've longed to hear. The sound I'd begged the moon goddess to let me hear every full moon since I turned sixteen. The sound of its absence made my life more miserable than that of an average werewolf or worse Omega. The sound of my bones snapping. Rearranging.I looked up and saw the moon glowing but the pain I was feeling was so great that I couldn't be distracted by the weird glowing of the moon.I released a terrified scream as a loud clap of thunder sounded from the sky, and the already heavy wind picked up speed. What was going on with the weather today?I tried to scream again but this time it came out as an agonizing groan. Everywhere in my body was hurting and the only thing I could do was thrash around in pain, my eyes squeezed tight as rain suddenly started falling hard on the earth. My chest tightened and more tears cascaded down my face and mixing with the rain. An excruciating pain in my head made me disregard the weirdly glowing moon over my head, the stormy
CARLY WOODS POV The moon was already out in the sky, standing proud and red and doing nothing to illuminate the night sky or the woods I was in.With the fire of determination burning in the pit of my stomach, I sprang to my feet, and the tree I was leaning on served as a support system. My knees wobbled a bit as I took a few steps forward but I forced them to stay steady as I progressed.I pulled the sweater I had on closer to me as the wind picked up speed, dead leaves that couldn't hold on any longer fell from trees, dead and dried out branches fell off as well, and some dried leaves on the ground got carried by the wind. The whooshing sound of the wind as it howls through trees echoed in my heart as a cold reminder of what was lost. The night grew colder and the creeping sounds of crickets could be heard, the flapping of wings from the night birds as they flew from tree to tree looking for something to feed on.I could hear the sounds of wolves howling from a distance and I knew
