She headed back to the desk, interrupting Nick and Kimber’s obviously intimate conversation.
It was still early in the day. She hoped with everything in her it would be over soon.
“Madchen!!” she heard the nauseating voice of her supervisor call her name.“Yes, Jason?” she replied curtly, giving him a glare.
Madchen’s entire body began to tremble. It was becoming increasingly hard to breathe. Any second now, she would completely melt down, giving over to the one thing she had fought so hard to contain. Soon she would be nothing but a heap of bundled nerves on the floor. Soon, everyone would see her for what she really was, a pathetic loser, as her meth head mother called her, a waste of space and food.
“I know where she is,” NIck spoke up.Madchen huddled behind the ventilators in the equipment room, with her head to her knees. It was dark in there, only the lights from the machinery bouncing off the walls.
Madchen and Nick sat on their balcony chain smoking. Coffee in one hand, cigarette in the other, they quietly enjoyed the last rays of the evening son.Thor slept at their feet, snoring like a sleeping dragon.
“I can feel it, your aura,” he admitted, “When someone you don’t like comes near you, you use it to push them away. I suspect any man that has ever approached you has felt it.”“So that’s why they never..” she trailed off before she gave herself away, but Nick already knew.
Madchen and Nick glanced at each other, Somehow, they both knew what it was.Adam led them into the kitchen, pointing to the camera system.
Drago turned to find Madchen, but she had disappeared.Madchen decided now was as good a time as any to take another cigarette break. She took a big draw, relishing when the nicotine hit her lungs. She was so engrossed in her libations, she didn’t hear someone snake up behind her.
“What??” she stammered. She couldn’t believe what she just heard. Finally he let her go, putting distance between the two of them.
