#Chapter8

Ria backed away, shaking her head. "No, he wouldn't do that." She grumbled. I sighed and ran my fingers threw my hair.

"I refuse to believe I've found my mate." I denied.

She shrugged but kept quiet. "My dad was murdered by rogues, it was obvious I would turn up and instantly, I've found my mate again." I shrieked. "It's too much of a coincidence." I protested.

That is the first time I have said out loud what happened to my dad. I have to admit it feels like a weight has been lifted.

"When you put it like that, it does sound a little suspicious" She admitted. I sighed heavily and dragged my hands down my face. "I don't know what I'm going to do," I mumbled against my hands.

She pulled my hands away and held them, "What you are not going to do is let it get to you. If it is from the potion again, we just have to careful what you take from people." She declared. I nodded and smiled at her.

"Don't let him know, you know." She attested. "That way we could find out one way or another." She added.

"I'm so glad I have you." I expressed. I dusted myself off and plastered a big smile on my face. "Right, time to go get some answers," I said matter of factly. Ria chuckled then winked at me, "Go get em wolfie." She smirked.

I chuckled to myself on my way to the packhouse. I have missed being here, and I have definitely missed being around my friends. I had friends back in Vancouver but I could never really be honest with them. They didn't know about my wolf, it's one of the laws we have. No human can ever know about us, unless a human happens to be mated to a wolf. But that's very rare and I have never heard it happen before.

I reached the packhouse and stopped in front. I haven't set foot in here since I left. This is the place I last saw my dad. The guilt was starting up again, and I couldn't breathe. I sat down on the steps, trying to catch my breath. I heard movement behind me as the door opened, I spun around and came face to face with Drew.

Drew is Ria's mate. We all grew up together. They were together before they found out they were mates, which was lucky for them.

"Amaris Thorne in the flesh," Drew smirked. I smiled and stepped up the stairs to him. "Hey, Drew." I greeted as I pulled him in for a hug.

"I am so sorry about your dad love." He whispered. I held tighter without saying anything. "They're waiting for you, just inside. Lucas sensed you." He mentioned before pulling away and giving me his killer smile.

He stepped around me and made his way down the stairs. "I'm glad you're back, Amaris." He said without turning around. I opened the door and stepped inside.

Lucas and Rhydian were stood by the stairs, talking with a she-wolf. She had her arms draped around Rhydian's waist, smiling brightly up at him. He was too busy listening to what Lucas was saying to pay attention to her.

Before I knew what was happening, I was tearing the she-wolf away from him and pushing her against the wall. Only it wasn't me, Aurora had taken full control.6

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" She growled. I growled at her, tightening my hold against her chest.

"Amaris, get off of her," Lucas shouted, running over to us. I snarled at Lucas as he tried to pull me away.

'Aurora, stop!' I yelled. 'Give me back control.'

'He's ours!' She growled. The she-wolf whimpered as her eyes went wide. Which could only mean my eyes had turned.

My eyes go black, like every wolf when our wolfs are present. But when I or Aurora gets really angry, mine turn red. I focused on Lucas, I needed to mindlink him.

"Lucas, you need to pull me off. If you can't do it, get as many wolves as it takes and get me off of this she-wolf. Aurora has control."

Within seconds, Lucas's arms were around my waist attempting to pull me away. "Rhydian, help me!" He yelled. Rhydian went to touch my arm and Aurora instantly let the she-wolf go. She fell to the floor, coughing violently. We turned around and faced Lucas and Rhydian, "Aurora, let Amaris out." Lucas demanded.

'Come on, Aurora.' I pleaded. Aurora gave me control back and I made a run for it.

I made my way into the woods with Lucas hot on my tail. "Amaris, stop!" He shouted. I stopped beside a tree and dropped to the floor. Lucas arrived in front of me and fell to his knees. He lifted my chin up, "Amaris, what was all that about?" He questioned, confused.

I shook my head and kept quiet. "I need to know why you attacked Selena," He added, sighing. I shrugged and stared at him blankly. He huffed and sat down, cross-legged in front of me. I took a deep breath and sighed, "It was Aurora." I whispered.

"Yes, I realise that. But... I don't understand why." He grumbled. I shook my head, "I don't know. I never know with Aurora." I sighed.

'Don't blame me. You know why I reacted. I couldn't help it.' She snarled. I blocked her and focused on Lucas.

"You know Aurora has a sense for wolves." I lied through my teeth. Well, not exactly... Aurora does have a sense about wolves. "You acted like a-" He stopped himself and paled.

I jumped up and glared at him. "Go on, finish that sentence," I growled. He shook his head, "I'm sorry." He apologised.

"I wouldn't know how a mate acts because every time I have had a mate, it hasn't been fucking real," I barked.

"I know. I'm sorry, I didn't think before I spoke." He answered, sadly. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes and calmed myself. "I'm sorry," I replied, hanging my head down.

Lucas came towards me and put his arm around me. "Come on, we still need to talk." He said, leading me back to the packhouse. When we reached the packhouse, Rhydian and the she-wolf were stood outside. He looked like he was comforting her. I growled lowly and clenched my fists together.

"Who is she?" I asked Lucas through gritted teeth.

"Selena Moores. She's really nice once you get to know her. You should apologise." He mumbled. I snorted and rolled my eyes.

As we got near them, they turned around and she hid behind Rhydian. I held back a growl as much as I could.

'Aurora, stop it.' I groaned.

"Listen, I'm sorry for attacking you. My wolf is on edge and she took it out on you." I said, apologising. She moved from behind Rhydian and glared at me.

"I don't accept your apology." She snarled, "Rhydian, do something. She's dangerous." She whined. Rhydian looked down at her, rolling his eyes. "Selena, she apologized." He muttered. Selena made a whimpering sound and wiped a non-existenant tear from her face. 1

"You're the Alpha. Do something." She snapped. Rhydian looked between us both and smirked. "Perhaps you don't know her." He motioned towards me, "Let me fix that." He grinned. He stepped towards me and my breath hitched. What was he going to introduce me as?
