Taylor burst out of the cafe door, her heart pounding, her heels clicking rapidly against the pavement as she hurried after Miguel. He was already reaching for the door of his red sports car when she caught up.

“Miguel!” she called, voice urgent.

He paused, turning to face her with a cold, amused expression. “Can I help you?”

Taylor stopped a few feet away, breathing hard. “What did you hear?”

Miguel’s smirk deepened. He leaned against his car, crossing his arms.

He leaned against his car, crossing his arms. “Quite a lot, actually. Maybe the fact that you’re feeding your lover with Roderick’s money… or that your bastard daughter doesn’t belong to him.”Taylor’s face drained of color. She stepped closer, voice dropping to a desperate whisper. “Miguel, you can’t tell Roderick about this. He might get rid of me. Or worse, I don’t know what he’s capable of right now. You can’t tell him — Aria will lose everything.”Miguel studied her for a long moment, his eyes cold and calculating. Then he let out a low chuckle. “Hmm. You really

Roderick stepped out of his bedroom, dressed in a sharp charcoal three-piece suit that fit him perfectly. His hair was styled neatly, the dark strands falling just right, giving him that effortlessly powerful look. He adjusted the cufflinks on his wrists as he walked into the living room where Grey was already waiting with a tablet in hand.“Schedule,” Roderick said in a brisk voice. Grey cleared his throat and began reading. “You have a meeting at 9 with the factory workers concerning the new formula for the wine production line. Then at 11, a meeting with Apex Distillers who want to partner with us on distribution. Finally, you were invited to the 26th Annual Crown Legacy Gala as a VIP guest this weekend.”Roderick paused mid-step, fixing his other cufflink. “The Crown Legacy Gala? Decline the invitation. I’m not interested in going.”Grey hesitated. “Boss, you’ve rejected their invitation every year for the past five years. It might start looking bad if you keep turning them down

(Roderick's Villa)Aria pushed open the front door of the villa and stepped inside, her little backpack still on her shoulders. The moment she saw Taylor descending the stairs, her face lit up.“Mommy!” she called, running straight to her with open arms.Taylor knelt down on the last step and caught her daughter in a tight hug, wrapping her arms around Aria’s small body. She kissed the top of her head, breathing in her familiar scent.“Did you have fun with Daddy?” Taylor asked, pulling back slightly to look at her face.“Yes!” Aria said excitedly, nodding vigorously. “We went to my favorite restaurant and ate nice food and ice cream. I also had lots of fun with Adrian!”“Adrian?” Taylor’s smile froze on her face. She squatted fully so she was at eye level with her daughter, her hands resting on Aria’s shoulders. “Daddy took both of you out?”Aria nodded happily. “Yes. We played together. He’s nice.”Taylor’s expression darkened. Irritation flashed in her eyes, but she quickly masked

It was recess time at Sunshine Academy. Adrian sat alone at a small table in the corner of the playground, staring down at his lunch box with a deep frown. His little eyebrows were furrowed tightly, lips pushed out in a pout. He looked exactly like a miniature version of Roderick when he was angry– face squeezed up, arms crossed over his chest, refusing to touch his food.Aria skipped over with her own lunch box, plopping down on the bench beside him.“Are you going to keep frowning? You look like Daddy with the way you’re squeezing your face.” She said, giggling as she opened her box. “I’m so angry right now, Aria.” Adrian kept frowning harder.“What is it? Did your momma scold you?” Aria asked, already digging into her sandwich.“Not really… but I’m angry at Momma too.” He mumbled, kicking his legs under the table.“What happened?” Aria took a big bite, chewing while watching him.“Momma is always hanging out with Miguel and I don’t like it.” Adrian said, voice full of three-year-

Roderick pulled to a stop outside Camille’s house and killed the engine. The car fell silent. He glanced at her where she sat, unbuckling her seatbelt with slow movements.“Would’ve loved to say hi to Adrian, but he might be asleep.” He said quietly.“Next time then.” She replied, reaching for the door handle.Roderick’s hand shot out, gently catching hers and stopping her. She turned to look at him, eyebrows raised.“What?” She asked.“You’re not going to act like that didn’t happen a few minutes ago.” He said in a low tone.“What are you talking about?”“Don’t play ignorant, Camille. I’m talking about the kiss.”“Kiss? What kiss?” She tried to pull her hand away, but he held it gently.“I didn't know you would do that.” He said with a small, tired smile. “But… why did you kiss me though? I wasn’t expecting it.”“I wasn’t in my right mind, so forget it,” She said, looking away.“Forget it? How can I forget it?” Roderick’s voice softened, almost pleading. “You’re the one confusing me

Roderick was done for the day. It was already 5:30 pm. He had been supposed to leave much earlier, but he had spent the last half the time sitting at his desk, staring at his phone, trying to summon the courage to call Camille. Every time he picked it up, his thumb hovered over her name, and the courage died. He couldn’t do it. He was too afraid of what she might say — that she was busy, that she was still with Miguel, that she didn’t want to see him.He finally gave up, grabbed his coat, and left the office. He rode the elevator down to the lobby in silence. When the doors opened, he walked across the reception and stepped through the main exit of the building. He stopped dead in his tracks.Camille was standing right there at the entrance, back turned to him, checking her watch. Her hair moved slightly in the evening breeze.“Camille?” He called, voice rough with surprise. She turned around. Her hair flipped gracefully as she did, and she looked at him with a small, knowing smile.
