MasukTiffany’s POV
I gaped at him. In daylight he looked even more handsome, the clothes he wore looked like they had designer labels and fit him like a model. I wondered how he’d look without them. Behave! He’s the enemy. I reminded myself. “What are you doing here?” I frowned. “I came to take my fiancee to lunch.” He smiled. I was about to tell him where to go stick his lunch, but remembered Lynn was standing at the door. “I'm not going to lunch thank you. I’ve work to do.” I said, forcing myself to be polite. “There are no patients booked for this afternoon Dr. Baxter, you can go to lunch.” Lynn added unhelpfully. Andy’s grin widened. “You see babe, you’re free. Let’s have lunch. We have wedding plans to make.” I gritted my teeth behind a tight smile, then stood up. My fist tightened around my purse and I wished it was around Andy Harris’s neck. Lynn was staring at him like he was some movie star and I tried not to roll my eyes as I walked up to him. He put his arms around me. I shuddered. Not sure if it was from excitement or disgust. Definitely disgust. “Come babe, let me fill your little stomach.” He said mischievously. I clenched my fist. The bastard hadn’t changed. He loved to piss me off. I waited till we were safely in the car park, then threw his arm off. “What the hell do you think you’re doing you asshole? Haven’t you complicated my life enough?” I fumed. “If you’re talking about the news currently blowing up social media, I had nothing to do with that. If you must know, those pictures have put me in a jam, which is why I’m here. I need to talk to you about that night.” “If you think I owe you eternal gratitude because you managed to act like a decent human being for once in your life, think again!” “I'm here to offer you a deal.” He snapped. “What? My cake for your soda which you spiked with vinegar?” I asked, referring to a highschool prank he’d once played on me. He blushed. “No. Look, I’m sorry about that, but we’re not in high school. I’m an adult now.” I snorted. “Yeah right!” “I am. Will you hear me out. It's important, otherwise I won’t be here. Believe me you’re the last person I want to see right now.” “Same here. What do you want? Make it quick.” “I want to offer you a business proposal. It's big money. Enough for you to expand your clinic and have time for your charity work.” “How the hell do you know about all that?” I asked suspicioussly. “I looked you up on social media.” “So you’ve added online stalking to your psycho resume?” “No. I’m a business man. I’m supposed to look into those I want to do business with. Make sure I there’s nothing about them that could embarrass me.” “Get to the point. What deal are you offering?” I asked impatiently, ignoring his snide remark. “Let’s get engaged.” I stared, the shock evident on my face. He held up his hand. “Hold on, don’t look at me like that. Hear me out. I need a fiancée to secure my CEO position at Harrisco.” I kept staring, not knowing whether to laugh or bite him. “You want us to get engaged? That’s the important deal you’ve been talking about?”I asked not believing my ears. “You're joking right? This is another one of your crazy pranks?” “No. I’m dead serious. We’ll pretend to be engaged. I’ll need your service for a month,” Andy said, “once my position in the company is secured we won’t see each other again and I can assure you, I won’t regret it.” I stared at his stupid arrogant face, wishing I could punch away that annoying smirk, or kiss it away. I cringed, surprised where such a thought had come from. Perhaps it was a sign not to agree to this crazy arrangement. “No thank you. I’d rather ride naked on horseback through the town than pretend to be engaged to your stupid NeANDYrthal ass.” I said scornfully. He glared at me then stomped off. I was enjoying his anger when a message came into my phone. I read it and my heart sank. It was from my dad. Remember, dinner tonight at 8pm with your fiance. Damn! Talk about timing. Maybe I should listen to fate. “Wait!” I called to Andy. He turned. “What? Aren’t you done insulting me?” I sighed heavily. “I’m in.”Tiffany’s POV “You’re scared of heights?” Andy asked skeptically. “Yes I am. And if you’d bothered to ask, you’d have known that.” “But in high school I remembered you once climbed an elm tree to retrieve my jacket.” He reminded me. “That was because you would have gotten into trouble without the jacket.” I snapped. He looked surprised. “You hated heights but climbed anyway because of me?” I felt like a deer caught in the headlights. “No. Of course not. I climbed to prove a point. You said I couldn’t, so I wanted to prove I could.” “Really?” He smirked. “Yes. Really. And don’t change the subject. I'm not going hot air balloon riding tomorrow.” “Please Tiffany, Aunt June loves it and wants us to join her.” “Tell her to forget it. Courtesy demands you should have asked me first.” He sighed. “You’re right. I’m sorry. Please would you come? It’ll be good for our happy couple image.” I rolled my eyes in exasperation. “If I get air sick I’ll do it down your shirt
Tiffany’s POV Andy looked confused. “I don’t know –“ he stopped. “You don’t?” I asked skeptically. “Actually I do. Bethany was in the car this afternoon-“ “Is that so?” I asked coldly. “Look it’s not what you think. I met her outside my office and she asked for a lift, so I dropped her off. Nothing else happened.” “Yet you didn’t think to tell me, and probably won’t have told me if I hadn’t found this here?” “I would, it just slipped my mind.” “What else slipped your mind? The hotel room you both got?” I spat. His eyes widened in embarrassment. “We didn’t get a hotel room. I just gave her a lift. There’s nothing going on between us.” “I don’t care. Just remember she’s no different from Justin, whatever she’s up to it isn’t good.” “I told you I just gave her a ride. Nothing else.” "Whatever.” I said and stepped out of the car. “Let me walk you to your apartment.” “I can find my way.” I snapped. I walked into my apartment, still mad. This was the second ti
Tiffany's POV The auction began and I looked around, wondering who would bid on the sculpture I'd fallen in love with. “Are you bidding?” I asked Andy. “No, why do you ask?” “Nothing. Just wondering if you wanted to acquire something, like that sculpture.” I said, pointing to it. He grimaced. “Why the hell would I want such a thing?” “Because it’s beautiful.” He laughed. “It has teeth, sure you’d find it beautiful.” “It is.” He kept laughing. “Go to hell.” I hissed, turning away from him. I should have known he’d be an ass about it. “I need water, do you need anything?” He asked. “Yes. For you to jump off a bridge.” I snapped. Grinning, he walked out. The bidding continued. I occasionally caught Kelly, Glenn, and Justin giving me smug glancing and I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. Andy came back as bidding for the sculpture I’d been eyeing was about to start. But to my surprise it stopped abruptly. We were told It had been bought by a pers
Tiffany’s POV At work the next day I couldn’t stop thinking about last night, when Andy had walked me to my door. He’d almost kissed me, I was sure of it, and I smiled whenever I thought of it. “You’re imagining things,” a part of my mind whispered to me, "you hate him, remember?” I would have said yes, but now I wasn’t so sure, especially now I could see how sincere he was in keeping the promises he’d made last night. My thoughts were interrupted by Lynn announced Fred was here to see me. “What? Why?” I demanded. “He won’t say.” I wanted to tell her to ask him to leave, but changed my mind. “Send him in.” Let me see what he wants, I thought. “Hey Tiffany, you look great, as usual.” He said walking in. “What do you want Fred?” I asked angrily. “To see you, why are you mad?” “Because I don’t want to see you." “Please hear me out.” “Start talking.” “It would be a lot better if we could go somewhere and talk. Please Tiffany.” “If you thin
Andy’s POV I waited nearly ten minutes before Tiffany joined me in the car. As usual she looked beautiful in a green evening dress. But I also noticed she looked worried. “Everything okay? You’re unusually late.” I said. “Everything is fine.” She murmured. “Are you sure? You look worried. Did that jerk Fred Castle bother you?” She raised her eyebrows at me. “Jealous?” She asked. “Of him? No. Of course not.” “You sound jealous.” She said, smiling mischievously. “Well I’m not. I just want to know why you looked worried. This meeting is too important for you to be distracted by anything.” “So your concern for me is because of the meeting?” “Sure. What else?” Liar! A small voice screamed at me, but I ignored it. She glared at me. “Good, because I don’t need your concern.” She said. “But something is on your mind,” I said softly, “tell me.” “I”m just a little nervous. I’ve a reputation to protect. I don’t want this job to ruin it.” “How?” “I
“I can’t believe this,” Cynthia exclaimed, “so the bitch is truly dating Andy Harris?” “I thought she was lying, especially since she kept postponing the dinner.” Sophia sighed. “This is so disappointing. I was hoping for a chance to make fun of her.” It was a Wednesday morning and the four women, Cynthia, Sophia, Penny, and Bethany were in the Baxter mansion discussing Tiffany’s visit. “The engagement may not even be real,” Bethany put in. “I know they hated each other in high school. Andy won’t date Tiffany unless he was paid.” “Maybe she’s paying him to pretend to be her boyfriend.” Sophia suggested. “With what? Platinum?” Cynthia asked sarcastically. “Andy Harris is Jake Harris’s son. They’re worth billions. What does that wretch have to offer him?” “She managed to open a clinic. She may be doing better than we thought. Which isn’t fair. She was supposed to be miserable.” Bethany pouted. “She will be, I promise you I’ll make sure this happily ever after is over fast.
