INICIAR SESIÓN"A month," Andy said, "once my position in the company is secured we won't see each other again and I can assure you I won't regret it." I stared at his stupid arrogant face, wishing I could punch away that annoying smirk, or kiss it away. I cringed, surprised where such a thought had come from. Perhaps it was a sign not to agree to this crazy arrangement. "No thank you. I'd rather ride naked on horseback through the town than pretend to be engaged to your stupid ass." I said scornfully. He glared at me then stomped off. I was enjoying his anger when a message came into my phone. I read it and my heart sank. "Wait!" I called to Andy. He turned. "What? Aren't you done insulting me?" I sighed heavily. "I'm in." “This is so good,” my date said, stuffing his mouth full with chocolate muffins. “Have a to-go order ready for me, will you babe?” I gritted my teeth and nodded with my head down. I was too ashamed to look up and discover the number of café patrons staring at his embarrassing behavior. He has no knowledge of table manners, or anything else either, but he won’t shut up. It was taking every ounce of my patience not to perform an emergency tracheotomy on him just to make him stop talking. His name was Kevin. He was a second-tier fitness influencer, wore a linen shirt unbuttoned one notch too far, and possessed the emotional intelligence of a dust rag. “So, Tee,” Kevin said, leaning forward and flashing a blindingly white, veneered smile. “Let me get this straight. We show up to your cousin’s wedding on the twenty-third. I wear a tailored tux, which you’re funding, obviously, and I talk about how my lifestyle brand is about to hit five million followers. That’ll really shut down your ex, right?” I took a slow, deep breath, trying to keep my temper. “First of all, Kevin, my name is Tiffany. Second, the goal isn’t to promote your supplement line. The goal is for you to pass as a respectable, intelligent human being who is genuinely devoted to me, so my family stops treating me like a disgraced pariah.” “Right. I can do that.” He burped loudly, not bothering to cover his mouth, a passing waitress frowned in disapproval. I reddened in shame. “They’re treating you like that because of the photo leak thing right?,” he continued biting into another muffin, “Honestly, babe, you shouldn’t even be embarrassed. Controversy sells. I’m sure you know that, that’s why you leaked them in the first place.” “I did not leak them.” I said firmly, looking him in the eye. He continued like I hadn’t spoken. “Besides , the pics weren’t bad at all. From what I saw, you have a hot body. I hope you’ll let me find out if I’m right.” He leered at me. I’d had enough. “Check, please,” I called, raising two fingers toward the waiter. “Wait, we haven’t even ordered dessert!” Kevin blinked, looking genuinely shocked. “Does this mean I didn’t get the gig? Come on, babe. Okay I can tone down the influencer stuff! I’ll even let you pretend you bought my watch!” “Kevin,” I said, my voice icy. “If you don’t walk out of this restaurant in five seconds, I’m going to detail every single health violation present in your ‘wellness’ supplement lineup and post it on LinkedIn. Now get out.” He shot out of his chair like it had nails, grabbed his folder, and scrambled out so fast he nearly tripped over the valet stand. I sighed heavily and slumped back against the booth, rubbing my temples as a headache bloomed behind my eyes. Another disastrous audition. The third to be exact, and they kept getting worse. I’d have to stop before the next one would send me to jail for manslaughter. What was I thinking? This whole fake boyfriend thing was a bad idea. But when my friend Rosie had suggested hiring an actor off a gig app, I’d been so desperate I’d accepted. It wasn't going according to plan. I'd have to go alone to the wedding. I cringed. The thought of walking into Fred and Penny’s wedding alone, while the entire family whispered behind their champagne glasses terrified me. I won’t survive the humiliation, and they’d really make sure to rub it in. But not going would be worse. They would humiliate me with that too. My head was heavy with the weights of my conflicting thoughts as I drove back to work. I was late. I hated being late, and it annoyed me to realize I was late because I’d been entertaining a clout-chasing narcissist who saw my deepest public trauma as a content opportunity. I shook my head in disgust. “Don’t give up Tiffany. They has to be a way.” I told myself. But by the time I drove into the car park, I still had no answers. Then to crown the worst afternoon ever, I heard someone calling my name. My heart sank as I recognized that voice of doom.Tiffany’s POV I was on my third drink at the Coastal Bar when Rosie called. “Well? How did it go? Is he the one?” She asked eagerly. “I’ve no idea. He was a no show.” I said. We were talking about Tim, a guy she’d arranged to meet me that evening, after I’d called to tell her how desperate my situation had become. The meeting was at 7pm, it was nearly 10pm and still no sign of him. “Have you tried calling his number?” She asked. “Straight to voicemail.” “What the fuck is wrong with him? When I told him how smart and sexy you were he was eager for a meet. What went wrong?” I sighed. “Who knows? But he’s not here.” “Don’t worry. It’s his loss. I’ll find someone else. Don’t worry Tiff, you’ll get a fake fiance come hell or high water.” I thanked her and hung up with a sigh, wishing I shared her optimism. There was no doubt now, I was going to end up a family laughing stock. The thought of the names they’d call me made me drink even more. By the time I

Andy’s POV I was three seconds away from throwing a $4000 bottle of Chateau Margaux directly through the floor-to-ceiling glass of the private dining room, when my date finally walked in. I clenched my fist, trying to suppress my annoyance. She was a good twenty minutes late and I hated waiting around. She sat down without offering any apology and signalled to a waiter. I watched as she ordered the most expensive meal on the menu, then dessert. My eyes widened. Who orders dessert without eating the main meal? Was she eccentric or was this a red flag? “So,” she said, finally turning to me as she waited for her order. “You’re a billionaire?” I nodded. “Good, I don’t date broke men.” “I'm not surprised.” I said dryly. “My family is rich.” She boasted. “I have standards. My last boyfriend bought me a Mercedes for my birthday. I expect you to do better.” I tried not to roll my eyes. Her only connection to wealth was the niece of a miserly oil tycoon. Her name was
Tiffany's POV I gaped, shocked speechless.“Tiff? Hello? Are you there?” Rosie asked.“How…how did this get online?” I stammered.“You didn’t post it?”“No! Of course not. I took them a couple of days ago to send to Fred as a surprise, but I didn’t. I deleted them. How did they get online?”“Maybe you pressed the send button by mistake?”“I did not. I would never post such pictures.”“Well it’s out there, what are you going to do? We better think of something fast before your family see it.”“Too late. My dad just ordered me home sounding pissed. Now I know why.”“Want me to come give morale support?”“No. I’ll handle it. I'll explain to my dad. He knows I’d never do this.”How wrong I was. My dad was pacing the living room when I got home, he was hopping mad and refused to even let me explain.“How could you be so shameless Tiffany? Are you so desperate for attention you have to act a slut?” Huge Baxter yelled at me.My stepmother Cynthia sat on the couch, hiding her face in her pa
