(Bright’s POV)
“What the fuck are you talking about?” I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Something so evil? What is he going to do? He’s going to pull off his little magic trick and make everyone vanish in this party?Cole didn’t answer. He just looks over his shoulder, scanning the room like he’s watching for someone. His jaw tightens, and before I can press him further, he grabs my arm and pulls me into a dark corner behind a column.“Stay quiet,” he whispered.I try to protest, but he steps closer. His body is practically pinning me to the wall. My eyes widened in surprise. My heart is racing exaggeratedly, and not in the way it usually does when I’m nervous. This is different. His scent is so close—something woodsy and clean—and I hate myself for noticing.“Cole, what—”“Shh,” he cuts me off, nodding toward the party.I follow his gaze and spot a man standing just a few meters away, answering a call. He’s well-dressed, older. I think I’ve seen(Cole’s POV) “Are you sure you want to announce his disappearance, Master Cole?” Isaac asked for who knows how many times already. He has been following me like a shadow since I told him that I’m going to stop the wedding and tell them the truth. That Bright has been abducted. He suggested that we just postpone it by making up false reasons, saying that it could just worsen the situation once negative rumors spread to the community. But I wanted to be honest to my allies who really took their time and effort just to find us on this lone island in the Bahamas. Besides, I might even get a hand in finding Bright. I have already sent my men to search for him. However, none of them has returned with good news. This is getting serious. I’m starting to suspect that this was planned. But who? Who would betray me? I stood at the front of the church with my jaw tight. I could feel my hands clenched into fists as I thought a
(Third Person’s POV) The glam-up team is filled with excitement as they approach Bright’s vanity room. Today is the grand wedding, and they are all excited to make sure that Bright will look his best tonight. Cole had just paid them five times their normal commission just to make sure Bright looked perfect. And it’s not like they don't like Bright for them to not make it happen. They think of him as a doll they could dress up like a princess. He is very beautiful. *Tok* *Tok* *Tok* Lila, the lead hairstylist, knocked on the door with a huge smile plastered on her face. She looks more excited than the person who is about to get married. “Mr. Bright! We’re here to make you look fabulous!” she chimed outside the door. The rest of their group giggled to themselves. However, a few seconds later, there was still silence in the air. They glanced at each other confusedly. Bright had sent them a message that he’s
(Bright’s POV) If you told me five years ago that a day would come that I'd marry a mafia boss, I’m gonna laugh in your face like a damn lunatic. Nothing gave me the slightest clue that this was about to happen. Me and marriage are just two different words that shouldn’t be really together, you know? Aside from my sister, I never really thought about getting old with someone else. It’s just the way I am. But everything changed when I met Cole. Ever since he came into my life, there was never a day that I felt alone. Empty, yeah. Whenever he's at work, and has to do business. But he never really gave me reason to feel like I’m going to be dealing with things all by myself. I know that he’s always going to have my back. And that’s what brought me exactly to this moment of my life. I stared at the baby blue suit hanging in front of me. It’s beautiful. Even more beautiful than the last suit I wore the first
(Bryan’s POV) I place the cup of chamomile tea on Lord Roberto’s desk. The rich sweet scent of it fills the four corners of his office as I stand silently beside his table. He barely looked up from, his eyes tucked on the papers in front of him, but I know he appreciated the gesture. This is the reason why I kept doing this for the past twenty seven years of my life. I’m still hoping that maybe, just maybe, he'll finally see me as his son. I’m tired of him shoving to my face how much he favors Cole over me. I understand that I could never replace him as his successor. He's smarter and stronger than me. He knows how to negotiate with the enemies. He knows how to create alliances. He's the perfect heir to his position. Maybe, I should just accept the fact that he’s always going to be better than me. "Did you take your meds?" I asked, looking at him despite his negligence. Father started taking maintenance
(Bryan’s POV) I leaned against the car seat, while my fingers were busy drumming on the wheel. Bright's face keeps flashing in my mind. That pissed-off glare, the way his lips parted like he was about to curse me out but held back. The way his eyes softened—just a little—when he talked about his sister. I get it now. I get why Cole’s losing his damn mind over him. Bright has this... pull. Something that makes you want to protect him, even when you know he doesn’t need it. It’s annoying as hell. But let’s be clear, I’m not Cole. I’m not stupid enough to fall into that trap. And there’s no way in hell that I’m gay. Still, I guess I should thank Bright for driving Cole insane. That little distraction works in my favor. At least, I know that he’s contributing in ensuring my spot.I don’t If Lord Roberto is choosing a successor, I know exactly who he’ll pick. Me. I smirked to myself and pul
(Bright’s POV) The entire time that I was in Bryan’s car, you’d be surprised because he’s actually quite nice. He’s just a little haughty sometimes. But he’s definitely a good guy… I guess. He would tell me stories about him as a child. I learned from him that Cole is actually his half brother. They’re from different mothers. And if you’re curious how that happened, I don’t know. I didn’t ask. I thought he’d tell me if he wanted me to know. Nevertheless, I learned a lot from him, especially why their father taught me so much. It turned out that Lord Roberto is actually thinking of passing the position to either of them. That explains the tension between Cole and him. There’s obviously a competition. I’m just starting to realize how serious Cole really is about marrying me. He’s willing to turn his back from his father and to the potential fortune that he might inherit. I won’t be surprised if it’s Bryan that Lord Roberto will choose
