“Queen Luna doesn't seem ready to give up the throne,” Jazreal’s voice reaches me and my whole body goes rigid.

“I never expected it to be like taking candy from a baby,” Nicholas retorts in a cool voice that sends chills down my spine. “That will only make my mission boring.”

“She's been insisting to the elders and the council that you are not yet fit to handle the position,” Jazreal inputs. “She seems adamant about keeping you out of the loop.”

“There’s one thing I'm grateful for about being her son,” Nicholas utters, a pause following, curious if they are whispering, I lean the side of my face on the door in a bid to catch the next sentence.

“And that is?” Jazreal implores after a few seconds.

“The fact I inherited her stubborn genes,” Nicholas goes on to say. “I just hope she's ready for the war she's trying to start.”

“I can't fathom how a mother could be this evil to her child,” Jazreal sighs and a sad emotion washes over me the more listen.
