“Queen Luna doesn't seem ready to give up the throne,” Jazreal’s voice reaches me and my whole body goes rigid. “I never expected it to be like taking candy from a baby,” Nicholas retorts in a cool voice that sends chills down my spine. “That will only make my mission boring.”“She's been insisting to the elders and the council that you are not yet fit to handle the position,” Jazreal inputs. “She seems adamant about keeping you out of the loop.”“There’s one thing I'm grateful for about being her son,” Nicholas utters, a pause following, curious if they are whispering, I lean the side of my face on the door in a bid to catch the next sentence.“And that is?” Jazreal implores after a few seconds.“The fact I inherited her stubborn genes,” Nicholas goes on to say. “I just hope she's ready for the war she's trying to start.”“I can't fathom how a mother could be this evil to her child,” Jazreal sighs and a sad emotion washes over me the more listen.“She killed her own mate, Jazz,” he
Morning light brushes my lids, inciting me to groan and murmur unintelligible words in protest as it tries to disrupt my plan to sleep longer. The sun doesn't seem to understand the words I uttered in protest as it seems to keep doing its job.In an attempt to escape, I threw my arm over my face, a thankful sigh leaving my lips as it does a perfect job of blocking my vision. My arm happens to be uncomfortable despite doing its job causing me to adjust my position a tad to relieve the discomfort.I feel something warm rub my back and shoulders but don't think more about it hence I have only one decision in mind and that is to go back to slumber. A minute later I am getting lost in the darkness of sleep when I'm pulled out seconds after by a knock on the door.Cursing at my luck in my head I squeeze my lids tightly and hold in the urge to match to the door and scream at whoever is doing such evil. The sound comes again as the person repeats the knocking action.I fold my body in a fetal
There is silence for some moments as the eight of us arrive at a large metal gate. Nicholas suggested as we left the house that we trek it hence the distance from his mansion to the pack lands is a stone's throw away.My hand in his I gape at the barrier, the metal painted a black shade and a realistic drawing embedded on it. The silver strokes are done perfectly to form a picture of two wolves facing each other, blue eyes locked, bones taut as they stand poised."What do you see?" His thick voice asks from my left and I turn slightly to face him, a brow raised in confusion. "I mean at the gate.""Oh," I let out and divert my attention back while I heed footsteps approaching from the other side. It crosses my mind he must have informed them of his presence through their mind link."So?" He tilts his head to stare down at me due to our significant height difference.Squinting my lids to make sure I'm not seeing something different or missing anything, I answer. "Wolves.""It's obvious,
Mrs Marietta Lazarus reaches out for my hand and I place my right palm in hers. I smile to show I am not afraid and that I am following all that is going on. She leads me to the inner room, a big room that could be used for a ball ceremony. The inside looks ancient and the members of the board are seated around the big mahogany table. All faces draw to me as I see different emotions like I was about to enter the room. I feel like I could run away from there, with Nicholas by my side; I feel very shy.“What a beautiful lady you are”, said Mrs. Lazarus as she smiled and sat on her chair, or throne if I could say. The throne is the biggest in the room; made out of iron and gold. One can see the gold glow from within the iron. It is a beautiful sight to behold. “But isn’t it too quick for you to have a mate?”Nicholas stands up and scoffs. His face is down but gains confidence and raises his head back up. He sighs and looks around. He must have missed the pack lands; a place where everyon
R 14“Pass! Pass!” A loud voice rang across the football field. It is sports day in GREENWORLD HIGH SCHOOL. Students are busy as they are being called by their coaches to turn up quickly in their respective sports.Mason is a teenager in 11th grade who is part of the football team. He is the one being called to pass the ball as he dribbles 4 players and puts the ball in the top right corner of the goalpost. Mason is one of the best athletes in school but is sometimes trolled by his peers for not passing the ball. “If I had passed it, you would have missed it! And you weren’t even in a good position!” He would say. Mason has poor parents who can’t afford to send him to GREENWORLD HIGH SCHOOL. Guess what…he’s on a lifetime scholarship! Being a good footballer never stops him from getting the best grades. He is sure to get the best grades every year as other students leave him and fight for the second best instead. He has no rival. Mason always has this kind of scoffing-every-time expres
“Is there anything I don’t know again?” Mason asked Thomas who is increasing his speed with every step as they rush out of class. “Tom!” Mason yelled loudly it caught the attention of everybody around as they focused on them.People start to drive attention away when they don’t talk for a while. That’s high school for you. Students pay attention when you cause a commotion. It’s better to keep quiet until they all leave when you have nothing to say. Everyone wants to have a video of their mates quarreling.“Alright”, Thomas said, sighing “Steph, Jaime, Cassandra, and Edmund are werewolves. Done?” He moves away from Mason and heads to the hall.Mason rushes over to Thomas and holds his jacket. “What? You mean you’re not the only werewolf here? Is this a medieval school or something?”Thomas's eyes begin to rage and as he clenches his fists and stamps his feet. “Yeah, boy. You know now. Next time you won’t poke your nose in something that isn’t your business. For now, just focus on yours

“My mother knows Mason is a werewolf?” Nicholas asked, sitting on a sofa.“Yes”, Jazreal answered. “I just had to. She’ll find out if I don’t and it isn’t gonna be good”.There is a pause. Nicholas stands up and starts to pace. “We have to choose sides”, he said.“I advise we just sit down and watch”, Charlotte said, folding her arms. The atmosphere becomes tense as Nicholas moves closer to her and frowns.“You suggest I stay back and do nothing?” Nicholas asked with his fists clenched. I move closer to him and place my hand on his chest for him to calm down. He finally heaves a sigh of relief.“Yes”, Charlotte said, looking serious. “We all know how dangerous the Luna is. Which side are you choosing by the way?”I look at Nicholas, expecting a positive answer “What positive answer?” I thought. “I don’t know if Matthias is just as evil as the Luna, or even worse. I guess he should follow Charlotte’s advice”.Nicholas scoffs and lets go of me. He looks at everyone in the room one by on
