ANTHONY’S POV

The second Elisha stepped out of the car with the signed divorce papers clutched in her hand, I knew I’d made a huge mistake.

I didn’t even blink as I watched her walk away. But something burned behind my ribs. Something I didn’t want to name.

The ride back was quiet. Heavy. No music. No thoughts I wanted to keep. Just the sound of the engine and the pressure behind my eyes. My hands were clenched too tightly around the steering wheel the entire time. Every red light gave me too much time to think.

Of course, I didn’t want it to be over.

Of course, I wanted it to work out.

Not because Grandad wanted it. Not because it would make the family proud. Not because it kept the legacy clean.

Because I loved her.

Truly.

But I couldn’t say it. Couldn’t even think it without feeling like I was betraying something inside me.

My father had told my mother he loved her every day of their marriage. Held her hand at parties. Kissed her cheek in front of guests.

Three weeks after her fune

ANTHONY’S POVI stared her down, the words she’d said ringing like a siren in my skull.I knew I was right to leave you. She’d meant it. Said it without blinking. Without faltering. Without even the dignity of hesitation.A million thoughts fought for space in my head, chaotic, loud, vicious. How could she say that? After everything? After all the nights we shared? After I’d gone out of my way to punish Yasmin and Damian, the ones who humiliated her?Did she not see that all of it was for her? While I was pulling strings behind closed doors to make her enemies bleed, she was out watching movies and eating burgers with some third-string socialite, smiling like she forgot I ever existed.Did she really not love me anymore? Was she done with me? Was I just… noise now?I drove in silence. Every streetlight we passed painted her face with a different emotion—anger, resignation, disgust. I couldn’t tell which one stayed longest. She stared out the window. Not one glance toward me. Not eve

ELISHA’S POVThe lobby of the police station buzzed with fluorescent lights and low murmurs—tired officers dragging paperwork between desks, a crying woman at the far end of the room, someone on a bench trying to sleep upright. Then the doors slammed open.Anthony.He strode in like he owned the building. Hair still immaculate, coat swinging slightly behind him, fury etched into every line of his body. His voice cut across the room, low and sharp.“Where is she?”One of the officers—tall, broad, clearly tired of the night already—stepped in his path.“Sir, I’m going to need you to lower your voice.”“I’m looking for Elisha Montgomery,” Anthony said through clenched teeth.“She’s being released,” the officer said calmly. “She didn’t do anything. We had to question her because she was involved in the incident, but she’s free to go.”“Then get her out here.”The officer gave him a long, unimpressed look and then turned, calling out toward the hallway behind him.Moments later, I was led

ELISHA’S POVIt started out as one of those evenings that felt too perfect to touch.Adam picked me up around six. He didn’t say much at first—just smiled in that slow, quiet way of his, handed me a drink tray with two iced coffees and a paper bag that smelled suspiciously like garlic fries, then nodded toward the car.“We’re going somewhere?” I asked, buckling in.“Hopefully,” he said. “Unless you make me turn around.”I didn’t.We ended up at a drive-in theater just outside the city—one of those old-school lots with a massive screen propped up in front of a tree-lined hill, car radios tuned to a fuzzy channel, and rows of vehicles filled with families, teenagers, and tired couples happy to sit in silence.Adam parked us in the back, slightly angled so we could stretch our legs across the dashboard. He folded down the backseat halfway, creating a strange but surprisingly comfortable cocoon, and tossed me a blanket from the trunk.“This is absurdly cozy,” I admitted.“I am absurdly th

NATALIE’S POVI couldn’t believe his audacity.Of course, I could. It was Anthony. But still—pulling out of the Preston deal? Taking his investment out of their media group? That wasn’t a business move. That was personal.I woke to hysterics echoing through the marble halls of my home. Screaming. Crying. Shoes thudding against tile. The kind of chaos that didn’t belong in a house this expensive.“HE PULLED OUT!” Yasmin shrieked, voice echoing even through the thick walls. “And do you know what happens when Anthony Möller pulls his money out?! Everyone follows!!”I rolled my eyes from the staircase, still clutching a mug of warm milk. I hadn’t even had my tea yet. Morning sickness had barely let me function for the past three days, and now this.Yasmin was pacing like a woman possessed, but still dressed primly in tailored black shorts, a $300 white tank top, and a gold belt. “Yasmin, you need to calm down,” I said flatly, walking past her toward the lounge. She ignored me and kept g

ELISHA’S POVI’d just finished checking up a quiet little girl named Asha, who had the biggest, most soulful eyes and a habit of whispering answers to every question.“You’re all set,” I said, handing her mom the dietary handout and smiling down at Asha. “No more marshmallows for breakfast, okay?”Asha gave me a shy nod and ducked behind her mother’s coat. Her mom mouthed a grateful “thank you” and led her out.As I turned to wipe down my desk, I noticed someone mopping the hallway floor just outside my room. She moved with this unbothered kind of rhythm—like she was in her own world, somewhere far away from the sterile buzz of the clinic. Her face was turned down, but something about her posture, her hair, tugged at me.I squinted. Then I blinked.“I know you,” I said, stepping out of the doorway. The woman looked up, startled at first. Then her brows lifted in recognition. “Oh. Yeah… the charity ball.”“The girl with Zane,” I said. She let out a small laugh. “Yeah… you tried to sav

ELISHA’S POV“What a small world,” Elijah laughed, rubbing the back of his neck. “Anyway, I’ve got a consult in like five minutes for Penny… with the nutritionist.”“Oh…” I blinked, still trying to wrap my head around the coincidence.“Yeah,” Ethan cut in, pointing a thumb toward me, “that’s her. She’s the new nutritionist at the clinic.”Elijah looked between us and grinned. “You’re kidding.”“I’m not.”“Crazy again,” he said, chuckling. “Well, lead the way, Doctor.”I led them down the hall to my office, still dazed. Penny skipped beside Elijah, her little hand swinging freely in his. When we entered the room, she made a beeline for the exam bed and climbed up like it was her throne.“Are you gonna poke me with anything?” she asked, eyes wide.I smiled. “Nope. Not today. I just want to talk about what you eat.”She looked relieved. “Okay, but I still don’t like broccoli.”“Duly noted.”Elijah sat across from me, arms crossed casually. “We got her allergy panel done last month, and t
