ELISHA’S POV

It started out as one of those evenings that felt too perfect to touch.

Adam picked me up around six. He didn’t say much at first—just smiled in that slow, quiet way of his, handed me a drink tray with two iced coffees and a paper bag that smelled suspiciously like garlic fries, then nodded toward the car.

“We’re going somewhere?” I asked, buckling in.

“Hopefully,” he said. “Unless you make me turn around.”

I didn’t.

We ended up at a drive-in theater just outside the city—one of those old-school lots with a massive screen propped up in front of a tree-lined hill, car radios tuned to a fuzzy channel, and rows of vehicles filled with families, teenagers, and tired couples happy to sit in silence.

Adam parked us in the back, slightly angled so we could stretch our legs across the dashboard. He folded down the backseat halfway, creating a strange but surprisingly comfortable cocoon, and tossed me a blanket from the trunk.

“This is absurdly cozy,” I admitted.

“I am absurdly th

ANTHONY’S POVBy noon, the boardroom was already humming with tension.Half the shareholders had flown in overnight, the rest were patched in through video call — faces glowing cold and pale on the screen, eyes sharp, waiting for answers I barely had. The air smelled faintly of coffee and nerves.“Alright,” I began, standing at the head of the table. “I know everyone’s heard some version of what’s happening at St. Xavier’s, but let me be clear — it’s contained. We’re managing it internally until we identify the source.”“Internally?” said Hargrove, one of the older members whose fortune was built on pharmaceuticals before Möller acquired his company. “Anthony, contamination is a criminal matter, not an internal one.”“It’s not contamination,” I said. “It’s deliberate tampering. There’s a difference.”Another voice chimed in from the far end of the table — Evans, sharp suit, sharper tongue. “You can’t know that for certain.”“I do,” I said evenly. “The products left the factories clean

ANTHONY’S POVThe next morning began with reports — thick, stapled stacks of them — spread across my desk like pieces of an unsolvable puzzle.“How do we even know the containers left Italy clean?” I asked, tapping the edge of one file as Mark stood across from me. “For all we know, it could’ve happened there.”Mark didn’t flinch. He’d clearly prepared his answer. “Our Augusta Port inspectors signed off on everything. We’ve trusted these guys for over a decade.” I leaned back in my chair, exhaling through my nose. “And you’re sure about them?”“They’ve never failed us,” he said. “Not once.”I looked down at one of the bottles sitting on my desk — Neurofenex, the same painkiller line that had now put my entire company under a shadow. The manufacturer’s seal was perfectly intact. Every serial code checked out. And yet, hidden behind that pharmaceutical polish, the tiny green baggie of powder sat like a parasite.“Damn near perfect,” I muttered. “You’d think they were packaged by the or

ANTHONY’S POVThe jet landed at dawn, and by the time the wheels hit the tarmac, my phone was already vibrating with messages from Mark.By the time I reached the car waiting outside, he was already there — coat rumpled, tie loosened, eyes bloodshot. That told me everything I needed to know.“Talk to me,” I said, sliding into the back seat beside him.He didn’t waste a second. “The crate sent to St. Xavier’s last week — the one that carried the new stock of Neurofenex painkillers — turned up with packets of green powder inside. Hidden in the bottle casings.”My head snapped toward him. “How the hell is that even possible?”“We contacted the manufacturer in India and they sent us some pretty solid evidence that it wasn’t them… security cameras, badge numbers, quality assurance reports, all of it. Which means…” “It was comprised after it left India.” “The ship stopped in Augusta to fuel up and pick up other stocks before heading to America. Our quality checks there were also pristine,

ANTHONY’S POVThe weeks passed faster than I could keep up.Möller was thriving — properly thriving for the first time in years. The numbers on the reports almost looked fake. Sixty-eight percent of the clinics and hospitals that had left us were back under contract, and not only that — they were paying double.Somewhere in the middle of those figures, I started laughing. Quietly at first, then loud enough that Mark had to look up from his laptop and ask what was so funny.“MedDirect,” I said, shaking my head. “They thought they’d destroy us.”He grinned. “And we’re doing better than ever. I know, it’s insane!” The irony wasn’t lost on me. Peter had tried to burn me out of my own industry, and instead, he’d handed me the leverage to reinvent it. I made a mental note to send him a thank-you card — or maybe a framed copy of our quarterly earnings report. For once, business wasn’t my entire world.Because in between calls and strategy meetings, I had Donna.Having her in the house chang

OSTARA’S POVThe week flew by faster than I expected.Donna had settled into the rhythm of Anthony’s new home like she’d been born there. She spent her mornings painting in the sunroom, afternoons chasing Mark’s dog through the garden, and evenings curled up beside Anthony, listening to stories she’d already heard a hundred times. It was beautiful to watch. It also made leaving harder.“I’ll miss you, mummy,” she said that morning, her voice small against my shoulder as she hugged me.I kissed her hair. “I’ll miss you too, baby. But I’ll be back soon, alright?”She looked up at me with those wide, honey-brown eyes. “Promise?”“I promise.”Anthony appeared by the doorway, sleeves rolled, still holding the mug of coffee he’d made for me. “Are you sure you can’t stay another week?”I turned to him. “I’ve been away from work long enough. The team needs me.”“Donna would be thrilled.”I smiled faintly. “That’s exactly why I’m leaving now, before she gets used to me being here every day.”H

OSTARA’S POVBy the second day at the hospital, the atmosphere felt different — lighter somehow. The children had warmed up to us, and Donna, to my quiet relief, had found her rhythm. She wasn’t as shy this time. She colored with a little girl named Mia, who was beaming, and helped Sabrina film the last bit of the campaign.Watching them hold up their chocolate bars and grin for the cameras nearly undid me. For all the corporate polish, this moment felt real — pure. Something good that had come out of everything. When the filming wrapped, the crew packed up, and the hospital staff thanked us, Donna tugged at my hand.“Are we going home now?” she asked.I knelt down beside her. “Not just yet, sweetheart. You’re going with Daddy to New York.”Her eyes went wide, all excitement. “Really? When?”“In a few hours.”She gasped. “What about all my clothes in London?”Anthony, standing nearby with that patient smile he always used with her, leaned down. “We’ll buy you anything you want in New
