CORRIE

I was going to die. And I was too calm about it. The water made it's way to my lungs and instead of fighting it, I just gave up. This was a befitting way to die as an orphan.

I was born with nothing and I was going to leave with nothing as well.

I would finally see Haven. After four years, we would be reunited and just the thought of that made me happy at least.

"What about Emmette?" I didn't know where the question came from but I ignored it. It must be the voices in my head or whatever. It didn't matter. Emmette was fine after his wife died, he'll be the same when I'm gone.

"What about Emery?" My chest ached a bit. She'll be fine without me too. It would be wrong to continue pretending to be her mother. Maybe this might open up a reason for Emmette to be honest.

"What about me?" The darkness that once enveloped me disappeared. Well not completely disappear. It was still start but light emitted from only one thing, one person. Me.

I saw myself right in front of me. I had a loo

DEVONbillionaire's wife, Corrie Nash. Everyone has the same question on their minds what is taking them so long? Is she really missing, or is this all part of a plot? A distraction, even, to flee with the late billionaire’s fortune—we have—"I switched off my phone and tossed it beside me, frustration boiling in my chest.I was parked outside my mother’s house. Not long ago, I had dropped Mimi off at her hotel, and without thinking, driven straight here. I needed air. Anything that could help me process what I had just agreed to.The deal I made with Mimi replayed over and over in my mind making Herod the heir. Now that I had a moment to truly think about it, I couldn’t help but slam my fist into the steering wheel. My breaths came short, my chest rising and falling as rage simmered beneath my skin. The whole arrangement felt like a trap. And worst of all—I had no idea who was helping her. Whoever it was, they were powerful enough to back her up and keep her protected. Because of the

MIMILa Cuillère Dorée.My head panned up at the big words written at the top of the restaurant. My hand held the door of my uber as I turned and slammed it shut. The driver scurried off having been paid as I looked back up at the dreaded sign. Those words held a lot of memories. Devon would merely utter them anytime he would asked to meet. This was where I had met Devon, this was where we met adjacent, to our numerous affairs. This was where Corrie gained knowledge of our affair, this was where Devon had proposed. All exciting memories. But this was also where Devon had chose to humiliate me, the time I brought the family together to celebrate getting a permit to emerald palace. Where he would bring a few random girls behind my back, even when we had double dates. It was the same share of humiliation. This was our special place, our haven in which he turned rotten. And now, I stand behind the building just because Devon had requested to see me. The thought of it left a bitter taste

HATTY I stepped out into the lobby of the pharmaceutical, and suddenly, I got a strange feeling."Officers," I muttered aloud, getting each and every one of their attention."What brings you to my pharmaceutical? Perhaps you need my assistance with an investigation," I added gleefully, knowing damn well they would've gone to a hospital if that were the case. One of them stepped forward. He was clearly in charge. He approached with his hands in his pockets, then pulled out his phone, fingers scraping across the screen. He finally paused and panned the screen toward me, an image of Salem blaring at my face."This man, do you know who he is?"My hands scratch my chin. "He seems familiar. You know," I slurred tilting my eyes back at the image and back at the officer. "A lot of people come to the pharmacy." I explained hopefully in a way that wasn't telling the truth and a lie."I see." The officer nodded retracting his phone. As he gives a nod to his fellow comrades."You're aware of wha

HATTYI was so tired, exhaustion was a fucking understatement. I’d been moving back and forth between the lab and Corrie, running test after test, each one eating away at what was left of my sanity. I was a goddamn zombie, barely functioning, sustained only by caffeine pumping furiously through my veins.I had no idea how long I’d been holed up in this laboratory. Time had blurred. Day and night meant nothing. And despite all the hours and effort, I still hadn’t gotten a single lead on the drug. Each day that passed, the same terrifying thought clawed its way back into my mind: Corrie might not even be alive. She could already be dead, and the equipment I’d hooked her up to was just keeping her body warm, nothing more. Her brain showed barely any activity, no signals, not even the faintest wave. I’d started to assume the drug had rendered her brain-dead. But what kind of drug was so powerful, so devastating… and yet so unknown?I stared down at my research. I was this close to sweepin

SALEM"You look familiar." The bartender behind the desk called my attention as she slids me a tray of Château Margaux 2009 across the counter.I didn't panic, There was no need but I was surprised that someone could finally see through my disguise. I literally looked like a different person and somehow, she could see through it. The receptionist held her phone in her grasp as she looked at the her phone and back at me.Once. Twice. A third time. My pulse stayed steady, but my hand inched subtly toward my apron. My fingers brushed against the cool metal of the gun tucked inside. Just in case."You look like that famous singer Austin katral." She muttered panning the uncanny resemblance of my disguise. I chuckled, retracting away my hand from the reach of my gun. I shut my eye, a wide smile spread across my lips."I get that all the time." I said, the lie smooth on my tongue. And I was definitely going to kill Abbel later—for choosing a disguise that made me look exactly like a famous

DEVONMy hands were tied behind my back. All I could do was struggle as detectives came in one by one, not a single one conducting an actual investigation. They all have went through a couple documents, filled my name and laughed about probably anything that wasn't in line with my case. Soon, they all left, my hands still handcuffed. The door open wide and I was ready to lash at the person coming right through it.My head tilt up and suddenly my chest seem to fall as my eyes widened. My mother walked in, her face etched in disgust. She trailed towards the chair opposite me as she dropped her hand bag on the table. I watched her sit down, her face cold and devoid of emotion. Her face was swollen, her eyes red as trace of tears formed dark circles round her eyes.Shame flushed my face crimson, I nestled my back to the hard feeling of the chair. My face fell, I couldn't just look at her. The pain and defeat, a tapestry blankly printed on her face.It didn't take a genius to tell me that
