EMMETTE

My eyes swept the room as my employees filed into the spacious living room one by one. They all lined up, murmuring under their breaths until Abel was the last to approach me, giving a slight nod to indicate that everyone was present.

I cleared my throat, my gaze moving across the entire room.

"Hello, everyone," I started. "I apologize for the intrusion. I'm sure all of you are doing your best, working hard for me, and I need to commend that." The room went so silent that even a pin drop could be heard.

"I gathered you all today to thank you," I said, my voice cracking slightly.

"You all showed me how loyal you were, given the terrible situation that happened. You stood by my side and didn’t call it quits when the world sullied my name. You boldly stayed and showed up, even though I wasn’t available at the moment. Thank you."

"Thank you for your esteemed loyalty. Thank you for giving me your trust, and thank you for putting up a united front, even when it looked pointless," I

MIMIAll I could do was clasps my hands over my nose and think of a way to beg for mercy."I'm sorry for talking bad about Corrie." I stuttered. "You have to understand." My body trembled. "You don't understand how hard it was to watch my husband pick her over me again and again with each bid." I chuckled."You don't expect me to like her all of a sudden do you? She's fucking lucky I didn't even shoot.""I never got to thank you for what you did in the ferry." Emmette muttered playing with his ciga.My body relaxed a bit, but I was still tense. He could use this as a front and just as well expect me to be relaxed. "You don't need to." I urged."You're right but unfortunately, you and I are what each other needs at the moment." He said as I turned to him confused."I don't understand," I scoffed confused. "What could we probably need from each other." The air was silent, he didn't give me a reply."You're going to the station right?" He muttered snapping his head to my direction. It

MIMIIt feels like eyes are watching my every move. Every time I turned back I'll meet the same doctor and nurse that would just simply stare at my paranoid self. I resumed walking down the hall and the moment I saw the exit I knew it was going to be hell. For once I was grateful for Emmette for hiring security because if he'd left it to the hospital, there would have probably been a big commotion by now.I opened the doors wide, looking by my sides to take a look at security. The wind blew across my hair and I already see the black jeep that the police sent for me, pull up right in front. I flicked my hair back taking down each slow careful strides and before I could even step on the last step. Papparazi's leered in one by one, shoving me their microphones."Mimi can you tell us what happened in the De Ronte Ferry.""Is it true you were held hostage along—""Mimi—Mimi, there's a rumour saying you were involved with Miss De Ronte, what do you say to that.""Now that Corrie Nash is bac

  • Dear Ex Husband, I'll Make You Wish You Were Dead   113: Nice meeting you, my ass

EMMETTE "Sister?" Corrie squints, trying to recall any small bit of memory."I don't have a brother," Corrie tells him, still in a state of confusion, before briefly looking at me and turning her attention back to him."Oh, there's an explanation for that. We share the same father but different mothers," Kennedy explains, but Corrie's hand reaches to the side of her head as she lets out a grumbling hiss."No." Corrie mutters. "Mom and dad only had me and Emerald." Corrie explains as I freeze up. She remembers Emerald, that's good at least. But the way she says it is like she grew up with them. Like they were still alive, and the relief that lingered morphed into an ache of worry."Well," Kennedy slurred briefly. "My mother was dad's mistress," Kennedy explains, and Corrie frowns; her shoulders shrivel and she squints her eyes even more."No." Corrie stutters, suddenly slipping into a gasping frenzy."D-dad will not do that to mom." She thinks for a moment, her eyes slowly opening, wi

HATTY"No, Charlton," I muttered into my phone, sneaking glances at Mr. Nash every chance I got."I’ll be back soon," I added, rolling my eyes."I’m not a child, Charlton. Stop worrying, for goodness’ sake," I hissed before hanging up, cutting him off before he could say anything else. The moment the call ended, my body tensed. A part of me expected Mr. Nash to question me about Charlton, but he didn’t.He just sat there, brooding, eyes fixed on the tablet resting on the seat beside him. The glasses perched on his face somehow made him look even more attractive than he already was. Screw the media, Mr. Nash was far more handsome in person, and it was impossible not to notice. What I couldn’t wrap my head around was how Corrie could be afraid of him. But then again, if I lost my memory and suddenly woke up to be told the man a stranger I don't even know was my husband, I’d probably be terrified too."You’re staring," Mr. Nash muttered, snapping me out of a trance I hadn’t even realized

  • Dear Ex Husband, I'll Make You Wish You Were Dead   111: The truth

EMMETTE"I’ve identified the body, sir," Abel muttered on the other end of the line. "It’s him."He confirmed Salem’s death, and for some reason, panic clawed at my chest, followed by a sting of guilt.I didn’t know what to say. I was loss for words, speechless even. We weren’t the best of friends. We were far from it, but still, I felt bad. I had promised to come back for him, and instead, I left him to die.Annoyance simmered alongside the guilt, tangled with a storm of emotions I couldn’t fully unravel. But above them all, anger stood tall. When I was supposedly died, he kidnapped Corrie and kept her hidden, safe. My men couldn’t even track her down. And now that she’s finally found—she doesn’t even remember me.Instead, she’s afraid of me.She calls that bastard her husband. Why? Why doesn’t Corrie recall a single thing about me? Why does she recoil at the sound of my voice? My grip on the phone tightened until pain shot up my hand."Leave the morgue for now," I ordered coldly, ju
