MAVERICK

Ryan was waiting for me when I arrived at The Haven. He sat in the booth in the farthest corner, swirling a glass of whiskey in his hand like he didn’t have a fucking care in the world.

I didn’t hesitate. I stormed toward him, gripping the edge of the table hard enough to crack the wood. “Where is she?”

Ryan didn't even blink. He tilted his head lazily, smirking as his eyes met mine. “You look like shit, Sinclair.”

I instantly reached for him, pulling him out of the booth by the collar of his shirt. I didn’t care about the attention I was getting from the bar goers.

My girl was fucking missing.

“You’d better start talking if you don’t want me to bash your face in,” I growled at him.

Ryan—the little fucking shit he was—smiled at me. He wasn’t scared. Wasn’t even fucking moved. I tightened my grip on his collar, resisting the urge to slam him against the wall.

My patience had run out.

“Tsk, tsk,” he tutted. “That’s no way to treat the only person in this room who knows where

IRIS I couldn’t think. Couldn’t even breathe. My mother. My fucking mother was here. I hadn’t seen her in years. Not since I ran away from home, leaving her and my stepfather. And now, she was here, standing in front of me. She looked like a ghost from one of my worst memories. Her hair was tangled and uncared for, her skin dry and worn. The dirty, tattered clothes hanging off her body told me everything I needed to know. She had hit rock bottom. But I didn’t feel pity for her. I could never feel pity for Rhoda Blake. I sucked in a shaky breath, trying to make sense of what was happening. “How…” My voice cracked. “How did you find her?” I asked Quentin, not taking my eyes away from my mother. She was a frail thing. Much smaller than I remembered. “I did a little digging on you, Iris.” I turned to look at him and he had a smirk on his face. “Found out that your own mother kidnapped you for some change.” He chuckled, shaking his head. “Imagine my surprise when I discovered yo

MAVERICK Iris’s face was pale, her hair a tangled mess, and she had dried tear streaks on her cheeks. And her eyes… they seemed to stare into space even though she was looking at me.“Maverick?” She said weakly.“I’m here, Angel.”Iris exhaled sharply. Her body trembled as she threw herself into my arms. I caught her, holding her close to me.“I’ve got you,” I murmured into her hair. “I’ve fucking got you.”She was shaking, but she wasn’t crying. Meanwhile, I was shaking with anger.I was going to kill Quentin. There was no sign of him when we arrived. No sign of Roman or the car. But after I got Iris home safely, I was going to find them.I pulled back, gripping her face gently as I searched her expression. “Where’s Quentin?”I noticed the way she stiffened at my question. Iris looked away from me, opening her mouth with hesitation. She shook her head. “Quentin?” she whispered. “He didn't do this.”My jaw clenched as I registered her answer. Iris wasn’t that good of a liar. I lifte

IRIS ‘You didn't think I’d stay alone forever, did you?’‘I had another fucking kid, Iris, and she’s dying.’My mother’s words continued to echo in my mind even as Maverick drove us home. The fact that my mother had given birth to another child, and she loved that child this much…It broke me.It destroyed my inner child into pieces. The love that I had begged for, yearned for… I never got it. I was treated like an abomination. All because she wanted some money. And here she was, doing it again.Doing it to save her other daughter.I clutched Maverick’s jacket tighter around me as an uneasy chill ran down my spine.I could feel him glance at me every now and then, checking to see if I was okay, although he hadn’t said anything to me since we got in the car.I’d lied. I had lied to him, telling him that it wasn’t his father who kidnapped me. Though I doubted that he even believed me.But I didn’t do it because I wanted to protect or cover Quentin’s ass, I did it to cover mine.Quentin

MAVERICKIris’s mouth was like a drug. Kissing her was fucking addictive. Even just touching her…Asking me to help her forget only reminded me of the first night we met. The night it all began. The night that Iris slowly crept into my head and refused to leave. The night she started to be a recurring apparition in my dreams. And just like before, she wanted to use me to escape her mind. That was something I would gladly let her do—letting her use me.Because I wanted to be used by her.I kissed her deeply, passionately, enjoying the way she moaned into my mouth as our tongues danced together. She trailed her hands down my chest, not taking her mouth off mine as she fondled with the buttons on my shirt.Tightening my grip on her waist, I pressed her against my car, moving my lips to her neck, sucking and nipping on her skin.Iris moaned loudly, tilting her head to give me more access. “Mmmm. So fucking good.”I smiled against her skin. I loved that Iris never held back her pleasure. S

IRIS Maverick stared at me, amusement dancing in his stormy eyes. “We’re already getting married.”I shook my head once, feeling heat creep up my neck. “I mean we should get married sooner. Tomorrow.”The wedding was supposed to be in a month’s time, but with everything going on, with Quentin trying to sabotage our plan and possibly kill me while at it, the best “fuck off” I could give to him was marrying his son, not caring about what he thought. But Maverick wouldn’t understand. Or maybe he would. I didn’t tell him that it was his father who kidnapped me, and I wasn’t going to tell him. But at some point, he was going to figure it out.He already doubted me.“Why so soon? Don’t tell me you’ve fallen in love with me already,” Maverick said smugly.I looked away, feeling my cheeks burn even hotter.“Don’t flatter yourself, Maverick.” I willed my voice to remain steady. The last thing I wanted to do was make Maverick think that I had feelings for him. Because I didn't.He just had a f

  • Dear Ex-Husband, Revenge is Mine!   CHAPTER SIXTY-FOUR: HELP ME FIND MY SISTER

MAVERICK The first thing I saw the moment I opened my eyes was Iris. She was splayed out on my chest, her warm, naked body pressed against mine, her thigh just barely brushing against my semi-hard cock. After I’d fucked her in the garage, we had both come up to my room to continue where we stopped. I’d thought kissing Iris was addictive, but fucking her?It was something else entirely.I hadn’t been able to get enough of her—her sounds, her body, the way she responded to me. I couldn’t stop myself from wanting more of her.Even now, as she slept, I could still feel the heat that lingered between us, the way her body molded so perfectly against mine.My hand moved, tracing slow, lazy circles over the curve of her back. Iris let out a sleepy sigh, nuzzling even closer, her warm breath fanning my chest. She was completely unaware of the effect she had on me.How could someone as pure and beautiful as this go through something so cruel? My mind flashed back to only hours ago, when her mo

IRIS Although I hadn’t admitted to Maverick that it was Quentin who had kidnapped me, Maverick was a hundred percent sure that it was him, and there was nothing I could do to convince him otherwise. But knowing Maverick, he wouldn’t just go on a full-on rage or attack Quentin without a plan. He was going to restrategize. I saw it in his eyes, in the way he’d looked at me this morning. His mind had been set, and he wasn’t going back. That’s why when he told me I had to stay away from the office until after our wedding, I didn't even bother arguing.I heaved a sigh, clicking on the video that Megan had just sent me of Amethyst. In the video, Amy was sitting on the floor, playing with one of her large stuffed animals. At first, she hugged it, but then she started blabbing in a serious tone while Megan stifled a laugh behind the camera. My heart melted when Amy leaned in, giving the teddy bear a kiss on the nose before clapping her tiny hands in excitement.“You giving kisses now, baby g

IRIS “Why don’t you ever drink?”Maverick and I had been dining for the past thirty minutes. I was on my second glass of wine, but he’d just ordered some sparkling water. This wasn’t the first time I was noticing the fact that he never drank, I just didn’t know how to bring it up until right now.Maverick raised his eyes to glance at me as he cut into his steak. “How long have you been wanting to ask me that?”I shrugged. “A while.”He leaned back in his seat, his gaze turning slightly hard. I warily kept my eyes trained on him, wondering whether he was going to answer truthfully or not.And truthfully, there was only one reason I could think of. “I just don’t drink,” he finally replied.I nodded slowly, tilting my head slightly. “So, that’s why you just order a glass of whiskey at gatherings and just… hold onto it? Because you don’t drink?”One side of Maverick’s mouth pulled up in a smirk. “Are you questioning me, Angel?”I opened my mouth to reply, but before I could, a shadow fe

IRISI pulled the front door open even before Megan started to knock.“Hey…” I trailed off when I noticed the look on her face.“I’m losing my fucking mind, I tell you,” she hissed as she stomped into the house.“Easy with the cussing,” I said. “Kids live here now.”Megan made a show of looking around, spreading her arms wide at her sides. “Kids where? I don’t see any.”I rolled my eyes, heading over to the kitchen to grab the bottle of wine I’d kept in preparation of this moment. It was about time we had some time to ourselves while Chelsea and Amethyst were asleep. Maverick had dropped me off after the cake tasting because he had some ‘emergency’, and I hadn’t seen him since then. And neither had Megan seen Dwayne. I grabbed two glasses, heading to the living room where Meg had completely relaxed on the couch.I dropped them onto the coffee table and I popped the wine bottle open. “Wait. You can have this, right?”“Yes,” Megan rolled her eyes. “Of course, I can. I’m not on pain med

We had a lot of shit to clear up, but right now, it seemed there was a bigger problem than that.Dwayne didn’t answer, but Ryan did.“Turns out Dwayne here, was wrong about the assumptions he made about Steven Walsh.”Steven Walsh was Megan’s ex-boyfriend who’d just gotten out of prison after being locked up for over three years for assaulting her.On the night of the fight, the last thing Dwayne had said before he left was that he was going to find out the truth. In other words, he was going to find Steven Walsh because he was convinced that he was the one who cut Megan’s brakes.“What do you mean?”Dwayne ran a hand through his hair, his jaw clenched hard. He shrugged exasperatedly. “Turns out Steve Walsh isn’t even in the country anymore.

MAVERICK I was hard as a rock.I couldn’t think. Couldn’t focus because my mind was on Iris. I craved her wet heat and I needed to be inside her.Right now.I adjusted my cock in my pants. The baker, whose name I’d never really learned, came out to meet me, a nervous smile on her face as her eyes darted around as if she was looking for Iris.“She had to leave…” I said, rising to my feet. “Emergency.”“Of course,” she let out an airy laugh even as she tried so hard to look at anything but my face. I wasn’t sure at what point she had noticed that something was going on between me and Iris, but she had. And I could tell how anxious and uncomfortable she felt being in my presence.I concealed my smile. “I also have to leave, so you’re going to have to discuss the details with the wedding planner. I’ll have her contact you.”She let out a sigh laced with relief. “Of course. It’s been a pleasure having you, Mr. Sinclair.”“I’m truly sorry you had to witness that,” I muttered before I coul

IRIS I froze in my seat.Stay? What the hell did he mean by “Stay?”The baker smiled politely. “Oh, of course, I can stay,” she said. She was completely unaware that Maverick had just issued a threat disguised as a request.“Oh, you don’t have to—” I started to say, but she cut me off.“Please. I’m usually nervous about watching my clients taste my cake, but I don’t mind being here as long as it’s what you want.”My eyes were wide as I stared at Maverick, and he had a smirk on his face. His stormy eyes twinkled with mischief. And the remote was completely out of sight.“It is,” he said curtly, his gaze pinned on me sharply, daring me to disagree. That wasn’t going to happen.“Okay, sure,” she replied, tucking her hair behind her ears nervously. “I’ll just… stand back and talk you through the flavors while you try them.”Maverick’s expression was unreadable as he reached for a mini red velvet cake from the platter. He stabbed it with his fork, holding it out to me.“Open,” he murmured

IRIS It wasn’t long before I was ready. I had on a lilac-colored sundress—yes, I picked it on purpose—and tied my hair up in a messy bun, letting a few stray curls dangling near my face.Maverick was already in the car when I slid into the passenger seat.He turned to look at me, his look appraising as he regarded my form.“You’re playing a dangerous game, Angel,” he said huskily, his gaze trained on my cleavage.I couldn’t help it—I stuck my chest out a little more, and Maverick’s jaw twitched.“When am I not?” I replied sassily, biting on my bottom lip.He looked away from me, tapped his fingers on the steering wheel once. Twice. Thrice. And when he looked back at me, there was anger swirling in his eyes. Anger and something else.Desire.“Let me make something clear to you, Iris,” he said in a deadly tone. I let out a soft gasp.He continued. “This doesn’t mean I’ve forgiven you for what you did. I haven’t.”Maverick shook his head slowly even as my heart sank. “I don’t know if I’

IRIS The first thing I perceived the moment I opened my door was the smell of pancakes. It wafted up the stairs and filled the entire corridor.I was a little shocked, because yesterday, Tania had said she wouldn't be coming in early, so all I knew was that I was going to be the one to make breakfast this morning. But the moment I went down the stairs, I got my answers.Maverick was in the kitchen, his back turned, muscles flexing as he worked on the stove.First of all, he was supposed to be at work. Second of all…Wow.But I wasn't the only one staring at him in admiration. Chelsea sat at the counter, engaging him in a conversation while looking at him like he created the damn world. And Amethyst…She sat in her high chair, smiling up at Maverick whenever he turned to look at her.Something lodged itself deep in my throat, and my vision turned cloudy. I wasn’t prepared to see Maverick being a dad.But here he was. And his daughter adored him.I wasn’t sure how long I stood there,

MAVERICK Iris was going to kill me.She was going to murder me without hesitation and bury me six feet under. “Fucking hell, Iris,” I gritted out, my eyes focusing on her wet pussy that was spread in front of me.“You’re so fucking needy. You’re a needy little slut, aren’t you?”My insults never got to her. Iris would never admit it, but she had a degradation kink. She was a proud, feisty woman, but when she wanted me, she was willing to push all that aside and submit to me in whatever way.And I fucking loved that about her.But right now, she was testing my limits, dangling bait in front of me.And I was a fish willing to catch that bait.Iris stuck her tongue out to lick her lips, nodding desperately. “I need you, Maverick. Whatever you want to do, just… give me something. Anything.”I stood quietly for a full minute, just watching Iris’s legs open and close. She was restless, aroused. I knew that if I touched her pink pussy, I would find it soaking wet.But I wasn’t going to tou

It was left for him to say yes or no.But as I stepped into the rainfall shower enclosure, I couldn’t help but wonder whether he would actually take the bait.I turned on the shower, sighing when the warm water sprayed down on my body.I released my hair from its bun, letting it fall over my shoulder and tossing the hair tie aside. And then I let the water do its work.I was anxious. It had been a little over five minutes and Maverick still hadn’t come in.Disappointment wrapped itself around me like a cold blanket.I guess… he didn’t want me.But what was that look I’d seen in his eyes then if it wasn’t desire? MAVERICKI could’ve pushed her away from me. But I didn’t.I let Layla wrap her hands around my neck. Let her scent cloud my senses. She always used to smell like jasmine, and now? Now, it was no different.Layla was seated on my lap, a small smirk on her face as one hand left the back of my neck to trail down my chest.“Get off me,” I muttered. She didn't. Not that I was even expecting her to.“Why?” she whispered, leaning in close. “You didn’t used to mind. “You used to beg for it. For me to sit on your lap…” Layla ground her hips against my lap. “For me to ride you.”Her lips grazed my ear as she leaned in even closer. “Does Iris ride you the way I used to?”My nostrils flared. “Don’t say her name.”“With pleasure, baby. I don’t even like her. I just want you.”I placed my hand on her hips, starting to push her away, but I paused when her teeth grazed my earlobe. Not because I was aroused, but because a thought struck me.
