Lillian’s POV.

“Let me go!”

I tried wiggling my way out of Aaron’s firm grip but I couldn’t, as he was too strong for me. My hand began to hurt but he wouldn’t let go.

“Why the fuck are you here, Lillian?!” Aaron fired, loosening his grip up on me.

I fired back with anger. “Accompanying my mate to receive his award, Aaron Moonstone. Why the fuck are you here? You didn’t even get an award!”

Aaron’s face fell briefly, before twisting into something like mockery as he sized me up.

Dorian’s POVI held the small, rough piece of blue glass tightly in my hand. The tiny fragment of the Viremoor gemstone was glowing very bright in the dark. It pulsed with a strong, deep blue light that got brighter and brighter every time I took a step forward. My heart was beating very fast in my chest, but my mind was completely focused. The magical gem was telling me that my wife was very close. My hopes were going up with every second that passed.I had made a big choice to come to this scary place all by myself. I did not bring Aiden, and I did not bring any of my pack warriors. I knew that if the bad men saw a group of guards, they would hurt my sweet little girl right away. I had to be like a ghost in the dark night. I had to rescue Lillian and Celeste alone.I walked quietly through the tall, dead grass near the edge of the old building. But just as I reached the back wall of the dark warehouse, my wolf instincts told me to stop. I quickly pulled my body back into the deep sh

Aaron’s POVLillian stared at me from her spot on the cold stone floor, her eyes wide with deep disgust and disbelief. She wiped a line of blood from her bottom lip with the back of her trembling hand, shaking her head slowly as if she could not believe what she was hearing."You are a sick man, Aaron," Lillian spat at me, her raspy voice filled with absolute disdain. "You are completely insane. You killed an innocent woman, you locked up your own wife in a dirty cage, and you are trying to hurt a little child. You are a sick, broken monster."I turned my body around away from Shantel's iron cell and looked down at Lillian. A loud, booming laugh burst out of my chest, echoing off the stone walls of the dark dungeon"Call me whatever name you want, Lillian," I sneered, taking two steps toward her and folding my arms across my chest. "Say whatever makes you feel brave right now. But let us see how confident and loud you are when my sponsor walk through that door to pick you up. You thin

Aaron’s POVI squeezed her throat as hard as I could. I felt the warm skin of her neck beneath my fingers, vibrating as she tried to pull air into her lungs. Watching her choke brought a deep, dark feeling of pleasure right into my chest. Her face was turning a bright shade of red, her dark eyes wide with pure terror as she scratched feebly at my hands. For a few seconds, I wanted to end it all right here. I wanted to press my thumb into her windpipe until her head fell back and the life left her eyes forever. It would be so easy. It would take away all the pain, all the shame, and all the loss I had suffered because of her and Dorian. But I could not do it. I had strict orders.I hated those orders with every bone in my body. I hated being told what to do by a voice on a phone, but my mysterious sponsor held all the power right now. Their words echoed clearly in my head from our last phone call: “Bring Lillian to me alive. She is the real prize.”That had been the sponsor's secret pl

Lillian’s POVI looked down at my wrists and ankles in the dim light. I had made a mistake when I first opened my eyes. The heavy clinking sound I heard was not from me. I was not tied up in metal chains at all. I was lying on the cold stone floor, completely free to move.I looked up at Aaron. He was standing very close to me, acting very calm and open. He did not have any bodyguards next to him. He did not even have a gun in his hands. He was just standing there with a dark, terrible smile on his face, looking down at me like I was a small insect.A wave of wild, unstoppable anger rushed through my whole body. I forgot about my throbbing headache. I forgot about the sharp pain in my bad ankle. My mind only cared about one thing: my little girl.I jumped up off the cold floor with all my speed and charged straight at him. I raised my hands and grabbed the front of his expensive suit jacket, pushing him back with all my strength."Where is my baby?!" I screamed right into his face. My

Lillian’s POVI sat behind the steering wheel, my hands gripping the leather tightly. My heart was beating like a fast drum in my chest. The directions on my phone screen were very hard to read and very confusing. The road was dark, and there were no streetlights to guide my way. I turned down small, dirt roads that looked like nobody had driven on them for many years. After driving for a long time, the red pin on my screen finally stopped moving. My car rolled to a slow stop right in front of a giant, rusting warehouse. The building looked very old, dark, and scary. It sat all by itself on the far edge of the city, surrounded by dead trees and dry dirt.A wave of pure fear gripped my whole body. I could feel my hands trembling against the wheel. My breath came fast and weak. I was so scared that I could barely move my legs. But then, I thought about my sweet little girl. I thought about Celeste crying in the dark, calling out for her mommy. My daughter needed me right now. She had no

Dorian’s POVShe was entirely right, and I hated every single second of it.I stood there, frozen in my own bedroom, literally watching the love of my life prepare to walk straight into an unknown dungeon with absolutely no backup. My chest burned with a volatile mix of fury, desperation, and a sickening feeling of helplessness. My whole body was shaking with anger, but I could not do anything to stop her.As I looked at the fierce, maternal resolve in Lillian's tear-stained eyes, I knew I had to bend. I could not risk our daughter’s life on a dangerous gamble. If I followed her and the kidnappers saw me, they would hurt Celeste without a second thought."Okay," I choked out, the word tasting like ash in my mouth. "Go. But you promise me…you promise me you will be careful, Lillian.""I promise," she whispered, her voice soft and full of tears. She quickly dressed in dark, practical clothes so she could move easily. She pulled a dark jacket over her arms and tied her shoes tightly. Rig

Lillian’s POVThat night, after I’d tucked Celeste into bed with vague reassurances about her other grandparents, I lay awake staring at the ceiling. Her question hadn’t been random, I realized. It couldn’t have been just coincidence that she’d brought up grandparents now, of all times.I pulled ou

Lillian’s POVThe meeting wrapped up with handshakes and signatures on documents that would secure Fangshade Pack’s future for years to come. I watched the investors file out one by one, each of them looking satisfied with the terms we’d negotiated, and I should have felt nothing but triumph.Inste

Aaron’s POVShantel finally pulled away from me, her breathing still uneven as she straightened her clothes and fixed her disheveled hair in the reflection of my office window. I tucked my shirt back in and fastened my belt, watching her with growing confusion about what the hell had just happened.

Aaron’s POVI switched from channel to channel, but it was useless. Lillian’s face was everywhere every news station, every entertainment show, all of them talking about her appearance at Cowell’s fundraiser, her partnership with Dorian, how successful Fangshade Pack had become. It was like the ent
