I looked around the campus, it was neat and extremely tidy.

“Sorry, I'm looking for the Chancellor's office.” I said to someone who I assumed was a student.

“If you follow the line of the library, then go past the orientation hall, you'll get to the administrators office.”

“If you can point me to the direction of the library, I'll be so grateful.”

There was a golden plate on the door that said “Vice Chancellor” I went to the next door and it had the Chancellor's name on it.

I knocked and was asked to come in.

The man was middle aged and with a shaved head. He beckoned me inside and moved his laptop aside.

“Hi, how may I help you today?”

“I'm Diana,” I stuttered over my words because I had said Nathan's last name. We weren't married any longer so I decided to use my father's name instead. “ I'm Diana Adler, I have an appointment with you.”

“Let me check my record… oh, I see, there must have been a mistake in the records because it says here that your name is Diana Ford.”

  • Dear Ex-husband, I Don't Love You Anymore    FORTY TWO

CAMILLE Camille had been sitting in her car for hours. She looked outside the window and yet there were no signs of either Jaylen or Diana. The house just sat there, like a majestic queen, with multiple secrets and no solutions. Camille was time conscious and yet she could do nothing but wait. She had never experienced such helplessness in her life. The sky was already turning orange and she knew that sunset was close by. She looked down at her phone and went through the Contact, she tried to call Nathan again but there was no response. She called his office phone and waited. No response. Fear had been seeping into her bones like liquid poison and now she was shaking like strands of noodles. There was no way out of this and yet she could only wait and hope. She did not want anything bad to happen to her daughter. Nothing would happen to Ashley! She got out of the car and headed to the house again, she tried the door knob but noticed very quickly that the door was bullet proof

Jaylen walked to the door of the bathroom where I could see him but his face was an unreadable mask. “I'm a surgeon.” he said“I know that. You've told me that, but surgeons aren't rich like this in such a short amount of time.”“I have other jobs.” he said with a shrug. “Okay…” I waited for him to explain but he didn't. He leaned on the doorframe, his arms in his pocket. “I'm just worried, Jaylen.” “Well, I'm a good investor and business man. I know how to make money, I've always known.” Yeah, he has. Ever since we were little, Jaylen had always been the one to flip whatever allowance we had and double it. He could make deals that were enticing, he could make you want any product, hell, he could sell you a stick from the ground and make it seem like an ancient artifact. I used to be so impressed.“It's good to see that you finally put that brain of yours to work.” I joked and he smiled, the light finally returned to his eyes. “I can't wait for you to finish your studies so t

ARKArk stood in the bedroom opposite the house that Jaylen had bought for Diana. From his research, the house belonged to Diana's grandfather and had been passed down to her mother but due to her health complications, she had to sell the house for money. Jaylen had paid a lot of money to get the house back because the new owners weren't willing to sell initially. Their reason was because they had already settled in as a family. But of course they agreed once Jaylen flashed wads of cash in their faces. They had taken the money and started a new life someplace far away from here. And then Jaylen had gone further to remove every trace of the old family and transformed the house back to how it was before Diana's mother sold it. It wouldn't surprise Ark if he found out that Jaylen put to memory every squeaky floorboard and crack the house had decades ago and then recreated it. Jaylen was utterly and completely obsessed with Diana, to the point that it was dangerous.Jaylen, the most da

CAMILLE It had taken me about thirty minutes to drive over to the location but it had taken me longer to muster the courage to walk up to Diana's house. The last time she saw me, I was crying that she had hit my belly and I was losing my baby. There was no how to explain myself to her.I had just one instruction and it was simple. Lure Diana to a warehouse located outside the city. It was not easy but it was not impossible either. If I had gotten her to come to Yara last night, then I could get her to come with me. I just had to lie and say the right words. I kept thinking of Ashley, I couldn't stop thinking of my baby. I wanted her to be safe. If I had known, I would have packed our bags and taken her away from here this morning. Only if I had the money to start afresh. Tears streamed down my face, blocking my view of the house. The house itself was beautiful. The kind that people dreamed of living with their family. The neighbourhood was quiet, you could leave your child to play

CAMILLE “Or did you think I won't be watching you?” Ark asked in that deathly voice of his and Camille felt her spine straighten. Her grip tightened on the phone and she turned around but she could not see anyone, even when she could feel eyes crawling over her. There was no one in the dressing room with her, she was certain of that. And yet she could not be so sure. Her heart was hammering and slapping against her ribs and she fought to keep her legs from buckling and sending her to the ground. She was about to speak when the line went dead. There was a knock on the door but she could not speak up and ask the person not to come in. “Hey, are you alright?” Her manager asked as she walked in. Camille looked up at the woman's face but she could not see her. No, all she could see was the face of the man that had visited her last night. She did not think this through and there was no way that she could go back to the police station. She had underestimated him and that would be he

Light filtered into the bedroom and Camille lifted her head from her daughter's bed. She had not been able to leave her side for the fear that something terrible would happen. She did not want to lean on the thought, she remembered her father vaguely and there was something he told her that actually stuck. He said that people who thought of monsters were people that attracted them. And she knew deep down that thinking of Ark was a curse. She looked around the room and felt a little bit of relief. She'd never been this happy to see morning come and there was a new energy that came with the morning. Brushing her daughter's soft cheek she stood up and headed to the kitchen. She had locked all the doors and windows in the house. In her mind the killer could climb in anytime and put a bullet in her head. So she was taking preventive measures. Through out the night she thought of packing her bags and running away with Ashley, somewhere quiet and safe. But she knew that they would not sur
