~Aria’s POV~
I watched as Kaius's back faded into the hallway, chains of thoughts running through my mind. “Are you done?” A voice pierced through my ears, cutting off my reverie, and I turned to see Damien waiting for me. I sighed deeply before walking over to him. All I wanted was to get out of this place. All I wanted was to never set eyes on that man again, but how could I tell Damien about it? I would be risking his safety as well. Especially now that Kaius had him in mind. Up until this day, I had never spoken about my past with Damien. I knew he wanted to ask sometimes, but refrained. I was not ready to tell him about it just yet–or maybe I was never going to tell him how I was warming some other man's bed against my own will two years ago. How would he look at me? By now my tipsiness had worn out. I gasped when Damien picked me up, heading outside. “Drive.” He said to the chauffeur, and by now my consciousness had begun to fade. I was exhausted. “You'll be fine.” I could hear pieces of Damien's voice, making a sense of warmth wash over me as I closed my eyes. By the time I woke up, it was already morning. My eyes fluttered open, taking in the faint morning light that filtered through the curtains. When my eyes scanned around, I was confused –this was a different room. Much different from the hotel room I and Damien had been staying at yesterday. This looked much more comfortable, much more luxurious. “Eat some hangover soup.” Damien's voice came as he walked into the room, holding a bowl. His hair was tousled, and his sleepy eyes moved to rest on me as I tried to get out of bed. My head hurt so much, probably because of the alcohol from last night. “Thank you.” I said as I took the soup from him, begining to eat. “Did you change hotels?” I asked, and Damien's eyes moved to stare at me before humming… “Mhmm.” “This looks nice.” I commented, scanning around as I drank my soup. I wanted to ask how he had gotten money to rent such a luxurious hotel, but refrained. I could only keep shut and let him tell me by himself. Just then, there was a knock on the door, and Damien rose from the bed to open it. A stranger walked in, dressed in a black suit. His hair had been styled to perfection, and there was no trace of expression on his face. He seemed like some security. Perhaps the security in charge of the hotel? But what might a security guard want to say this early in the morning? “Young master,” The man called out, and I felt as though my brain was electrocuted. Young master? Why would such a person refer to Damien as “young master? My eyes moved to stare at Damien, stunned to see the cold look that married his face. This look, I had never seen before. It looked deadly, it looked emotionless. His obsidian eyes looked even darker than normal, and there were no traces of the playful smirk he usually gave me. Was this the same Damien I had been married to for two years? “Speak.” He commanded, walking over to me as he took the soup from me, beginning to feed me. Sure, Damien usually fed me sometimes, but I had never seen his aura change so much–it was dark, making me shiver involuntarily. “The Old man asks that you return home for dinner tonight.” The man said, and the more he spoke, the more confused I got. My gaze shifted between Damien and this stranger, confused about what they were talking about. “Hopefully he realizes that I am married and can bring my wife along. Am I right, Kai?” Damien asked, blowing on my soup before feeding me, his face devoid of any emotions –it was scary. It was as though the two men were fighting an invisible war that I could not see. The man called Kai took one look at me before averting his gaze and bowing his head. “Yes, the young master and mistress are invited for dinner.” He said, and my heart stopped. Young master and mistress? I turned to see Damien's side profile as he stared at Kai. Who exactly was my husband? Who exactly was Damien? Was he the same person I knew? My head was spinning rapidly. “We will be there for dinner. Perhaps there is a lot to be talked about with the old man.” Damien said, and Kai nodded before bowing and walking out. There was silence as soon as the door closed–a deafening silence as Damien spoon fed me. I had a lot of questions to ask. “We'll be going back to my family house for dinner tonight.” Damien stated, his aura getting lighter. He dropped the empty bowl onto the bedside table, pulling me into his arms as he tried to kissed me. My eyes widened. “Ah! You can't kiss me!” I almost yelled, not knowing whether to laugh or cry. “Why not, wife?” Damien asked, his eyes bearing into mine as he pulled away, and his lips slowly curled up. I bet he could see the shade of red that had inched it's way up my cheeks. “I haven't brushed my teeth yet.” I said, my face flushing with embarrassment. I heard Damien's raspy chuckle, making my breath hitch. “Wife will be kissed whether or not she has brushed her teeth.” Damien calmly stated, still maintaining the smirk on his lips. “I'll freshen up.” I said as I hurriedly rushed towards the bathroom. My reddened face had given out my embarrassment. “I'll answer all your questions after dinner tonight.” He said, and I paused and turned. Seeing his serious expression, I nodded. I would be ready to hear all the explanations. As I stared at myself in the mirror of the bathroom, my thoughts slowly drifted away, and realized Damien might not be the man I had known him to be. “Young master.” I muttered under my breath, repeating Kai’s words. Damien was not the average man I had been thinking he was for two years. He was more.~Aria's POV~ The sound of running water pierced through my ears, reminding me what had just transpired in this room. The air of ambiguity still lingered in the air, but more than regret, I felt guilty. Maybe because I shouldn't be here and I shouldn't be doing this? I felt disgusted with myself, yet I smiled a bitterly, pushing away every sense of disgust. I wasn't just doing this for myself, I thought. It was probably to convince myself. Perhaps I had a choice, and perhaps I did not- it was the latter. The sound from the bathroom quickly muffled in my ear as the huge screen in front of me flashed with pictures. I was stunned, staring at the two people in front of the screen. Kaius, and a woman - Sofia, the queen of the entertainment industry! I quickly increased the volume to listen to what was being said, and the more I listened, the more I felt my small heart shatter. “Sensation, Kaius Blackwood announces engagement to actress Sofia Reyes.” What was this feeling?
~Aria's POV~The door burst open and I could see the angered face of Kaius as he walk in. Every step he took felt like a ticking time bomb, ready to explode and I could feel my heart pulsate. Perhaps it was in guilty, or in fear for what he was going to do to me. Just this morning I repeated the oat to him. “Don't ask for love and don't get pregnant” but here I way lying in the hospital bed with a fetus growing inside me. I felt ashamed, but still, a sense of joy washed over me after learning about it from the doctor. I was finally going to have a family of my own, my little bundle of joy. But once again, fate was bound to take it away. “Get rid of it,” Kaius's voice came in the next second, making my eyes widen in shock. Abort it? It felt as though lightning had struck me, electrocuting me entirely. How could he ask me to abort it? How…how could he.My heart clenched beneath my chest and I let out a painful chuckle.“Are you so heartless that you want to kill your own blood?
~Damien's POV~I pressed on the accelerator, feeling my anger bulb. I wasn't ready to return to Seattle, yet I did. I had to, all thanks to my foolish brother. I felt as though to suffocate. The air in the car was thick. My phone suddenly rang. I heard it yet I ignored it like a plague. I knew exactly who it was- my father. But how could I pick it up when I knew exactly what he wanted to say?Thunder clapped loudly in the sky, and it soon started to pour heavily. The phone rang repeatedly, as though intending to make me lose my sanity.I slowed down a little, my eyes moving to stare at the phone screen inches away from me. But when I looked up again? “Shit!” I cursed, frantically honking before slamming hard on the breaks.Bang! I still hit the person. Hopefully he or she isn't dead yet, I thought as I sucked in a breath. I slowly pushed the door open, my heart caught up in my throat as I slowly approached the person lying on the tarred road in the rain…it was a woman. Her
~Aria's POV~ “what did you say?” I asked, unable to believe my ears. My voice trembled, and I knew my eyes gave away my surprise. “Marry me,” He repeated, and this time, I knew my ears were not playing tricks on me. “But…” I started, but was cut off by him. “Will you?” He asked, and I stared at him intently, wanting to know if he was serious. His piercing obsidian eyes stared at me with so much intensity that I could not look away. “It will be a contract valid for three years. You will be rid of your past, and I will no longer have to marry who my father wants or attend blind dates. You can choose to walk away after three years.” I thought about it. Perhaps this was the only way I could escape my past. Perhaps this was the only way I could escape Kaius's grasp. My head was spinning rapidly, but I still answered. “I agree.” I muttered, my voice slowly dimming. From the corner of my eyes, I could see the man's lips curl up. Before I knew it, I was already signing the contract
~Aria's POV~I sat in the car, my heart much more firm than before. I stared out the window, seeing the familiar view of Downtown Seattle. It felt like yesterday that I was in this city, striving to survive, yet I was back. Just then, the sound of my phone pierced through my ears and I picked it up, taking it to my ear. “Miss Aria is back in the country, can she come over to start designing the dress?” The familiar voice of Mrs Pierre pierced through my ears. I had met the woman back at France two years ago and we immediately hitted off. The woman returned to Seattle to be with her daughter and wanted my to design a dress for her daughter's birthday.I had almost forgotten that I had become quite a successful designer over the two years that I had left Seattle. “Yes, I will come to take Miss Avery's measurements later today. Since the birthday is in a week, I will have time to make the dress to her taste.” “Work?” Damien asked beside me and I hummed, my eyes shining.“Don't st
~Aria’s POV~ “Long time no see, Miss Aria.” Kaius said, a smile marrying his face. My gaze hardened as I stared at him. Why did he look at me as though nothing had happened between us? I had the urge to laugh–of course, why would he act like something happened? I was the only one who knew what had transpired between us years ago. I was the only one who knew about the fetus he murdered mercilessly. And now he looked at me with clear eyes, as though he had done nothing...as though he was a saint. My previous uncertainty turned into rage–immense rage. “Long time no see.” I replied, smiling beautifully, and I caught sight of Sofia’s arms that intertwined with his. Perhaps this was to make me jealous? I had the urge to laugh at her childishness. “Find me when you're ready to customize the dress.” I said to Sofia, my eyes neutral, and she smiled a fake smile before standing on her tippy toes to whisper something into Kaius's ear. If it was two years ago, then maybe I wo
