Masuk‘Why are the tastiest apples always forbidden? Why do we have to sacrifice our love because our parents got engaged?’ These questions rushed through my mind as he kissed me deeply, pinning me against the wall. I knew that after this, he would say cruel things to me with those same lips, but I couldn't resist him. I loved him but I hated myself for loving him. “Marcus, please. We can't keep doing this.” I begged. But as usual, he ignored my pleas and continued in his caresses, making me want him more. We were lost in our forbidden desires once again, not realizing that the door was left unlocked. Why does my stepbrother keep seducing me? What if our parents discover our secret affair?

"Do it," he says with an emotionless face, as if life in front of him doesn't matter to him."No... no, no, no, please," the man begs, moving toward him, trying to reach Asher. He crawls towards him with bloody hands, leaving a trace of red on the floor. It soon washes out when the raindrops hit the floor."Please," as the man nears Asher, his hands move to his pocket, and he removes a knife from the pocket. The sharp knife glints when the thunder shoots in the sky.Asher doesn't panic or react to the weapon in his hand. He stays silent and looks at the man directly. The man crawls up from the ground and moves toward Asher at greater speed, pointing the knife toward his heart.Just when he is about to reach him, a gun shoots. And the man is dead with a bullet in the center of his forehead.Asher watches the man's lifeless body fall to the ground and lifts his gaze toward the man. Adam stands there, gun pointing towards him."Good job," Asher starts to head towards the door but stops a few feet away."Ask Steven to track down this wolf hybrid for me. I want all the details about her. We need her for our next plan at all costs.""Yes Boss," And he is gone.* * * * * * * * * *The doors are locked, windows shut, and the sound of the thunderstorm vibrates in the room.Asher is curled up in his bed. The pain from the old wounds on his hand makes him want to scream. He tightly shuts his eyes, clenching his jaws so tight to avoid the sound of muffling. He sleeps that night as the nightmare plays in his head.He doesn't remember much of his first years of childhood, but being in a dark and cold place. He doesn't know if it's just in his head or because he is lonely. But when his adoptive father, Derek Simon, took him into Simon's family, he locked Asher in the small shed outside the house. He wasn't allowed to leave it or go inside the house unless his adoptive father gave him explicit permission. It was Paul, his stepbrother, who secretly unlocked the door for Asher when his father was not around. He was the only warmth Asher had in his life.Being a child and fearing storms is normal. Asher was the same, and staying alone made it worse for him. But Derek didn't like it. He needs Asher and wanted him to be unafraid of anything. So, he locked Asher in the shed on stormy nights. It had made Asher's fear of storm tenfold. Gradually he had just learned how to hide it from his father. It was not like Asher wasn't looked after by Simon. Derek made sure Asher ate well, at least. He wasn't being hurt when he was in the shed, so Asher could say that it was the closest thing he had to a safe place. It was just suffocating in summer, freezing in winter, bearable in between, and lonely all the time. But during storms, Derek would simply lock Asher inside the shed, but other times he'd force Asher to be outside and train so that he could learn how to be resistant and powerful in any situation.Asher would get sick often until he wouldn't anymore because his body had developed a strong immune system over time.Derek is dead now. Asher killed him with his own hand. But the storms remind him of that now, even when he is safe and free. His fear of getting struck by lightning and the sound of the storm when he is outside is terrifying. But thankfully, or unfortunately, he has gotten used to being close to death to a point where he doesn't fear it anymore, which is what Derek wanted.A mindless and fearless doll he could use however he needed.Asher was trained from six to seventeen years old or so by Derek. He stopped after that because it was pointless. Asher became stronger and more skilled than most of his trainers and had grown a high pain tolerance. As the days went on, Asher became the feared and respected mobster, calm and collected. High temper, is impatient, very protective of his people, is smart, and is closed off, but he is a great charmer."Everyone is fascinated by monsters, but none would dare come close to one, let alone love it."In the end, he had to be powerful.* * * * * * * * * *"What the f*ck?" I dialed the number over and over again, but it was still the same result. The series of dial tone beeps on and on until the call was cut. The only two reasons I could think of was either she was asleep or she just didn't want to talk to me. But both reasons seemed strange due to the fact that I knew Tallulah never slept early nor would she want to avoid speaking to me. We hadn't gotten into any dispute lately, and most importantly, the last time we parted after she strode into her dorm, her chins were flushed against her will with a warm smile across her lips. I could feel a smirk creeping across my lips as I thought of how perfect she looked as she walked away into the girl's dormitory with her box trailing behind her. Even t
Marcus' POVThe sight of the other students lifting their hands to answer questions, and the sound of their voice as they did so enthusiastically gave me irks. It reminded me of the first year of school when I had been like them, doing all I can to stay relevant and loved by the lecturers. After a while, I saw the real pictures and realized that it was all unnecessary since it only mattered if the exams and tests were passed properly. Most of the students in my department were men who were advanced in age, some even as old as my father. They must've come to take the course just like my father made me do because they needed the certificate for a job they wanted. The thought of how long I was going to have to deal with this unending circle of classes, tests, and exams annoyed me deeply. Not just a week or a month, six whole months which would probably rob me of my mind before I was halfway through it.I thought of just leaving and spending the rest of the session hanging out with some
Lililan's POVThe sight of the three siblings, Tallulah, Marcus and Kathie leaving the house in the sparkling Ferrari threw my mind into tides of thoughts as I wondered how their school would be like and how they would cope now that they would be away from home during the weekends. I wasn't that worried about Marcus since he had already been in school for four years, graduating with a perfect grade. My concern was about the girls, Kathie and Lula. Before I graduated highschool, I had met Tallulah's father and had the affair with him that changed my life forever. My dream of going to college to study a course which would help me do what I loved was destroyed with the sight of that strange but handsome fellow. When I found out I was pregnant and was far from the prevention stage, I kept the secret away from my grandmother who I loved since I had lost my parents when I was just ten years old. Life was already rough for us since she and my uncle struggled to pay the fees and afford my e
Kathie's POV The days blurred together in a whirlwind of lectures, assignments, and the steady rhythm of Bella's presence in our dorm room. Each evening brought a quiet routine: Bella engrossed in her coding projects, me buried in textbooks, both of us occasionally exchanging brief words or glances that seemed to convey more than what was spoken aloud. One particularly exhausting Friday afternoon, after a marathon of classes, I returned to our room feeling drained. Bella was already there, as usual, her focus intent on her laptop screen. I flopped down on my bed, staring up at the ceiling with a sigh."You look beat," Bella remarked, her voice breaking the silence. She glanced over at me with a mixture of concern and curiosity.I managed a weak smile. "Yeah, these lectures are really taking it out of me."Bella nodded sympathetically. "I get it. Want me to make some tea again? It might help you unwind."I hesitated for a moment, touched by her thoughtfulness. "Actually, that sounds p
83. Kathie's POVThe following days of lectures came in a rush, each day filled with two or more lectures which lasted two hours each. There was so much information to take in as the lectures did their best to make sure that everyone understood what they were teaching. I knew it wasn't this way in ot
I stormed down the sidewalk, the rhythmic click of my heels mirrored the rapid beating of my heart. Marcus always had a way of getting under my skin, and it seemed he enjoyed doing so. I replayed the conversation we had in the car. The way he smirked, the playful tone in his voice, and the reckless
Kathie's POV “It looks nice.” I heard Lula say as she stared at the buildings through the window. “It does.” I whispered, a lump forming in my throat. “I just hope it's as nice as it looks.” My eyes trailed down the pathway, noticing the group of girls clad in various styles of clothing, some wi
Kathie's POV “I was just hurrying up since we're already late.” Marcus apologized, before my dad could get the chance to say a word. Dad's eyes shot at him in a defiant look, before moving and resting on I and Lula at the backseat. “And who's fault is it that you're this late.” He shot back. Th
