It all started before I was even born, back in my mom's hometown, it is called Shadowbrook.

She was just coming back from her doctor's appointment, bursting with joy to tell my grandma that she was pregnant.

But as the rain poured down and my mom sat in the car, she noticed a helpless woman caught up in the rain.

This woman wore a blue bandanna and a loose button-up shirt.

Out of kindness, my mom offered her a ride and the woman accepted, sitting beside her.

Everything seemed fine until they reached the woman's destination. Just before getting out of the car, she grabbed my mom's hand and looked into her eyes.

"You are carrying a girl who belongs to the darkness," she whispered urgently. "Kill her or give her to me, for I will protect her from her dark fate!"

My mom was terrified and quickly pulled her hand away. But the woman continued, saying, "The claws, the bite, the cries! When you see these three signs, you'll know where to find me!" She left her card on the car's front desk and disappeared.

At first, my mom brushed off the encounter. But as time went on, she noticed the woman stalking her, watching silently from a distance. That's when my mom made the decision to leave Shadowbrook for good.

Leaving that town was a fresh start for us. I grew up like any other kid, attending a private school where I was perfect both academically and socially.

My parents, Lucia Murphy and David Murphy, may be separated, but they are both successful professionals who have always been protective of their only daughter.

They shielded me from the harsh realities of the world. However, it was my own choice to never have a boyfriend or experience any meaningful romantic relationships.

Yeah, it's true. I'm Julia Murphy, and even though I'm turning 18 this winter, I've never been in a relationship. I guess I'm just waiting for someone special, someone who I can really connect with, whether I want to or not.

According to my friend, it's impossible for a girl as attractive as me to stay single.

I have long, black wavy hair that falls down to my waist, and a delicate face with unique hazel-colored eyes that I don't see around me very often.

I'm taller than Victoria and just as slim as her. People say I'm smart and compassionate. I'm definitely not a crybaby. I'm confident and have good communication skills.

So as I was saying, everything was going pretty smoothly until my 16th birthday. That day changed everything.

It was a wonderful day, and after my birthday party, I was so tired that I decided to go to bed early.

I fell asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow, but this night was different. It was the worst night I could ever remember.

That night, I saw him for the first time. The thing that woke me was his warm breath against my neck, and it made me feel both uneasy and pleasurable at the same time.

I moaned and opened my eyes, and there he was. The most beautiful face with burning hot red eyes.

He seemed strangely intoxicated yet incredibly attractive. His seductive eyes and muscular body were more than I could handle.

I lifted my head to get closer to him, wanting to feel his breath on my skin. But he slowly backed away and whispered, "Oh, not yet, my love!"

My breath came in a gasp as I pushed myself up toward him, my palms slick with sweat.

Beneath me, the twisted, lifeless forms of countless bodies lay stacked, their empty eyes staring up in eternal horror.

Burning in the middle of high wild flames these bodies were fresh. A scream clawed at my throat, but fear choked it back.

Yet what mattered to me was his eyes they were hypnotizing me in a way I can't describe.

His beautiful reddened black eyes fixed on me, this pile we sat on was under a tree, a twisted wide-branched tree, with millions of tiny leaves.

He once again approached me and licked my neck, I squeezed the sheet under my hands without knowing, my breath rising with each passing second.

“My Julia, I am coming to find you!” He whispered in my ear, his breath driving me crazy.

But I realized that there’s another sense that is pulling me away from him, a sense of unease. I forced my eyes open.

But as I opened my eyes, I found myself alone in my own dimly lit room, the air heavy with an oppressive sense of dread.

The room is filled with strange, unsettling whispers that seem to echo from every corner, making my skin crawl with unease.

As I explored the room, I noticed shadows flickering across the walls, shifting and twisting into horrifying shapes but not of creatures, but rather of human engagement of all sense, a couple, kissing each other, a man, stabbing another one, a body, hanging from the fan.

The temperature dropped suddenly, sending a shiver down my spine as an icy chill gripped my bones.

Suddenly, a figure materializes before me, the same man, his seductive gaze once again locked with mine.

His voice was a low, haunting whisper that sent chills down my spine as he spoke to me.

His words are like honeyed poison, "Surrender to me, and the power and pleasure beyond your wildest dreams shall be yours!".

My heart raced with fear and curiosity at the same time, but I found myself drawn toward him despite the terror.

I had no idea this was a dream still, as the dream progresses, my body begins to respond unwillingly, my heart pounding in my chest and my breath coming in shallow gasps.

I felt a strange sensation coursing through my veins, a mixture of fear and exhilaration that left me trembling with curiosity.

Suddenly, the room began to spin wildly around me, the walls closing in as if to swallow me whole.

My screams echoed through the darkness in reality against my dream as I struggled to break free from the grip of this nightmare.

He approached me as his shadow on the wall shifted and twisted into countless creatures.

He was above me, his fingers sliding up my bare legs.

“Tell Luke I’m here,” I called out, my voice steady. One of them—tall, broad-shouldered, and holding a rifle like he actually knew how to use it—stepped forward, his gun trained on me. “Are you really willing to stand against your *Darklord*?” I exhaled a slow, measured breath, tilting my head. “If you so much as touch me, he’ll rip you apart himself,” I said smoothly, a smirk tugging at my lips. “You really think he’ll let you keep your head if you harm someone like *me*?” That gave him pause. His grip on the weapon didn’t loosen, but his stance shifted. He turned slightly, whispering something to the other guard. After a moment of hushed deliberation, they both moved forward and grabbed me, their grip firm but not cruel. As they dragged me inside, I kept my eyes sharp, committing every detail to memory—security cameras mounted high in the corners, blind spots where shadows pooled, structural weaknesses in the walls. Unnecessary gaps, weak reinforcements. I stumbled forward

The night was thick, suffocating in its silence. There was no sound—no wind, no distant chirp of insects, no rustling of animals in the underbrush. Nothing but the faint ticking of the cooling engine and our own uneasy breaths. Then, a whisper of movement. A rustling—so faint it could have been a trick of the wind. Except… there was no wind. Our eyes darted left to right, muscles coiled, breaths held. Then, in the blink of an eye, the blood on the map surged—racing toward our location with the speed of a lightning bolt. And before we could react—before we could even process what was happening—it passed. A blur of crimson, streaking by our vehicle like a phantom in the night.I tilted my head out of the car window, peeking out into the oppressive darkness. My breath hitched. A shadow had just passed by—too fast, too fluid. My pulse pounded. “I swear I saw something—someone—right beside me!” I gasped, whipping my head back toward the others. “Dominic wouldn’t toy with us lik

Chaos consumed the streets as people scrambled to evacuate, their fear visible in the air. The tension was suffocating, thick with the weight of uncertainty and dread. While Hennia explored the police stations, she moved from one lockup to another, her urgency mounting with every empty cell. She was relentless, shoving open heavy doors, scanning the dimly lit interiors, and barking orders at anyone who got in her way. But Dominic was nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Vega was on a mission of her own. She cornered a guard, that smug bastard who had the audacity to chuckle as he was taking Dominic away. Vega’s whip lashed out. The sharp crack echoed through the corridor, followed by a choked cry as he crumpled to his knees. “Where did they take him?” she demanded, her voice cold as steel. Another strike. The guard coughed, blood trickling from his split lip. “They said… they said they were taking him to Asco for surgery! That’s all I know, I swear! Please, let me go!” He gasped, c

Of course, he did. And he was waiting. I bolted toward the center, stopping just beyond the shimmering barrier that separated us. My heart pounded, but I refused to let him see any hesitation. “I’m not afraid of you,” I muttered, my fists clenched so tightly that my nails nearly pierced my palms. My voice was steady, unwavering. His eyes gleamed with amusement, but I didn’t let it shake me. “If you think I came here for you, you’re mistaken,” I continued, my stance firm. “I came to warn you. Unlike you, I don’t stab people in the back. I face my enemies head-on.” His lips curled into a slow, knowing smirk. “Julia…” he mused, taking a measured step closer to the barrier. “Did I ever tell you about fireflies?” I stiffened as his voice lowered, rich with eerie nostalgia. “When I was little, I loved collecting them,” he said, his gaze distant as if he were lost in some fond memory. “I was fascinated by how they became their own torches in the dark. It seemed… hopeful.”

To this day, she remains the only one who knows the whereabouts of the Hunters. The next pages were gone—ripped from the book as if someone had deliberately tried to erase the truth. My breath hitched, my chest tightening with a sickening weight. A wave of betrayal crashed over me, suffocating in its intensity. I had been deceived. The woman I had believed to be helpless, the one I had pitied, the one who unfortunately carried me—she was the very person who had placed me in danger all along. A bitter laugh escaped my lips as I rubbed my chest, trying to soothe the ache twisting inside me. I clenched my jaw and, with a sharp exhale, slammed the book shut. The sound echoed in the silence, a sharp punctuation to my growing rage. My hands trembled as I pushed away from the desk, stumbling out of the room like the air itself had turned toxic. “Are you alright?” Jade’s voice cut through the fog of my thoughts. I barely registered her concern. My hand shot out, signaling for her to b

"I didn’t find a name," she said, shaking her head. "But that’s not even the worst part." She turned the book, revealing a thick layer of ripped-out pages. A void of missing knowledge. A deliberate erasure. "Since everyone knows this text is supposed to be indestructible, someone must have forcibly removed the missing pieces and hidden them," Vega concluded, stepping back. Her body sagged, as though the weight of this discovery had drained her last reserves of strength. A deep unease settled in my chest. If someone had gone to such lengths to keep this information buried, it could only mean one thing—the truth hidden within these pages had the power to end him. "Can I read it?" I asked, my voice quieter now, uncertain. Vega nodded. "Go ahead." She left the book open for me. Jade placed a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "We’ll be right outside if you need anything," she said before leading the others out, leaving me alone with the tattered remains of a history someone had t
