Chapter 3

*Neville Pov*

“Perfect!” I mumbled after throwing my bag into the car I have parked under my window yesterday night.

“Now, have to wait for the show.” I muttered and settled on the bed glancing at the clock.

“Hello!” I said, lifting the call and waited for the message.

“Thanks for everything, Sir.” I said, hanging up and took a deep breath.

After half an hour, I heard a car entering the parking lot. I smirked and started counting the seconds and heard my name being shouted within ten seconds.

I stood and walked outside my room before climbing down the stairs and reached the living area where my Dad and Jennifer along with Kate and John staring at me.

“This is it!” I whispered to myself.

“What is it?” I asked, staring at them with a blank expression and folded my arms.

“You removed me from my job.” John shouted, making everyone else flinch.

“Did I now?” I asked, frowning and then shook my head.

“What reason did I gave?” I asked innocently.

“That I am not efficient.” He replied, glaring at me.

“I am sure I have not such liberty to remove you with that reason on my own.” I said sighing.

“Well, the other two heads from other departments gave the same statement.” He mumbled fisting his hands.

“This was supposed to happen six months back if you remember but I asked them to give you another chance in which you failed I guess.” I said shrugging.

“No! This is your revenge for the reason I…” he started saying the reason, but Kate rushed near him before holding his hand.

“Don’t worry, John. My Dad will give you some great job.” She said, assuring him.

“I am not removed. I just got sent to a lower level and will not get promoted unless I work for one whole year there no matter what as per company rules.” John explained through gritted teeth.

“Oh! And I forgot to mention something. I actually called your university and took back all the leave letter I lied back. I don’t want to lie again in my life you see.” I said turning towards Kate.

“What?” she screeched covering her mouth.

“Yes! I mean I lied to Dad about you cheating with my boyfriend and didn’t want to let other lies stay.” I explained again.

“You… you…” she stuttered before shaking her head.

“I will lose my whole year with so many leaves.” She mumbled to herself shaking her head.

“What? Do you think I will let you go when you were actually fucking my boyfriend while making me write your leave letters by telling me you are enjoying life with your friends?” I asked glaring at her.

“What? Are you thinking how do I know that? Well, it all took a few calls and few appointment dates of yours to me.” I added when she stared at me in shock.

“Why are you doing all this, Nev?” Dad asked shaking his head.

“Don’t worry, Dad! I have resigned from the job giving the wonderful reason.” I replied smiling.

“What did you do?” he asked, holding my hand.

“Just that I didn’t like unethical ways of the directors.” I replied, shrugging and he stepped back in shock.

“Why are you guys so shocked? I am like this, right? The person who goes around some already taken guy and that too my little sisters.” I said, sighing and started walking towards the main door.

“One more thing!” I said, turning around to face them.

“You hurt me and I will hurt you back. Never forget that like never. And I am leaving this house forever.” I said, glaring at all of them before leaving the house.

I took a deep breath, settling inside the car and started driving towards the airport away from these people.

“I will be not at home and going to out of the country. Call me when you get this message.” I sent a voicemail to Nicole reaching the airport and rushed inside.

“Where to Maam?” I heard the repeated question from the person behind the desk.

“India!” I replied and released the breath which I held feeling not good about going there.

“Namasthey!” I heard the air hostess voice and jerked up from the stairs.

“Yeah, yeah!” I mumbled before reaching my seat and settled in it.

Why am I going there? What will I get after all these years? If she wanted to, then she could have met me or even talked to me all these eighteen years right?

Well, the people who wanted you to be there in your life made a great impression on you right? I asked myself sarcastically and shook my head.

You need to do this to just have a closure and leave her alone completely. It is better than the questions of ‘what if’ in your mind.

Hello India! I hope you will be good to me and I will be good to you in return. Just don’t let someone hurt me, Ok?

I smiled to myself and stepped outside the airport. I walked near to the taxi and asked them to take me near an address.

“First time in India, Madam?” Driver asked starting the car.

“Yes! And I wish for a good experience.” I replied, staring outside the window at so many people passing around us either in vehicles or by walking.

“There are good people, Madam. Everyone will take care of you.” He said smiling and I smiled back.

So, it is really colorful like I read about the place. I think I saw all the colors somewhere here or there.

There are not just big businesses, but many small businesses actually and then the car passed a long bridge which seems to be even more packed with people.

“Famous bridge in Kolkata, Madam.” Driver explained and I nodded at him.

“Thank you!” I said, getting down from the car and paid him.

“All the very best for great experiences, Madam.” He said before driving away making me chuckle.

I slowly walked towards a big house which is not big by the tallness but big with the space it is occupying.

“Yes?” someone woman opened the door and stared at me.

“Who are you?” she asked before I could say a word.

“What are you still doing here? Go and do the dishes otherwise you will skip them saying you have work at another house.” Someone scolded her and I glanced behind to see a another woman.

“Aunty! I am not finding my earrings.” I immediately heard another voice and turned to see a girl who seems to be Kate’s age walking towards the door.

“Who is she?” That girl asked the woman.

“I too don’t know, but seems to be a foreigner.” The elder woman replied.

“Foreigner? Dad will kill us if someone enters here. Why don’t we send her away?” the girl asked the woman.

“Because she doesn’t have the gold color hair right?” The Woman asked and I stopped myself from laughing.

“Yeah! It is black, but there is even gold too.” The Girl said nodding.

“What is happening here? And who is she?” I heard a booming voice and glanced behind them to see an elder man walking towards us.

“She just came, Bhai. I don’t know who she is.” The woman replied hurriedly and stepped back.

“Who are you? And what do you want here?” he asked rudely making me frown at him.

“Is this Revathi’s house?” I asked back.

“Yes! She is my wife and you are?” he asked and I immediately glanced him from his head to toes.

“Not bad!” I said out loud.

“Excuse me?” he asked with shock face, which he immediately covered with his usual blank face.

“Well, Revathi is my mother and I am here to meet my mother. So, excuse me.” I said picking up my back and started taking a step inside when I heard a loud clash somewhere from inside the house.
