*Neville Pov*
Everyone moved away from the door hearing the sound and turned back to see the reason for it while I too glanced inside to see who made such a noise.
Why these three are not moving? I thought, frowning when I couldn’t see a thing inside the house.
“Move!” I said, pushing myself between them and with a lot of effort stepped before them.
“I am not used to suspense.” I said when they gave shock sounds.
I placed the bag on the floor before looking at the whole inside of the house and then my eyes fell on some woman standing a little near to us with some utensils on the ground before her legs.
Narrowing my eyes, I stared at the woman who is looking back at me with shock covering her face.
I gasped before taking a step back realizing she is my Mom. Am I sure? I thought and then nodded to myself because she definitely is.
Except the Saree she is covered with and the long hair instead of short, everything is same as per the photo I hid in my room.
“Mom!” I whispered and she stepped back in more shock.
“You… you…” she just stuttered, but didn’t say a word.
“What are you doing here?” I heard a voice and shook my head when the before woman stood in front of me.
“She is my Mom!” I said, pointing at her.
“And?” she asked, folding her hands.
“I am her Daughter. Are you slow in getting into the head?” I asked frowning at her.
“How dare you?” she shouted glaring at me.
“Kalyani!” my Mom’s husband said before standing beside this Kalyani woman.
“Why are you here?” he asked with his hands holding behind him.
“Oh god! How many times do I have to tell you all? My Mom is staying here and I want to meet her. I think she has enough holiday without me for eighteen whole years.” I said rolling my eyes.
“Mom! What is she saying?” the before girl asked my Mom walking near to her.
“Mom!” she called again, shaking her.
“Lakshmi! Go to your room.” The guy said or I think ordered because the girl immediately left even though she didn’t want to.
“Didn’t Bhabhi told you that she will never be able to meet you?” Kalyani woman asked staring at me.
“Did she? I don’t remember her words. You see I was just a kid.” I said, staring at them and then at my Mom.
“How are you, Mom?” I asked, staring at her.
“What? You used to scold me so much when I do something wrong or praise me when I do something good. What happened now?” I asked, raising my eyebrows.
“Is that how you talk to your Mom?” the guy asked frowning at me.
“What is your name?” I asked, staring at him.
“Excuse me?” he asked frowning.
“I am sure that is not your name. Now, tell me your name.” I literally demanded.
“Harsha Roy!” he replied and I nodded forwarding my hand.
“Neville! You can call me Nev if you like me, otherwise stick with Nev, Step-Dad.” I said after he held my hand.
“Step-Dad?” he asked, taking away his hand.
“Yes! You married my Mom right? Wow! I am such a lucky girl. I have a beautiful Step-Mom and Handsome Step-dad.” I said, patting my back and started walking towards Mom but stopped beside him.
“Are you handsome even in your heart?” I asked, staring at him and walked away ignoring his shocked look.
However, when I stepped before her I couldn’t say a word and felt numb everywhere. She seems to be in the same position.
Why am I feeling this much? I shouldn’t feel right? I thought, shaking my head and gave her a small forced smile.
“How are you?” I asked, to which she shook her head.
“Fine! You?” she asked in a small voice before glancing behind me.
“Do you need to be so reluctant to talk to me even after all these years?” I asked frowning at her and felt the hurt inside but I didn’t let it out.
“No!” she mumbled and moved her hand but stopped when that Kalyani Woman stood beside us.
“You need to leave this house.” She said, holding my hand and started dragging me towards the door.
“Well, seems like everyone is lying about Indians completely. They are the worst hosts I have ever known.” I said, sighing and picked up my bag on the way.
“Stop!” I heard my Step-Dad’s voice and turned to see him fidgeting with his hand.
“You can stay here, but do not talk about your Dad.” He said after a few minutes.
“Ok! You are such a sweet Step-Dad.” I said pulling his cheeks.
“Do not act foolish and you are not a kid.” He said stepping back.
“How do you know? You never knew anything about me, right?” I asked, folding my hands.
“And you have a huge responsibility on your shoulders.” I added when he opened his mouth to say something.
“What?” he asked, frowning.
“I always read about Step-Mom’s in the fairy tales like the cruelness and everything but never about a Step-dad of a princess. So, you need to show your attitude and I will decide it to be the general view of the Step-Dad’s.” I replied shrugging.
“Didn’t your Dad taught you any manners?” Kalyani woman who is my Aunt I guess asked staring at me with disgust.
“The person who would have done that, got hidden from you all. Now, show me my room.” I said, walking towards the stairs.
When no one moved, I sighed and started walking towards the stairs while stealing glances towards my Mom.
“It’s ok! My little sister will do the honors.” I said and Lakshmi immediately stepped away from hiding under the stairs with guilty expression.
“Dad…” she started saying scratching her neck.
“We will talk later.” That’s all he said and she glared at me.
“What? Didn’t like my nick name?” I asked frowning.
“You are rude to my parents and you just booked me in front of my Dad.” She muttered angrily before climbing the stairs.
“Great!” I mumbled, shaking my head and followed her.
“This is your room!” she said, opening a corner one door.
“Ok! Thank you little sister.” I said to which she grumbled and started walking away.
“Why do you guys need this much house for so little members?” I asked making her stop.
“Here I live with my parents while my Aunt who is my Dad’s sister live with her family too, and sometimes many family members come to stay.” She replied emphasizing on my parents.
“More family and more fun.” I said, smiling to which she huffed and walked away.
I shook my head and entered the room before closing the door. I leaned on it and released the breath from inside which I held from the moment I glanced at my Mom.
What am I doing here? I thought holding my head but shrugged away the doubts deciding to see how it will go for a few days.
*Neville Pov*I groaned walking all around the room another time before sitting on the small bed present in the room. There is no air conditioner and then the room is too small along with the bed. There is so much dust too.And to top of all these, I am hungry. I rubbed my stomach and stood up immediately. I am their guest and I can just ask them without suffering the hunger while sitting here.“Anybody here?” I asked climbing down the stairs and then looked around until I smelt something from one side of the house.“This is kitchen?” I asked myself before walking towards that direction.“I am hungry and I need something to eat.” I said entering the kitchen only to stop in my tracks looking at my Mom near the stove.“This early?” I heard a voice and turned to see Kalyani Aunty coming inside the kitchen from another door and I can see some trees from that door.“Yeah! I even skipped breakfast thinking I would eat something Indian reaching here.” I replied shrugging and walked towards t
*Neville Pov*“What is it, Step-Aunt?” I asked her frowning when she stood before the main door folding her arms herself.“You said a bad word to me and I need you to leave this house right now.” She stated glaring at me.“What happened, Kalyani?” we heard an old voice and turned to see the same old man I saw shouting while walking towards the road.“Your grand daughter just insulted me, Uncle.” Aunt replied and I stared at the person in shock before realizing he is my grandfather.“She is not my granddaughter.” He said, coughing and walked back into his small house after staring at me with so much anger which actually surprised me.I sighed, knowing well I don’t have any patience to go and bear his indifference when I don’t even know him. And he doesn’t know me to hate me like this.“See? He was fine with his daughter in a normal way until you came to this house. Now, he will stay away from his daughter because they again can think now about the mistake your Mom did.” She said shaki
*Neville Pov*“Bhabhi! What are you doing here?” I frowned in my sleep hearing the words and half opened my eyes whether there is really my step-aunt in the room or am I dreaming about her.God! Please don’t let it be a dream. I mean, how can I dream about her? I thought and felt twisting inside my stomach.“I just want to look at her properly, Kalyani.” I heard a small voice and stilled without releasing a breath.Mom! I thought immediately knowing well that voice belongs to her. She wants to see me properly? I thought and felt happy.“You know you can’t be near her. You promised your Dad and Bhai that you will never have contact with her.” Aunt said and I immediately wished I can get up right this moment. Then I would cover that Aunt with my blanket and roll her in it before leaving her at some place and then I may be able to be with Mom.“I… know! But…” Mom started saying and was again stopped by someone who is not a surprise here. This Aunt is the main villain in my story and I ca
*Neville Pov*“Why are you coming with us?” Lakshmi asked the moment we walked out of the house.“Because I want to.” I replied, shrugging and left her hand but not his.“She wants to meet Dileep alone and that too alone. But our family will not accept for it so it seems like I am being with them, but I will be a little far from them.” Yash explained.“I know about that. I actually understood with her eye signal to you.” I said, assuring him.“Then why are you coming with us? Now I have to introduce you to him and miss a few minutes of our meeting.” Lakshmi said glaring at me.“We both too need some alone moments right, even know we just returned to the house I can’t get enough of him.” I said staring at Lakshmi while Yash still in his face.I burst out laughing, staring at their both faces and we finally reached the park with the both of them completely silent.“Dileep!” Lakshmi shouted and rushed towards him as that guy is standing leaning on a tree.“How are you, Lakshmi?” he asked
*Yash Pov*“The house is so pleasant after she left. It was such a headache with her always talking and she doesn’t even have respect for any elder.” Mom started the moment we all are having our dinner.“Didn’t we thought that her father will do something while deciding this marriage? Well, now we can see what he planned to do.” She added.“I will talk to Dileep’s parents tomorrow.” Uncle said, glancing at Lakshmi, who is still sad and just stopped crying.“Before that we should talk to Ben, so that he will not do anything of he did this.” Dad suggested to which Uncle nodded slowly.“We will do it in the first place and then talk to Dileep’s parents.” Uncle decided and they all finished dinner before leaving while Revu just sat at her place.“Are you ok, Revu?” I asked, sitting beside her.“I shouldn’t have slapped at her, but what she did was wrong right? It is wrong of her to follow her father’s words like that.” She replied and started crying.“How do you know that she did as per h
*Neville Pov*“I want this one.” I asked the shop keeper and took a small popsicle before walking out of the shop and continued walking towards right which I am doing from the moment I left the Mom’s house.“Neville? Is that you?” I heard someone calling and turned to my left to see a jeep stopping beside me and Yash is in the driver seat releasing a breath.“I have been searching for you since yesterday. I never thought it would be this tough to search you.” He said getting down from the jeep and I rolled my eyes before continuing my walk.“Where are you going? I was searching for you and finally found you.” He said following me.“So? Do I have to give any care for that information?” I asked, shaking my head and stared at the small shops with the items I already bought from other stores.“Neville!” he said, holding my hand, making me stop and walked to stand before me.“I am sorry about the incident day before yesterday.” He said with a pleading look.“Ok! Now, can I go? I need to fi
*Neville Pov*“Ok! Don’t be nervous.” Yash said when we stepped inside the house making me raise my eyebrow at him.“Ok! Then try to be nervous.” He said rolling his eyes and I chuckled.“Re… Aunty! Uncle!” he shouted and I smiled at him seeing how he controlled the words he was about to use but stopped.“Neville!” I heard a whisper and turned to see everyone entering the living room and Mom staring at me.“Thanks for doing this, Yash.” Mom said walking towards him.“I didn’t do anything.” He said feeling discomfort.“What do you mean by that? I am here only because of you.” I said, staring at him to which everyone frowned at me.“Yeah! If not for his amazing ability in searching then I would have never returned, right?” I added to which they all nodded and Yash frowned at me to which I winked.“I am really sorry about everything, Neville.” Mom said turning towards me.“It’s ok! I am really tired. I will go to the room I stayed before if it is still empty.” I said taking the bag from
*Yash Pov*“Where are you lost? If you want to be in your thoughts, then why are we even here?” I asked giving her a push making her turn towards me.“This is great!” she said, looking around and immediately cringed.“Well, how can I not show you the famous bridge closely?” I asked and glanced around to see the whole bridge covered with vehicles and the horns are just blazing.“Who brings a girl to here at evening?” she asked looking up.“You said everywhere.” I replied, shrugging and stopped myself from laughing at her expression.“The park near your house is much better. I will go there and sit alone.” She said getting up from the bike which I parked in the footpath so that we can sit on it.“Alone? You made me not even rest when I returned from work and you want to stay alone?” I asked showing too much shock.“Not bad, Mr.Yash! I thought you are nothing but a bore. And here you even know how to joke.” She said, giving a once over look.“What can I say? If we have to stay at the gre
