Dante POV

Isabella moved her hand to my chest, her fingers resting gently against me as she looked up at me. There was something that made it obvious how much my offer meant to her. “Well, I would love to do that,” she said softly, “but I don’t want to ask you to do something you don’t want to do.”

“You didn’t ask me.” I held her gaze. “I offered.”

“I know, but…”

She hesitated, like she still wasn't completely convinced that I was doing this because I genuinely wanted to.

  • Desire And Revenge    EPILOGUE

Isabella POVFEW MONTHS LATERI never thought happiness could feel this good. A beautiful home, a successful career and a man who loved me without reservation. Sometimes, I still found myself wondering how I had gotten so lucky. "Dante, are you ready?"I stood in front of the bedroom mirror, adjusting my earrings while my husband buttoned his shirt behind me. "Almost."I glanced at him through the mirror. "You've been saying that for the past ten minutes."He chuckled, slipping his arms around my waist. "Your parents invited us for dinner and I intend to make a m good impression."I laughed. "My parents already adore you.""Doesn't mean I should stop trying."I turned in his arms, wrapping mine around his neck. "You're impossible.""And yet, you married me.""Unfortunately."He narrowed his eyes playfully before lowering his head and kissing me and I smiled against his lips.A few years ago, I couldn't have imagined that this would be my life. Dante had always been a complicated man,

  • Desire And Revenge    I love you too

Dante POVGuns were still on the coffee table where I’d left them. A half-drunk glass of scotch was there too, and the condensation from the liquid had made a ring on the wood because it’d been sitting there for so long. The lights were still on because I’d abandoned everything before I left to save Varos. Isabella stepped inside and surveyed the room, searching for the changes that had occurred over the past few months but she wouldn’t find any because nothing was different. I hadn’t changed anything, not even the room where she kept her art supplies because I’d been too pathetic to throw anything away.I came up behind her, staring at her small frame in my living room. She was in a red summer dress, her olive skin looking delicious in the color. Her arms were by her sides, and her breathing was quiet.I approached her slowly, my hands slightly shaking from the moment I was about to embrace. For the last few months, I had sat in this apartment alone, drinking scotch and trying to for

  • Desire And Revenge    Family Acceptance

Dante POVWhen the doctor discharged me from the hospital, I was relieved to get out of bed and on my feet again. I didn’t feel like a man lying there, helpless with tubes and wires hooked up to my body. When both of my feet hit the tile floor, I finally stood up straight and took a deep breath. The last thing I remembered from that night was snapping someone’s neck before I fell to my knees and collapsed.Isabella watched me warily, like I might tip over and fall once more. There was nothing she could do to catch me, not when I would crush all of her bones with my weight. “Are you alright?”The pain was still in my shoulder, but that would be there for a while. “Yes.”I took her hand in mine, feeling her warm and soft fingers. I gripped them tightly, to make sure they were real. For the last four months, all I’d been holding was booze. “Let’s go.”We left the hospital room and moved into the waiting room, where her entirebfamily was gathered. Her parents were there, along with her au

  • Desire And Revenge    New Beginning

Dante POVI didn’t look at him when I replied. “You’re welcome, Varos.”“I misjudged you,” he admitted quietly. “I never gave you a chance, and I regret that now.”“Can’t say that I blame you. The past sticks to you like glue sometimes, no matter how hard you try to move on. People tend to remember your mistakes longer than anything good you’ve ever done.” I shrugged slightly. “Besides, you were only looking out for your sister and your family. I understand that, and I respect it.”“Doesn’t change the fact that I was wrong,” he said, shaking his head. “I should have listened to my sister. She’s the smartest person I know, and she’s always been a good judge of character. But instead of trusting her instincts and actually listening to what she was telling me, I encouraged my father to get rid of you.”He paused, his expression tightening with regret. “I was so convinced we were protecting her that I refused to consider the possibility that we were wrong. The past four months have been f

  • Desire And Revenge    Varos Came By

Dante POVIsabella had fallen asleep in my arms, her earlier sobs bringing her to exhaustion. She fit against me just the way she used to, even in the small and uncomfortable bed. Her cheek was on my chest, while her arm was hooked around my torso.I cradled her to my side with my arm, making sure she didn’t touch the cold metal of the railing. I watched her for an hour straight, seeing the face that haunted my dreams every night. Her lips parted just the way they used to, showing a small glimpse of her white teeth. Small freckles dotted her olive-toned skin. Her beautiful face, high cheekbones, and luscious lips were exactly as I remembered. It was hard to believe she was really there because I’d fantasized about her so many times that I wasn’t sure if this was just my imagination but my fingers could feel her frame. My eyes could see her chest rise with every breath she took. I could feel her pulse against my skin. I went through hell to get her, risked my neck for a man I didn’t ev

  • Desire And Revenge    What Really Happened

Varos POVAlexei finally turned to me, the shame in his eyes and I knew exactly where that shame came from. “This is all my fault… Fuck.”He clenched his jaw, his eyes black like oil. “I’m so sorry… Sorry doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel.”“We don’t know if that’s the reason.”“Yes, we do,” he said with a hiss. “My appearance at the underground must have set them off maybe they started watching us or they figured out what we’d been doing.”It was the only logical explanation. “But they didn’t come after you.”Alexei turned back to me, his eyebrow raised in surprise. “You’re right…”“Where were you?”“At home.”“Then it seems like they only wanted me. So maybe this had nothing to do with you.”“But how can that be possible?” he countered.“It’s too big of a coincidence.”“But maybe it is just a coincidence or maybe they found out that one of the girls, I bought had been returned to her family.”“Maybe…” He shook his head. “But I’d like to know the truth.”“We may never get it.
