Aurora

Draven waited in front of Xalia’s room dressed, it was past 7:00 pm and the party started an hour ago. The door opened and she stepped out, she stared at him and he stared back at her.

“Let’s go.” He said and walked ahead of her, he heard her groan and he ignored her.

They got out of the house and they both entered the car.

“You are driving?” She asked and he ignored her as he turned on the ignition, Xalia sighed and fell back on the church. She is going to see her family and she isn't excited at all.

“You should use your seat belt.” He said and she slowly used it, he drove out of the mansion and turned on the GPS.

“Great, it takes twenty minutes to get there which means I have twenty minutes to prepare myself.” She muttered and breathed out.

They finally arrived at the party and Draven stopped his car in front of the reporters.

“Ready?” He asked and she nodded, they both got down and Draven moved closer to her, the reporters took pictures of them and Xalia felt uncomfortable, she bowed her head trying to avoid the flashes.

She suddenly felt Draven hold her hand and she glanced at him but he wasn't looking at her, he pulled her among the reporters and she held onto him tightly.

‘Is it true you and your step-sister have been dating the same man?’

‘Is this really your new husband ma’am?’

‘Did Mr. Harrison really cheat on you ma’am?’ The reporters kept asking different questions, they finally got into the building and the guards stopped the reporters from coming in.

Xalia looked around as all eyes turned to them, she saw most of her relatives and she held onto Draven’s arm tightly.

“Draven, I’m scared.” She whispered in fear and Draven looked at her.

“Ignore them.” He replied and pulled her gently into the crowd, Xalia kept her head down as she heard murmurs, she looked at Draven and she noticed he kept looking around like he was searching for someone, he suddenly turned to her and she gave him a questioning look.

“Do you… “

“Xalia.” She heard a familiar voice call and she turned to see Allison.

“Allison.” She called happily and rushed to her, she hugged her tightly and Xalia whimpered in her arms.

“We have a lot to talk about.” Allison said as she pulled away from the hug and Xalia nodded.

“But first, what you need to know is that Draven Wade is not just an… “ Allison trailed off as she realised Draven was right behind her, she giggled nervously and smiled at him.

“Hey, Draven.” She called and he nodded at her.

“Hmm, I will leave now and… “

“Hold on, when did you guys get to Hawaii?” Xalia asked.

“Last night.” She replied.

“Where can we meet up?” Xalia question.

“We have to go.” Draven said before Allison could answer her question, he pulled her away and took her to a table.

“You could have let me talk to her.” Xalia said but Draven ignored her as he took a seat next to her.

She noticed the crowd were all starting to sit and she wondered what was going on, she thought about her mother and wondered why she hadn't seen her yet.

“May I have your attention?” She heard a familiar voice ask and she looked up to see her father standing in front of the crowd, she kept looking around hoping to see Kyle, her step-sister or her mother but there was no sign of them.

“We are all gathered here today to celebrate a lot of things, firstly my daughter's marriage and also the new partnership with Aurora.” He announced and the crowd clapped, Raven scoffed and Xalia glanced at him.

As Xalia watched her father talk about her step-sister’s wedding, for a reason unknown to her, she wasn't feeling anything, all she did was stare at him.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome Kyle Harrison, the reason behind this successful partnership.” He announced and Xalia skipped a beat as she looked around to see where he would show up from, she saw him stand up from a table at the end of the room and she noticed her step-sister, her mum, her step-mother and other relatives gathered there.

‘Why didn't she come to check up on me? Is she not aware of me being here?’ Xalia thought.

Kyle walked to the front of the crowd and Xalia’s father shook hands with him before walking away.

“Hello, good evening.” Kyle said with a smile and Xalia bit her lip, she really needs to talk to him, he needs to say it to her face that he has been playing her all this while.

“Damn, you Harrison.” She heard Draven mutter and she turned to him, he looked so annoyed and he kept tapping his fingers on the table.

“Is everything okay?” She asked and he didn't give her a response. Is she the only one that has no idea of what is going on? What is the deal between her family, Kyle and Draven?

Kyle gave a speech for a few minutes and he also appreciated his wife. In a few minutes, everything ended and people were back to walking around.

Xalia suddenly stood up and walked towards her family’s table, she got there and they all froze on seeing her.

“What the hell is going on?” She asked, turning to Kyle and he chuckled.

“I don't understand… “

“Why the hell are you married to my sister and why is she carrying your child?” She yelled, gaining everyone's attention.

“Xalia, what are you doing?” Her mother whispered and she ignored her.

“Answer me Kyle, we were supposed to get married yesterday, why are you married to her?” She yelled.

“Control your daughter.” Her stepmother said to her mother.

“Xalia, I think you need to calm down, don't... “

“Don't you dare tell me to calm down, answer my question!” She snapped and her father fumed as he noticed the reporters tracking pictures.

“Kyle and I have been in a relationship since high school, we have no idea of what you are talking about.” Her step-sister, Malia, said locking arms with Kyle.

“And as you can see, I am carrying his child already. The media doesn't know yet but thank you for telling them the Harrison now has an heir.” Malia said with a smile and the crowd gasped.

“Really? Why didn't you guys say anything?” Kyle’s mother asked, Xalia didn't notice his parents, all she needed were answers.

“Mrs. Harrison, you knew Kyle and I were dating, we have been dating for years and… “

“I don't know what you are talking about.” She cut Xalia off and she felt like a fool, everyone was staring at her like she was crazy.

“Mum… “ She called with tears clouding her eyes and her mother ignored her. Xalia felt her heart shatter and she ran towards the exit in tears.

Kyle exhaled and Malia smiled at him.

“It's okay, you did the right thing.” She said and pecked his lips.

“Doesn't she deserve an explanation?” He asked Malia and she shrugged.

“I don't care, it is not my problem.”

“Is this all worth it?” Kyle asked and she chuckled.

“For my father? It fucking worth it.”
