Aldo felt himself collapse on the chair as he inhaled deeply. He and Melinda had just finished taking account of the stocks at the warehouse. That was one thing that was able to take his mind off things. And he needed the distraction to help take his mind off Liya a bit. He was thankful that she had come into his life and was trying to help him contrary to the plans Damian had for her.

He knew that if she hadn’t pushed him to get Melinda to check out Damian’s warehouse, he wouldn't have thought

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 102: Her Absence

Aldo slammed his fist on the glass side table one more time. He didn’t know what he was going to gain from any of that, but his bleeding knuckles seemed to give him the peace that he had been looking for. The flow of blood managed to relieve him somehow. But the thought of Liya not coming back to the house only reminded him of how much of a jerk he was. The smell of whatever Aria was preparing in the kitchen filled the house. He could tell that it wasn’t going to be nice but if he dared mention that to her she was going to be mad at him. He would make it up to her somehow. The thought of Alana now roaming the house like it belonged to her again made his hands clench into fists again as he headed downstairs. Liya was the lady of the house, and nothing was going to change it. Whether she was present or not. Alana could only dream. He felt all she needed at that point was space and time to reflect. He was willing to give it to her as long as she was going to come back to him. She could

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 101: A Place To Stay

Everything in Liya was telling her to go back to Aldo’s mansion. But she knew that she couldn’t do that. Not after all the emotional slap that she had received. He didn’t say it to her face, but she felt insulted when he said he would let his ex-wife stay in the house. That was the one thing that she knew she wasn't going to tolerate. The air in her lungs found it difficult to come out. She held on tightly to the edges of the chair. How was she supposed to get on? She had tied everything to them. Her life, her future plans, and even her suffering. She knew that she was never going to be able to blame Aldo for her abuse by Damian but she knew they would be her support system. Especially when her brother was not helpful in any way.. Even she finally knew that there must have been a reason why Damian brought her and Aldo together. But then, why has he been quiet since she was rescued? He must have found out that she was out of the Marino mansion. He must have had a reason for keeping h

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 100: Leaving The House

“What is she talking about?” Liya whispered. Aldo was lost for words. He didn't know what to say to her. Or what she had actually even heard.“You already know that Aldo and I were involved in the past,” Alana started, and she walked towards Liya. Liya couldn’t help but take a step back. She still had her eyes fixed on Aldo as she waited to hear what Aldo had to say about the bomb that had just dropped. But even he was looking down at the little boy. “Who is he? What relationship does he have with Aldo?” Liya asked, now looking at Alana again. Liya felt like she was the only one who could give her a proper answer. “He's Aldo’s child. And I’m here to drop him off.”Liya dug her hands into her hair. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She didn’t even know what she was supposed to think, but she knew that she didn’t want Alana there. The child was someone she had loved spending time with during her stay at Damian’s place, not Alana. She was willing to take care of him until they

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 99: His Child?

It was the first time that Aldo had killed somebody and felt guilty as hell about it. Not that he was guilty of killing Frank. He was guilty that he couldn’t do more to make him suffer. He had thought about taking Frank to his warehouse in the woods and chopping him into a thousand and one pieces. But it was too late to consider anything again. He just wished to go home and take care of Liya the way she deserved. He didn’t care if he was going to have to leave everything behind. Damian was still out there. Aldo even went over to his house, but he wasn’t there.“The coward,” he had whispered. He didn’t really expect much from Damian. But he at least expected him to face him like the man he always claimed to be. Aldo knew that it was only going to be a while before he came out looking for Liya. That only made him realize that getting him married to Liya was something that Damian had planned right from the beginning. But why he went to such lengths to unite them is something Aldo doesn'

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 98: Documents Meeting

Liya quickly had her bath, dressing up in a black gown. She waited until Aria headed to the library with Melinda before she even attempted to pick up her phone to call Lillian again. It didn’t cross her mind for once that Lillian might have just been trying to bait her. She knew that Lillian was Xavier’s cousin and she was sure Xavier would have told her just how dangerous Aldo was. His calm demeanor wasn’t something to play with. She was heading out of the house when Melinda walked in. Melinda looked at her in shock. “Is everything okay, Liya?” she asked, and Liya nodded quickly. The last thing she needed was anybody questioning her about where she was heading. “I just wanted to quickly head out and get a few things,” she said, and Melinda shook her head still. “You know that Sir Aldo had asked me to take care of you,” she said while shaking her head. “I should have put someone else in charge of looking after Aria.”Liya smiled. It was good to know that she was loved and that peo

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 97: His Care

Aldo had purposely been avoiding every event that included him going out in public. He received countless calls from different people asking about his well-being but he was comfortable with remaining in the shadows for the main time. He needed some time away from the public to lay a foundation for a greater plan. He didn’t even leave the house. He left everything that had to do with work to Melinda. She was in charge of making sure that everything ran properly, and so far, everything was perfect. He soaked himself and filled his time with taking care of Liya. Even Liya was shocked that he was there with her at every second but she was comfortable with it. She didn't grumble because it was only his presence she could put up with at that moment. “Don’t you have to go to work?” Liya finally asked on the fourth day, and Aldo frowned. “What happened? Don't you want me by your side? Or do you want to be alone? I would rather be here with you while you go through everything. Or do you wan

  • Desperate Measures   CHAPTER 56: Digging

Liya was already worried about so much. There were ways to stop Damian from coming into the house. But at the same time, she couldn't stop wondering about who had hurt Aria and Aldo. She couldn’t deny the fact that she wanted to feed her curiosity. Aldo had left the house quite early the next morn

“How was it?” Aria asked as soon as Liya walked into the house. Liya dumped her bag on the couch. Even if she wasn’t one to be a slob, she didn’t have a choice with how exhausted she was. Aria carried the bag immediately, understanding how tired she was. “You know you didn’t even have to do this.

Liya took a deep breath, clutching her bag as she stood right in front of Kay’s Institute. She didn’t know what she was supposed to expect from the place or Kay himself. Aldo didn’t see anyone at home as he walked in. To him, it was normal. He already told Liya that she didn’t need to ask for his permission before she went out anymore. And the only thing he could do was guess that every single thing was fine. He checked their trackers, but it showed that they were
