Jessie’s POV

Pushing hair off my face, I stood up and went to answer the door, wondering who had the guts to show up so early in the morning. I threw the door open and gasped when I saw who it was. Alec Warton was standing at my door looking like a dishevelled mess. He did smell kind of funny too.

“Please come in,” I said with a sweet smile. “It’s good to see you, Alec.”

He raised his hand to slap me but I caught it just in time. It seemed like he had not been eating well because his hands had no energy that day.

“Why did you kiss me? Did you know that Lynn was coming down the stairs?”

I chuckled. “Of course, I did. I knew that she was coming. I love you so much, but I know you were not going to see it until you broke up with her. You should be thankful I did what I did because it has shown you what type of person Lynn Harris is. She didn’t even listen to you, but ran away to the nearest guy for help.
