LOGINLuxian’s POV
It’s been a week since I started working under Mr. Damien, and he hasn’t missed a single chance to make my life miserable. Just yesterday, he sent me downtown three times in a row to get coffee—just because he didn’t like the barista’s face that day. But when his eyes turn red… he becomes a completely different person. Last night, he nearly drowned me in his pool. Just as I was slipping under, his eyes shifted back to black—and he saved me. The only words he muttered were: “You made me this way.” I sat quietly in a café waiting for my order when Mr. Damien walked in. “I’ve been calling you. Why didn’t you pick up?” he asked coldly. “I didn’t see your call… I’m sorry, sir.” “Just shut up and follow me.” He turned and walked away. “But… I came to get your coffee—” “If coffee’s more important to you, stay and lose your job,” he snapped, not even looking back. I sighed and hurried after him. ⸻ We arrived at an abandoned building, and he led me into a dark, grimy room. A man was tied up inside, bloodied and barely conscious. My stomach twisted. I looked up at Mr. Damien, horrified. “Pick up the gun and kill him, Lu—Luxian,” he said calmly, almost bored. “What…? I-I can’t do that!” I stepped back, but he grabbed my arm, stopping me. “Leave me alone! I can’t kill someone who’s done nothing to me!” “If you want me to leave you and your father alone—kill him.” His lips twisted into a cruel smile. “After all… you’ve killed me before.” His eyes blazed red. His teeth… sharpened, almost beast-like. “And I know your little secret. Your toxic lifestyle, your ticking clock,” he hissed. “Kill him—or I make your life even worse.” “F**k you! I’m not toxic, you crazy bastard!” I yanked my arm free. “I’m not whoever you think I am—I’m not this ‘Lu’! I’m a guy!” “Don’t lie to me, Luxian!” he growled, running a hand through his hair. “You remember. I can see it in your eyes.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about! I quit! Do whatever you want—tell my dad, I don’t care anymore!” I stormed out of the room. ⸻ Outside, I cursed under my breath. I had no signal out here, no car, and no clue where I was. My only option was to walk toward the town I saw on the way here. A gunshot rang out behind me. I flinched. He actually did it. “I wonder what that poor guy did,” I whispered bitterly and kept walking. ⸻ Damien’s POV I chuckled darkly. “He actually walked out on me…” Maybe I’d pushed too far—but part of me didn’t care. Since the day I almost died, something’s been… wrong. Voices in my head. Rage I can’t explain. I’ve learned to live with it. Even embrace it. I left the building, expecting to see Luxian gone—but I found him sitting by the roadside like a lost puppy. I laughed loudly. “Should I leave you there or—want a ride?” He ignored me. I drove off… but only for a moment. Then I reversed back, just as he stood up, glaring daggers at me. “Where did you think you were going?” I smirked as he got in. “Home.” “You’re so stupid, you know that?” “At least I don’t make people do my dirty work.” “Dumbass. I wish I’d found you dead. You’d save us all the trouble.” I looked over at him. “You know what, Mr. Damien? Whatever Lu did to you—it’s not my business. I quit. I never want to see you again.” “You don’t have that luxury,” I snapped. “Leave, and I’ll ruin you. I’ll ruin your father. I’ll make your life a living hell.” He didn’t reply. He didn’t need to. His face told me everything. ⸻ Luxian’s POV I stared at him, numb. How did it come to this? Just a month ago, I was celebrating graduation. Now I have one year to live… and a maniac boss thinks I’m the ghost of his dead ex. When we arrived at my house, Damien smiled. “Take tomorrow off. We’re going on a business trip after that.” I watched his car disappear before dragging myself inside. Dad was cooking. “I’m almost done,” he called cheerfully. “Go freshen up. Dinner’s ready soon.” I barely made it to my bed before falling asleep, fully clothed. ⸻ Dream I opened my eyes to find a girl standing in front of me. She looked exactly like me—only… female. Same hair. Same eyes. “Nice to finally meet you, Luxian,” she said with a soft smile. “You must be Lu,” I muttered. “Where am I?” “Come,” she whispered, grabbing my hand. Suddenly, we were in a room. I saw a younger version of Lu talking to a woman—her mother? “Lucy, give him the poison. We’ll take care of the rest,” her mother said, handing her a small bottle. “I can’t, Mother. Damien’s a good person. I love him. I can’t betray him,” Lu cried. “You’re a fool. He’s a demon. He doesn’t love you—he’s using you.” “He’s not like them. He’s never hurt me.” “Your loyalty belongs to your kind. Not some bloodsucking freak.” “But I—” “Choose: your people, or him.” Her mother stormed off. Lu collapsed onto the bed in tears, shaking. ⸻ I turned to her, the real Lu, as we stood there watching the memory. “So you really did it?” I asked her coldly. “You poisoned him?” “I had no choice…” she whispered. “There’s always a choice. You say you loved him—but you betrayed him. That’s not love. And now, I’m paying for what you did.” I looked away from her, disgusted. “You betrayed him, Lu. And now he’s turning your hell into mine.”Damien’s POV I scanned the woods, waiting for any sign of Leif. Envy and Gluttony stood at the edge of the forest, arms crossed. Cris and Ashiel were beside me, both still on guard—they didn’t trust them. But for some reason, I did. I didn’t even know why. “You shouldn’t have summoned them, Damien,” Ashiel said quietly. “Relax, guys,” I replied calmly. “They helped me regain some of my strength.” Cris glanced at me, then turned his gaze back toward them. “Leif wanted us to meet him here, right?” he asked. “Yes,” Ashiel groaned. “I don’t know why he isn’t here yet.” I turned to Gluttony. “How are the boys?” “Sloth is with them now,” he answered. “Good. We need to hurry and get back to them.” “Someone else is here…” Envy murmured, suddenly alert. A familiar voice echoed through the trees. “You brought some friends along, I see.” Leif appeared from the shadows. “Why did you call us here?” I demanded, cutting straight to the point. “So angry…” He smiled slyly. “How did you
Luxian POVWe were led into the pack house and directed straight to the Alpha’s office. Luna Stella sat at his side, her eyes narrowing the moment they landed on me. It wasn’t just dislike — it was venom.“I don’t think she likes you,” Lucy’s voice murmured inside me.You think I don’t know that? I bit back inwardly. The Alpha looked up with a warm smile. “It’s good to see you again.”“The feeling is mutual, Alpha,” I said, bowing slightly.“Where are my boys?” he asked calmly. My gaze flicked toward the doorway where Sloth leaned lazily against the frame, eyes shut as though none of this mattered. Sensing me watching, he cracked one eye open. “They’re busy right now, but they’ll join us soon.”“And who are they?” the Alpha asked, nodding toward Sloth and Derick.“He’s my brother,” Ken said quickly, gesturing to Derick. The Alpha nodded, then shifted his attention to Sloth. “You’re not human, and you’re not a werewolf… what are you?”“A demon,” Sloth answered, smiling lazily.“You bro
Ashiel’s POVI leaned against the office door, listening to Damien pacing restlessly while Cris’s fingers tapped furiously against the keyboard as he searched for Ken location through the tracker he put on him.My chest was tight with worry—not just for them, but for Derick. I’d been giving him space lately, not because of all the chaos surrounding us, but because of… my feelings.Feelings I didn’t want to admit. Feelings I shouldn’t have. How could I possibly have feelings for him when I’d just been rejected? I couldn’t risk another rejection. Not again. And now he was gone. To where, I didn’t know. The thought twisted my stomach. What if something happened to him? I couldn’t bear to lose someone else. Not again.“You seem… lost,” Envy’s mocking voice cut through my thoughts. “I get Damien and Cris—they’re acting like this because their mates are missing. But you? Or maybe you’re just worried about them.” He tilted his head, eyes gleaming. “No, that’s not it. You were rejected. I can
Damien POVThe forest was silent, holding its breath with me. I glanced toward the shadows where I’d told Cris and Ashiel to stay—too far to see, too close to matter—because I didn’t know what this would become. My claws dragged across my palm again, splitting skin. Blood fell to the earth, soaking into roots like ink.Valekar’s voice slithered through my skull. “Speak the tongue of fire and shadow. Call them by name, and they will come.”I lifted my hand, crimson dripping, and let the demon words tear from my throat.“Karveth shuun tal’Vareth…Sorrak ven’thur malaekh…Riv’thar nox Drelkaar!”The forest answered with a shudder. The blood hissed where it hit the soil; black smoke curled up, twisting into shapes.“By blood I bind… by wrath I summon… Rise, Seven! Rise and answer your heir!”The last word ripped free, Valekar stepped forward, and the earth split. The ground heaved, vomiting smoke and shadow. The air thickened with the stench of iron, rot, and want, clawing at my lungs lik
Luxian POV — My eyes felt heavy even though I’d just woken. I pushed myself up anyway and went to the bathroom. In the mirror Lucy stared back at me.“I told you not to show up whenever you want,” I muttered, turning the toothbrush between my fingers.“Well… I have no choice.” She studied my face and I rolled my eyes. “What’s the last thing you remember?”“What kind of question is that?” I snapped.“You’re losing your memory, Lu.”“What do you mean?” The words came out thin.“You were poisoned by Stella.” Lucy’s breath was calm. The name landed like ice.“That’s a lie.” I grabbed my hair and stared at the sink.“Stella poisoned you, but it went too far.” Her voice softened, or maybe I just wanted it to.“What… what should I do?” My tongue felt heavy around the words.“Do you know why your wolf hasn’t spoken to you?” Her eyes were two bright slashes.“What does that have to do with—” I cut off, frustration rising. “I don’t even understand half the things you say.”“The moon goddess
Damien POV — I stood at the forest’s edge and breathed in. The air tasted like iron and old promises; I wasn’t afraid for myself. I was afraid for the people I love. If this decision failed, it would fail them.My condition was getting worse. There was no other way. When I stepped beneath the trees a cold slid along my skin, like the forest itself had read my intent and narrowed around me. It pressed in—thick with the scent of blood and betrayal. I flexed my hand until my claws bit the flesh of my palm; blood welled and dripped onto the loam with a faint sizzle. The ground answered, trembling.I raised my hands to begin the chant, felt the words gather behind my teeth—and then two heartbeats cut through the hush, familiar and terrible.“Get out of here. Both of you.” My voice was low. My feet barely made a sound on the moss.“What the hell, Damien?” Ashiel’s tone was sharp enough to split bark.“It’s none of your business. I told you to stay away.” I kept my eyes on my palm, where th
