After Dimitri left, Adelina took my hand and escorted me to a private room where we could chat without any distractions. I could not believe this was happening. She is my mother?!
What are the odds of that??
All this time I thought that my parents were probably dead and that is why I was given up; all this time she has been here living a good life while I struggled at home with my foster parents who cared for me enough to never give up on me. I did not want to allow myself to listen to what she had to say, but I also wanted to learn more about myself and my past and maybe why she gave me up.
“I have been looking for you for so many years and you are finally here. I am sorry, I am just so stunned I do not know what to say. Look at you. You are so beautiful! Can I hug you?”

“No, you cannot. Why did you give me up?” I asked, leaving no room for bullsh*t.
