Evelyn's heart felt like it was being squeezed, the pain making it hard for her to breathe. She stood frozen in place, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Jazzie noticed her abnormal behavior and slapped her hand, calling, "Evie, Evie."

It took several calls before Evelyn reacted. Her face was as pale as paper. She slowly turned her head, casting a hateful gaze toward the woman.

Her lips twitched a few times before she snapped hoarsely, "You don't deserve to be my mother!"

With that, she pulled Jazzie into the car. She sat in the driver's seat, her legs still shaking. Jazzie pulled her down and said gently, "Get down, I'll drive."

Evelyn didn't insist and went to the passenger seat instead. She leaned her head against the seat's back, wanting to close her eyes, but tears fell from them unknowingly.
