로그인Lorei's engagement just ended, and her best friend drags her to a club to drown the night in vodka. Three drinks in, she mistakes the most striking man in the room for a host paid to entertain her. She kisses him first, and that leads to a night of wild passionate lovemaking. By sunrise she's gone, forgetting what she did. But on her way home that same day, she gets a call that her father is dead, and nothing about the accident report adds up. Then her grieving mother remarries into the Walker family, and Lorei meets her new stepbrother face to face, and it's Elias Walker, the man from the other night. Elias runs half the city's boardrooms and the other half of its underworld. And it turns out, he remembers everything from that night and even kept the photos. He makes Lorei a deal, become his private plaything while playing the doting stepsister in public, or watch those photos burn her mother's marriage down.

The private room at Cattaneo's is full when Fisher stands up and taps his glass. My mind is squealing. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god…. I think he's about to propose.
I've been thinking it all week, the reservation, the way he told me to wear the blue dress, the way his mom kept smiling at me like she knew something I didn't. My hands are actually shaking under the table right now because I think…. this is it. The love of my life is proposing.
"Everyone," Fisher says, and the whole table goes quiet, twenty of the city's most important people all looking at him. "I know a lot of you have been waiting for this."
He reaches into his jacket. Ooohhh…. my heart is going so fast I can barely breathe.
He doesn't pull out a ring. He pulls a woman up from the seat beside his mother, Camille Voss, whose family owns half the shipping routes on the east coast, and laces his fingers through hers.
The fuck?
"Camille and I got engaged last month," he says, grinning like he's announcing a promotion. "Figured this was the right room to finally say it."
For a second nobody looks at me. Then everybody looks at me and my whole body goes cold. I can't even speak. I just sit there while the table erupts into applause, while his mother hugs Camille, and clinked their glasses, toasting.
"Fisher," I say, and my voice cracks right down the middle. "What…. what is this? We're together. We've been together for two years."
He burst into a very annoying laughter, like I'm some fucking comedian. "Lorei, come on. You didn't really think this was going anywhere, did you?" He looks around at his friends like he wants them in on the joke. "I mean, look at you. You have no family name, no money… and you're working double shifts at that little accounting firm. You were fun for a while. But this…" he gestures at Camille, at the room, at all of it. "This is my actual life. A five star life, or nothing"
I feel my face burn hot, humiliation crawling up my neck in front of everyone. Someone joins him laughing, one of Fisher's cousins, not even trying to hide it. Fucking asshole.
"Two years, Fisher," I say again, because it's the only thing my brain can hold onto right now. "You even told me you loved me two days ago. Was it all a lie?"
"I did love you." He shrugs. "But people change their minds, sweetheart. Don't make this ugly."
"Are you kidding me? You're the one making it ugly," I say, and I hate how my voice shakes.
"Actually," his mother cuts in coldly, "I think it's time you left, Lorei. This is a family celebration now." She glances at my mom, who works as her personal assistant, sitting two seats down looking like she wants to disappear into the floor. "And Diane, dear, we'll discuss your hours next week. Things might need to change around the house now that... circumstances have changed."
My stomach drops. She's not just humiliating me, she's threatening my mom's job, right here, in front of everyone, like it's a punishment for me existing.
I stand up so fast my chair scrapes loud across the floor. Every single person in that room is looking at me like I'm something they scraped off a shoe, all staring daggers into me. Fuck. I grab my bag and I walk out with my head up, but the second the door shuts behind me, I lose it completely, sobbing in the hallway where the valet can see me.
I call my best friend, Priya from the sidewalk, still crying so hard I can barely get the words out. She picks me up twenty minutes later and doesn't even ask questions, just hands me a tissue and drives.
"We are not going home," she says. "You are not sitting in your apartment tonight replaying that."
"Priya, I really don't want to…."
"Oh baby, you don't get a vote." She turns onto Fifth. "We're going to Prive. You're going to drink a shit ton of alcohol, and you're going to forget that asshole's entire face by midnight."
Prive is loud and dark and full of people all dolled up, wearing clothes that barely cover chests and bums. Priya orders us both something bright pink and pushes it into my hand the second we sit down.
“I don't know what it's called,” she yells over the loud music. “But the bar man recommended it. Said it's a heartbreak tonic.”
“Priya, no…” I try to push it back to her, my hands still shaking. “I don't think…”
“Take it, Lorei,” she says, her voice stern. “I'm not joking.”
“Alright, alright. I say and drink it fast. Before I drop the glass, she already ordered another one.
“Go girl,” she says. “Fuck Fisher, fuck his mum, and fuck his stupid new girlfriend.”
I take it from her, repeating her words in my head. “Fuck Fisher… fuck Fisher…” Before I know it, I'm already yelling it aloud. “YEAH, FUCK FISHER!!!”
“Yes baby,” Priya yells after me, excited that she's gotten me up. “Fuck him!!”
By the sixth glass, I'm already floating. The awful tight feeling in my chest has finally loosened, replaced by something warm that makes the whole night feel far away, like it happened to someone else.
"I'm gonna go find the bathroom," Priya shouts over the music, and disappears into the crowd.
I try trailing where she disappeared to, and suddenly, my eyes land on a man leaning against the bar like he owns the entire building even though his outfit is telling me that he works here. Nobody just stands there looking that good for free.
He's wearing a black button-down with the sleeves rolled up, dark hair pushed back, and a jaw that looks like it was carved for the express purpose of making women stupid. Fucking hell, he's easily the best-looking club man I've ever seen in real life.
“Damn…” I mutter to myself. “Some fine hosts they've got here.”
I walk straight up to him. "You're really good at your job," I tell him, running a hand down his chest in the most seductive way my drunk brain can come up with.
He raises an eyebrow, clearly amused. "Yeah?"
"Best host I've ever had," I say, and I don't even know what that means, but it sounds right in the moment. "You should get a raise."
"Maybe I will." His voice is low, rough, and it does something to my whole body that Fisher's never once managed in two years.
I drag my hands up his chest, feeling every ridge and dip of his abs through his shirt. My fingers curl into the fabric, pulling him closer. His hand slides into my hair, tilting my head back, and then his mouth is on mine, his tongue sweeps in.
I moan into his mouth, my body pressing against his as he nips at my bottom lip, then soothes it with a swipe of his tongue. His other hand grips my hip, pulling me tighter against him. I can feel him, hard against my stomach, and a shiver runs through me. I grind against him, earning a low groan from him. His hand in my hair tightens, and damn, I love it.
I slide my hands down to his ass, squeezing, and he makes this sound, like a growl mixed with a moan. His hips rock against mine, and I'm pretty sure I might spontaneously combust right here in the club.
"My place?" he pants against my lips, and I nod, unable to form words. But I know one thing for sure, we're not making it to his place without getting a hell of a lot dirtier first.
The car ride is a blur of his hands and his mouth on my neck. His hotel suite is a freaking palace, but I don't give a damn about the fancy shit. All I care about is the way he's looking at me like he's starving and I'm the fucking feast. He crowds me against the door, his hands gripping my thighs and lifting me up. I wrap my legs around him, my skirt riding up, and I can feel his hardness pressing against me. I moan, grinding against him, and he growls, slamming his mouth down on mine.
He kisses me like he's trying to devour me, his tongue thrusting into my mouth, his hands squeezing my ass. I can't get enough, I want more, I need more. He carries me to the bed, tossing me down on it, and then he's on me, his body pinning mine to the mattress.
He sits back on his heels, looking down at me with a smirk. "You're fucking gorgeous," he says, his voice rough. "I can't wait to ruin you."
I shiver at his words, my body already aching for him. He reaches down, grabbing the hem of my shirt, and pulls it off in one smooth motion. My bra goes next, and then he's leaning down, his mouth closing over one nipple, then the other. I arch into him, a moan escaping my lips.
He chuckles, the sound vibrating through me. "You like that, baby?" he asks, his hand sliding down my stomach, dipping underneath the waistband of my skirt. His fingers find my clit, and I gasp, my hips jerking against his hand.
"You're so fucking wet," he says, his voice a growl. "You want my cock, don't you?"
I nod, my breath coming in short gasps. He smirks, standing up and stripping off his shirt. I watch, my mouth dry, as he unbuttons his pants, pushing them down along with his boxers. His cock springs free, hard, and I lick my lips, dying to have in me.
He climbs back onto the bed, his hands pushing my skirt up, my panties down. "You're gonna come on my cock, baby," he says, his voice dark. "You're gonna scream my name, and you're not gonna forget it anytime soon."
He pushes into me, slow and steady, and I gasp at the feel of him. Ooohh he's big, bigger than anyone I've ever been with, and I can feel every inch of him as he slides in and out of me. He starts to move, his hips snapping forward, his hands gripping my hips.
"Touch yourself," he growls, his eyes locked on mine. "Make yourself come on my cock."
I slip my hand between us, my fingers finding my clit, and I rub in time with his thrusts, my breath coming in short gasps. I can feel my orgasm building, the tension in my body ratcheting up. He leans down, his mouth closing over mine, and then I'm coming, my body shaking, my fingers digging into his back.
He swallows my cries, his thrusts getting faster, harder. He pulls out of me, flipping me over onto my hands and knees. He slams into me from behind, his fingers digging into my hips. I can feel him getting closer, his breath coming in short pants.
"Fuck, baby," he groans, his body tensing. "I'm gonna come."
He pulls out, his hand wrapping around his cock. He strokes himself once, twice, and then he comes, his hot cum shooting onto my back. He collapses onto the bed beside me, his breath coming in ragged gasps.
He turns to me, his eyes dark and satisfied. "You're fucking amazing," he says, his voice soft. "I could get used to this."
I smile, my body already aching for more. "Who says we have to stop?" I purr.
(Lorei's POV)"I don't even know how to explain it," I whisper into the phone, curled up on my bed with the door locked. "It's like my whole body forgets what it's supposed to do around him.""Lorei." Priya calls in that low voice she uses when she's trying not to freak out on me. "He is blackmailing you with photos that he took of a night you don't even remember consenting to properly.""I know." I press my palm against my eyes, willing the tears to stay put. "I know how insane this sounds. I hate him. I actually hate him, Priya, for what he's doing to me and my mom. But then he gets close, and my body just…" I don't even have the words for it. "It just stops listening to me.""That's called trauma, or Stockholm syndrome, or some weird psychological thing. I promise you…""I have to go," I say, because I hear footsteps in the hall, and the last thing I need is Richard or my mom overhearing this. "I'll call you later."I splash cold water on my face in the bathroom, hard enough that i
(Lorei's POV)Elias is twenty minutes late to dinner, and nobody acts surprised except me.He slides into his seat like the rest of us have been waiting on him for the privilege, not the other way around, unbuttoning his cuffs without a word of apology. Richard doesn't even comment. My mom shoots me a look that says this is normal, just go with it.Okay. So this is just... how he is.Dinner's this excruciating performance of politeness. Richard asking my mom about her day, my mom asking Elias about work, Elias answering in single words while looking at his phone under the table like none of us are worth his full attention. I catch him glancing at me twice. Both times he looks away like he was never looking at all. What’s up with this weirdo?"Elias," Richard says, over dessert, "why don't you show Lorei around properly after dinner? Give her the real tour, not the ten-second version from this morning."Elias's jaw tightens, just barely. "I have work.""It can wait an hour." Richard's
(Lorei's POV)The Walker estate has its own gate. An actual gate, with an actual guard, who checks a tablet before letting our car through like we're entering a country and not a house. This is insane. People actually live like this? It’s been six months since the funeral. Six months of my mom crying into takeout containers on our tiny kitchen table, and then, out of nowhere, Richard Walker. She met him at a fundraiser her old boss dragged her to, three months after Dad died, back when she still wasn't sleeping and barely eating and I was genuinely worried she might just stop functioning altogether. Richard was there representing some charity board. She told me later he was the first person all night who didn't ask her a single question about grief. He just asked what she thought of the terrible band they'd hired, and made her laugh for the first time in weeks. They started with coffee. Then dinner. Then he was picking her up in a car with a driver, and she was coming home glowing in
(Lorei's POV)Sunlight is stabbing straight into my eyeballs and my head feels like it's been hit with a bat.Oh my god. Ow. Ow, ow, ow.I squint one eye open. White sheets. A ceiling that is definitely not my ceiling. A room the size of my entire apartment, with floor-to-ceiling windows and furniture that looks like it costs more than my yearly rent.Wait. What?!!I sit straight up, and the room tilts sideways for a second before it settles. I'm not wearing my dress. I'm not wearing anything. The sheet's the only thing between me and whoever's….I look to my left, it's empty. The other side of the bed is cold, like whoever was there left a while ago.Okay. Okay okay okay. Think, Lorei. Think.I try to remember, but nothing solid comes up, just flashes. Pink drinks, loud music, Priya's laugh…. and then nothing. My head’s totally blank. It's as if someone reached in and scooped a whole chunk of my brain out with a spoon.Did I… oh my god, did I sleep with someone? Who? WHO?!!I look ar
