That day, I heard frequent bouts of screams, followed by desperate pleas.

As I savored some chicken soup, my heart felt at ease.

After that day, Matthew was no longer around. According to Dylan, he was sent to an island with restricted access for training—the same place he'd once spent three years of his life.

There, Matthew would begin a new life. As for myself, I would gain an assistant who would support me with all his heart.

Even though I felt a little bad for him, I understood that this was a tradition our family had followed for years.

Dad had gone there too. It was just that he couldn't bring himself to send Matthew there before, out of concern for Matthew's health.

After I recovered, I cleaned and sanitized the entire house near my office.

It wasn't until later, when I checked the surveillance footage, that I learned Ruby had started bringing Sam over to the house without my knowledge much earlier on. They'd even entered my room.

Whenever I spent the night out, I
