She wasn’t used to this. I was.

The invasion of her privacy could destroy her. The media was going to have a field day.

“Jane’s on her way,” Bray said. “With the security team and the police.”

“Great. It’s a fucking circus!” I snapped, running my hand through my hair. “Where’s Mom?”

“Shopping,” Dad replied. “She’s going to have a heart attack when she gets back.”

“Where is she?” Aiden stood. “I’ll bring her back.”

“No need,” I said wryly. “She’s showing them where Leah gets her attitude from.”

Southern women: sweet as pie and strong as hell.

“Assholes, takin’ up my damn driveway!” Mom fumed as she came through the door. “What’s a woman gotta do to feed her family nowadays?” She found Aiden. “Aiden! What did you do?”

“For once, nothin’.” He practically growled at her. “They found out about Milka.”

Mom looked stunned. “Oh, Lordy.”

I ran my hand through my hair again. “Did you bring the groceries in?”

“No. I wanted to know why I have vultures in my drive.”

“Good.” I opened the front door
