Cara packed her luggage while Kenzie booked an Uber. When the Uber arrived, the driver assisted her in arranging the luggage into the booth of the Uber. Cara looked at her bestfriend with tears in her eyes.
"I will miss you Kenzie," Cara wiped the tears spilling out of her eyes as Kenzie hugged her. "Don't cry it's not good for the baby, you should always be happy," Kenzie said wiping her tears, "now you've made me cry."Cara got into the Uber and waved at her. "Remember to keep in touch with me," McKenzie shouted as the Uber was driving away. Cara poked her head out of the car window, "I will, I will call you when I've landed.""Okay," Kenzie waved her a goodbye and stared at the receding figure of the car. Cara rolled up the windows and watched the building race past with heaviness in her heart."Forgive me for intruding in your business but why are you leaving?" the middle aged driver asked her. "To find a new life," Cara said hopefully. He nodded and continued driving till then they arrived at the airport. She was surprised that the driver didn’t asked questions about her divorce or doesn’t he know?."I hope you get what you want," The driver said, lifting her luggage out of the car booth and she smiled at him praying in her heart. "Thank you, here is the fare," she took out the fare but the man refused to take it, he simply gave her a heart warming smile. "Don't worry, take care of yourself and your child," he said and got back and into the car, before Cara could ask him what he meant, he drove off leaving her stunned. The voice in the intercom jolted her out of her reverie and she grabbed her luggages and headed to the boarding area.•••••Damien drove towards the airport in haste. Rafael had just informed him of Cara's departure, he panicked and jumped in his car without thinking. "Where is she travelling to?" He asked Rafael through the Bluetooth earphones."I don't know, I told you you'd regret it," Rafael said and he hung up, Damien hit the steering wheel in panic and increased speed running red lights. As soon as he go to the airport, the flight had already taken off, he could only sit in his car and watch as the aeroplane slowly ascended into the sky. "What have I done?" Damien lamented. Some days ago, after being probed by Rafael, he decided to check out the pictures again, this time he trusted Rafael to deal with it. Twelve later, Rafael sent the pictures to him with proof, the pictures were actually fake and they were photoshopped, it was traced to Eric."That god-damned son of a bitch," Damien cursed and gulped down drink after drink till he he became drunk, he cried on the shoulder of his friend. "I have lost her Rafael," He lamented, "she'll never forgive me.""I warned you about your impulsive behavior, you lost her because of your lack of trust now she's gone you realize how much you loved her," Rafael chided him."How do I get her back?""I don't know, it's up to you to make it right," he comforted him. Damien stretched his hand to take another glass of whiskey and Rafael smacked his hand. "I think that's enough for tonight, time to take you home," Rafael helped him up taking out of the bar. That morning, Damien woke up to the loud ringing of his phone and was hit with a massive hangover, he grunted holding his head as he answered the call."Get you ass outta bed and go to the airport before you lose her," Rafael shouted over the phone and he jumped out of the bed, without freshing up, Damien jumped into his car and drove as fast as could to the airport but didn't make it in time."Did you catch the flight? did you get to her in time?," Rafael asked but he was too stunned to answer, Damien simply got into his car and drove off."No, I was too late." silence ensued at the other side of the line."Find out where she's going, I am going to McKenzie's house," he said and hung up.Ding Dong! The doorbell rang, "I'm coming!!!!," Kenzie yelled and went to open the door. "Oh you have the nerve to come to my house after humiliating my bestfriend," Kenzie sneered."Where is she travelling to?""What makes you think I'll tell you, I can't ruin her chance of new life and finding true love," Kenzie said.Damien paled and held the door for support as his knees weakend, his breath heaved deeply his eyes dilated. "What do you mean?"She scoffed, "Don't tell me you're that dumb, did you expect she'd come back begging? gosh, not everything and everyone revolve around you."Damien turned around and stumbled back to his car absentmindedly, "Call me anytime she gets in touch with you," he said even though he knew Kenzie would never call him but at least there should be something to hope for."Tsk, as if," Kenzie yelled as the car zoomed off. Damien drove home absentmindedly, it was a miracle he didn't have any accident.Cara landed safely in Greensboro city, she smiled with satisfaction as she stepped out of the plane, breathing the clean, new air as she stepped out of the plane.Greensboro city was a small city in Country V, it is almost as unrecognizable as it is in the map. No one will look for her here, no one will criticize her again. She'll just leave a peaceful life with Kenzie's parents.Cara heard her name and scanned the airport, her eyes falling on two middle aged couple, she waved and walked up to them dragging her luggages along."How was the journey?" Sally, Kenzie's mother pulled her into a tight hug."Safe.""It's so good to have you with us, you know when Harley told us you were coming, we were overjoyed," Harry, Kenzie's father said. Cara silently laughed knowing how much Kenzie hated her middle name. If she was here, her face would have morphed into a frown.Harry arranged the luggage in the guest room where she would be staying while she and Sally sat in the car, after arranging the luggage, Harry climbed in and drove off. Cara stared at the building vanishing behind them as they past. She recalled the first day she met him.*flashback*"Cara meet Damien Zoric, Mr Zoric meet my daughter Cara," Will, Cara's father introduced the both of them. "It's a pleasure meeting you," she stretched out her hand to shake him but he held her wrist and pulled her to the dance floor, they slowly waltz together with other couples."Well, is this a new way of asking for a dance?" Cara blushed."It's my way of asking for a dance," he twirled her and she giggled but his face remained emotionless. After the dance, he introduced her to his friends, Rafael and Eric, she had also introduced her friend McKenzie to them. It was after the party that her father broke the news of her arranged marriage with Damien. They had a big and serious quarrel."Dad, you can't just set me up with a guy I just met, that's unreasonable!" Cara yelled at her dad. "What do you mean by a guy, he's not just a guy, he's the heir to the entire ZORIC EMPIRE!!" Will yelled back. "You want me to marry him because of his money?" She questioned and her mother nodded."Yes! now you're getting it. In that way, you can help the family business rise to the top," Her dad said coldly, Cara shook her head in pity. "If that's the case, I will not marry him, let Vivian marry him instead, after all, she always fantasized about marrying him.""No! not happening, you must marry him, Vivianhas a whole life ahead of her," Cara's mother opposed immediately, she scoffed and marched to her room in anger.*Flashback ends*"Cara! Cara!" Sally called and she blinked, Sally gave her an understanding smile."Sorry Sally, I must have dozed off," Cara said rubbing her eyes."All is well that ends well," Sally whispered silently out of Cara's hearing and together they took her luggages and walked into the homely bungalow."This is going to be my home the next couple of years," Cara smiled and followed behind them closely.Cara's POVSally showed me to my room, she said that it was McKenzie's room before she left for Babcock city. I freshened up and dressed in my favorite dress, a maroon off shoulder dress, I could smell the chicken curry she was cooking, I could tell it was definitely going to be good. I was about to go help set the table when I suddenly remembered that I had to call McKenzie.I picked up my phone and dialled her number, it rang twice before she picked."Hey coconut head, I told you to call but you didn't, so I thought your plane crashed or something. I was already about to call Mom," McKenzie sounded disappointed and I smiled, at least someone still cared about me."I forgot...""How can you forget? it is like the most simplest thing to do," Kenzie said frustrated."Okay, I am sorry for not calling you," I apologized, I could feel her temper calming. "You making me feel bad for screaming at a pregnant woman," she sighed and burst out laughing."How's him?" "Him?""Damien, you know,"
Damien POV"What deal?" I asked when her heard her talking on the phone about some deal. she stiffened immediately and her face turned pale which left me confused."I..it's just a business deal, you know....work and stuff," she smiled and I could tell it was forced."I didn't know you've opened a business? tell me about it," I sat down on the sofa and handed her the juice she requested. "You really want to know? well....well...I am a makeup influencer," she said more like blurted out and I smiled. Something doesn't seem right at all."So you're into a deal? Tell me about it maybe I can help you," I told her and her eyes widened."No! No, the deal is extremely confidential," Vivian anxiously said and I shrugged nonchalantly."Okay," I mumbled and we sat in silence."Do you know where Cara is?" Vivian asked, I could sense a little bit of anxiety in her tone."I was just about to ask you," I faced her and she looked away."Oh," she shifted closer to me and suddenly hugged me, pressing h
A month later....Cara walked into the kitchen where Sally was doing the cooking."I can't continue to stay here for free, I want to find a job," she said to Sally making her turn almost instantly."But we can provide for you till you give birth, you don't have to work," Sally said but Cara shook her head, she didn't want to be a liability to them, at least courtesy demands so."No, I want to work and contribute to the upkeep of the house, I don't want to be a liability," she insisted and Sally gave into her demands."Okay, if that is what you want then so be it...there is a restaurant with a vacancy, you can apply for a post there," Sally suggested agreeing with her because she knew there was nothing she could do."Thank you Sally, I am very grateful for your support.""No need to thank me, it's what every good person would do besides you are like a daughter to me," Sally said caressing her cheek before going back to cooking. The next day, Cara went to the restaurant looking for a job
"I got the job!" Cara yelled and hugged a surprised Sally."You got a job? When?" Harry asked obviously unaware of the situation. Sally and Cara looked at each other, Sally nudged her head towards him and Cara understood."Umm, the thing is....I got a job as a cook at a restaurant," Cara replied staring at the floor at the same time watching him through her lashes."Why didn't you inform me?" Hurt evident in his tone, Cara instantly felt guilty."You'd do everything possible to change my mind and I don't want that," she concluded. Harry knew better than to scold her afterall this is what every responsible lady would do instead of sitting around doing nothing."I won't scold you, but if this job is what you want then good luck," he gave up on the issue, "but to think that Sally was with you on this? She didn't inform me," Amusement flashed in his brown."How could I tell you? You'd only refuse besides I don't see why she can't work, maybe she might meet her true love there or something,
Damien called Ron on his way out."Did you find her?" Ron asked on the other side of the phone."The only Cara who lives in this building is dead, it's not my Cara," Damian sighed heavily, his voice cracked as he tried to hide his emotions."Search the country a second time, don't miss out any details," he said."Right on it," Ron said and hung up. A pang of guilt ripped right through his chest, Damian held his chest and sat down on a nearby bench in the park."If only I had trusted you, if only I had not let my anger cloud my judgement. How can I ever make it up to you?" He let out a silent wail as his heart cried. He remembered Rafael's warning and yet he fucking trusted a picture over his wife. The annoying sound coming from his phone drew his attention to it, someone was calling."Yes?" "Oh my God Damien I was very worried about you, where are you? I have been to your house but the maid told me you weren't around," Vivian wailed shrilly. Damien frowned at her questions. "What wer
Damien flew back to Babcock city the next day depressed, the only clue to finding her was gone even Ron had to check the names of people who boarded flight out of the country only few Caras boarded flight and none were her."Welcome back Damien," Vivian squealed as he stepped into the mansion. Damien had just arrived from the airport and he was dead tired, he didn't have the strength to face her. Recently, she has been clinging to him like a leech."What are you doing here Vivian?" He asked tiredly and slumped in the couch. Vivian grinned and sauntered towards him."I have been staying here ever since you left," she sat beside him massaging his chest. Damian glanced at her hand tiredly maybe it was the alcohol he had on the plane coupled with tiredness that was making him unable to move his body."Go away Vivian," he drawled and his eyes shut. Vivian looked surprised for a while before she smirked."Help me carry him to his room," she commanded the maid and she helped her. When they go
Doctor Ivan prescribed some vitamins for her to take."Make sure to take them regularly, keep away from stress and stay healthy," he advised and she nodded."Thank you doc," Shera beamed and left the hospital. On her way back to work, she went to a confectionery and bought some cakes and sweets for her colleagues.*Vivian aggressively threw her limited edition Hermes bag on the chaise lounge as she walked in."Get me a glass of water!" She screamed at the maid who just walked in, the maid scurried away mumbling a curse. Vivian paced to and fro in the living room swearing and cursing."Here ma'am," the maid said in a squeaky voice. Vivian, vexed at the maid slowness, took the glass of water and dumped it on her. The maid squealed when she suddenly felt the chilled water on her body."Were you deliberately taking your time fetching me a glass of water?" She snapped at the maid who stood shivering."You asked me to bring a glass of water for you and I did just that," the maid hurled back
Three years later.....Shera Perry stepped down from the private jet with her three kids trailing behind her. She never thought she would come back to this country, the country that brought her pain, humiliation and dispair."Moooomm, Gabe is pulling at my hair," Paris shrieked and tugged at her mother's hand. "It's a lie, I didn't do anything," Gabe scrunched his nose frowning at her. Shera crouched down to their level and carried Paris in her arms, Paris squealed clapping her hands over her head in joy."Momma up up," Gabe raised his hands to, demanding to be carried, she bent down and picked him up too."What about you Dion?" She said smiling at her eldest son. Dion glanced at his siblings bouncing joyously her arms and shook his head.Dion was the eldest of the triplets by five minutes, followed by Paris who was older to Gabriel by three minutes. Dion and Paris took his blonde hair and green eyes while Gabriel took her dark brown hair and his green eyes.Dion and Gabriel both ha
