They say distance means so little when the person means so much… But when you mean nothing to that person then, the little distance will definitely mean so much… They say distance is a test of how far love can go but what if there is no love in the first place… They say the worst thing about distance is we don’t know whether they miss you or forget you, but what if they don’t even give a sign that they feel your presence even after looking at you every day… Distance doesn’t just refer to the miles between two persons. Because we are not living in different places far away from each other, but still, there is a distance between us. Is it going to be just there forever? Or will there be any way to reduce it... You may have become my husband, but you made yourself as a stranger to me by forming this distance between us, and I am losing the little hope which I formed in the beginning slowly…

“You should have told me, Bhai.” I stated for the millionth time.
“Don’t you have anything to say other than that?” Bhai said glaring at me.
“Chaithanya! Don’t talk to her like that.” We heard the warning from the back seat.
I turned towards my Bhabhi Sangeetha saying, “Thank you Bhabhi.”
“And you Nisha, stop stating something which he already knows.” She said and then continued to hold safely the sleeping form of my one-year-old nephew Jai.
“You don’t know Bhabhi. Mom and all the relatives will say I don’t even have a heart like always.” I said, thinking about the memories where I was told the same words again and again.
“You are not close to her so it was not compulsory for you to be there before because we were told she would be fine.” Bhai said calmly.
“But she is the only cousin Bhai and is elder to us. We were close to her when we were kids.” I said.
“No! We were never close to her, but you tried to be close to so many years until six years back, and I don’t know why.” He said rolling his eyes.
Of course how can I forget that silly day. I didn’t see Indu Di for two months because of my tenth standard preparation. So one day I went to her house immediately after my exams got over.
As no one was downstairs, I started talking to some man who is older than me and sitting in Indu Di’s house.
He was listening to everything calmly. Then later I got to know he is actually her fiancé for the last two years, and the surprising thing is I didn’t even know she is engaged. And also got to know what he thought about me in those few minutes of encounter along with Indu Di’s.
“How much time does it take for you to be ready? I was stuck here hearing about some silly kid chatter.” He said to Indu Di.
Indu Di frowned and then realized saying, “She is like that always. We all are fed up with her behavior and just want her to understand no one wants to speak to her.”
Until that moment, I used to look up at her but after hearing those words from her, I kind of gave up to even make friends with her.
“Nisha! We are here.” Bhai said, bringing me out of my thoughts.
I glanced at the hospital building and said, “I am terrified, Bhai. Even though we are not close I don’t want her to leave us.”
When we got out and started walking inside, he calmly said, “Before she was completely fine and out of danger, but after one-week doctor is saying that we need to pray for god, and that’s all we can do.”
I saw Mom and Aunt sitting beside each other holding hands slowly crying and there are few other relatives along with Uncle.
I kneeled in front of Mom and Aunt holding their hands and they both looked at me. Mom brushing her tears away pulled me up and made me walk to some far place.
“What were you doing the whole week? Don’t you have at least a little respect for your cousin?” Mom asked frowning.
“Mom! I... my exams finished today morning.” I replied, looking down hiding the fact that I didn’t even know.
“Are exams the only thing that is important for you? Don’t you care about the other people around you?” She asked with a disappointed tone.
“Parvathi! Indu is asking for all of us.” We heard my Aunt saying.
“She is talking to Sudhir right?” Mom asked frowning.
“He came outside now. Let’s go!” Aunt said they all started walking inside.
I stood beside Bhabhi not knowing what to do any more looking down. I suddenly heard Mom’s voice saying “You may have forgotten us as your family, but you too need to come inside.”
I flinched and walked inside taking a deep breath. I looked at Indu Di and stopped myself from crying. She is attached to all these wires, and she has the pale face with her skull covering completely with a bandage.
“Mom! I have a wish.” She said wetting her lips.
“What is it Indu? Tell us anything you want.” Aunt said, holding her hand.
“I want Sudhir to get married to someone.” She said looking at all of us.
“Don’t talk like that Indu! Nothing will happen to you.” Mom scolded her.
“That’s what even I wish Aunt, but I know I don’t have the time. So before leaving I want you all to assure me that my wish will be fulfilled.” She said with blankness in her eyes.
“Indu Di! These things should be discussed with Sudhir and not us. It should be his wish, and he will fulfill it, but not us.” Bhai said trying to make her understand.
“Please…” She pleaded and they finally nodded.
“I even have a girl in my mind.” She added, making us all look at her in shock.
“I already told Sudhir.” She said smiling a little.
“Who is she?” Aunt asked frowning.
“Nisha!” When she replied that my eyes went wide, and I just stood there with mouth wide open.
“No!” Bhai said along with me.
“Please, Mom! I, really… want this wish.” Indu Di said gasping for air.
“Di! He will find someone eventually and get married to her. Don’t stress yourself, please.” I pleaded with her.
“Promise me!” that’s all she said even after my pleading.
Mom and Aunt just dragged me near her and said, “Don’t worry, Indu! She will fulfill your wish.”
“Mom! No…” I said shaking my head.
“If you have a little heart, then just don’t disrespect a dying person’s wish Nisha.” Aunt said making me close my eyes.
“Please Nisha…” Di pleaded and I slowly placed my hand on her still closing my eyes.
“Marrying him… you should take care of our daughter… and that’s all…” She said, and I looked at her in shock while her life just left her body slowly.
Everyone heard her words but seeing that she is no more in this world they all burst out crying holding her.
I slowly released my hand and walked back still with shock filling my mind with her word's ringing.
“Bhai! She is dead.” I whispered to him looking at the lifeless body, and he hugged me nodding.
“Shh…” He mumbled and I cried on his shoulder.
*Sudhir Pov* I never thought I would be this scared in my life. I was scared when Ayesha was about to be born, but this time it was more than that. “There is no danger, right?” I asked the doctor as she concentrated on the delivery. “Like I said Mr.Arora. There is a very little complication and no need to worry that much.” She replied, and I tightened my hold on Nisha’s hand. “Everything will be fine Sudhir.” Nisha said with tears falling from her eyes, and her grip on my hand was tight. “You should have told me Nisha.” I said kissing her hand. “I just got to know one month back and there is nothing we can do about it.” She said and screamed with pain. “I love you and please don’t leave me alone.” I pleaded with her. “I love you too, but promise me one thing.” She said taking a long gulp of air. “Don’t say what I am thinking you will say.” I said shaking my head. “Promise me that you will take care of both our kids and take the help of my Mom and Aunt.” She said. “Of course
*Nisha Pov* “Shh... Everything will be fine Nisha.” Bhai said, rubbing my shoulders. “No Bhai! He can’t leave me like that.” I said crying more. “If you be like this, then who will console Ayesha?” He said, and I stopped crying. “She is in the house right?” I asked him, and he nodded. “Ask Bhabhi to let them stay there until we know something.” I said, and he nodded. “I will go and bring some coffee for us. Mom and Aunty will be here along with Uncle in a few minutes.” He said and I nodded, leaning back in the chair but tears haven’t stopped falling. I got up when I heard the operating room door opening. I walked near the doctor and asked, “How is he?” “He is no longer in danger. But...” he trailed off. “But?” I asked him tensed. “The attacks were on the back portion of the head. We need to put him in the observation and hope that he doesn’t go into a coma." He replied. “What?” I asked him in a shocked whisper. “He may not too.” He replied looking at me. “When will he wak
*Nisha Pov* “So how are you feeling right now?” Bhabhi asked as we both are preparing food for all of us. As Aunt requested, we chose to stay here for a few days and then return to Mom’s home. “I am fine, but just feeling little dizziness.” I replied, and he nodded. “I am also feeling sleepy for the number of times in a day and of course my tears want to say ‘Hi’ too for Sudhir the whole day.” I added and we both laughed. “Your brother went through hell at my time or that’s what he says all the time. But inside, they all enjoy these things as they feel connected to the baby growing inside our womb.” Bhabhi said, and I nodded. “Mom told me at my time all these things.” She added, and I looked at her surprised. “Don’t be so surprised. Your Mother is a very good mother-in-law to me.” She said, and I laughed at her. “I am sure she is.” I said sighing. “Hey! She talked so much about you near us. She always was proud of you, but then after your eighteenth birthday, she kind of clos
*Nisha Pov* “Finally!” I said after landing in Pune. “What do you mean finally?” Sudhir asked, holding two bags as, I held one small one and held Ayesha’s hand in the other. “Well, we decided to be here two weeks back, but it took us all these many days to be free to come here. So that is why finally.” I replied. “You know I was busy at the office right.” He said frowning. “Did I say something to you? Don’t worry, we both had our own fun roaming the whole Mumbai in these two weeks.” I said smiling, and Ayesha smiled at me. “And you both forgot about me.” He said complainingly. “You were busy at the office right.” I said and chuckled at his glaring face. “Where are we going?” he asked and I called my Mom to see where she is. “She is at Aunt’s house.” I replied hanging up. “Why don’t we wait by your Mom’s home?” He asked pleadingly. “We don’t have to meet her for the time we stay here if we go there now. Come on she is not that bad.” I replied as he called for a taxi. “That
*Sudhir Pov* “Are you fine?” I asked her when I entered the home and saw her on the couch studying. “I am fine.” She replied, continuing to study. “What did the doctor said?” I said, sitting beside her. “Nothing! Just some casual weakness.” She replied shrugging. “Mom is sad.” Ayesha said, walking towards us and Nisha stiffened. “Why?” I asked both. “She didn’t write the exam well.” Ayesha replied. “Hey! Are you sad because you will not get 90%?” I asked her joking, but she just smiled and continued to stare at her books. “You go and study Ayesha. After one week, you are free.” I said, and she nodded leaving to her room. “So are you really sad?” I asked turning towards her. “No! Just tensed for the next exam.” She replied, and I nodded. I pulled her leg and started rubbing her feet, which got her attention, and she immediately moved her leg away. “What are you doing?” She asked me shocked. “You are tensed and I am trying to make you lose it.” I replied. “It’s ok! You go
*Nisha Pov* “What are you doing?” Sudhir asked, walking inside the kitchen in the evening after returning from office. “I am washing clothes.” I replied and continued to stir the tomato soup. “Very funny.” He said hugging me from behind. “I was not trying to.” I said smiling. But I suddenly yelped when he pinched my neck. I threw a glare at him and then continued to stir frowning. “Did it pained?” he asked. “Yes!” I replied, lying. “Ok!” he mumbled and suddenly started kissing there. “Hey! We are in the kitchen.” I said, trying to release myself, but he has a strong hold on me. “So?” he mumbled and started making a hickey there in short words. “I don’t want to pour sugar instead of salt.” I replied and turned around in his arms turning off the stove. “Looking good.” He said smiling. “Thanks.” I whispered. “I am not talking about you. I am talking about the hickey.” He said rolling his eyes. “Ayesha! What is your Dad’s name?” I shouted from the kitchen, and he frowned at
