Penulis: Trust

Chapter 1

Penulis: Trust
I had barely walked a hundred meters when Alexander called after me.

"Lily, I remember you still have a bottle of healing elixir. Lilith's pregnancy is unstable. She needs it."

That elixir was the one my parents had left me, meant to save my life in case of grave injury.

Instinctively, I stepped back, hiding the vial behind me.

Alexander frowned, pulled out a black card, and tossed it at my feet.

"Ten million limit. It's more than enough to buy your medicine."

Ten million… for the elixir? Or for my life?

I didn't know.

I only knew that the last time I sat down to dinner and dared lift my fork before Lilith, I was locked in the basement for a month—starving, surviving on dirt and rats.

I took out the vial and handed it to Lilith.

"I wish you a smooth delivery. May you and your pup be safe."

Seeing me so obedient, Alexander slipped a moonstone necklace into my palm.

"Lily, as long as you behave, once Lilith gives birth, I'll hold the marking ceremony with you."

Lilith downed the elixir in one gulp.

Moments later, she dropped to her knees, trembling violently—like she'd been poisoned.

Panic flashed in Alexander's eyes. He scooped her into his arms and bolted toward the infirmary.

Before leaving, he shot me a sharp glare. "Lily, if you put poison in that medicine, I'll never forgive you."

Whispers rippled around the room, filled with contempt. They all looked at me as if I were filth.

I smiled faintly. It was time to go. Time to marry the Alpha King my parents had chosen for me.

Last night, while I decorated the venue for our marking ceremony, Alexander had been out accompanying his sidepiece.

I worked until dawn, so exhausted I collapsed on the floor. He didn't spare me a glance—just ordered the butler coldly, "She reeks. What if the smell upsets Lilith? Throw her into the pool. Clean her up before bringing her back."

Snapping back to the present, I turned to leave. But before I reached the gate, someone stepped in front of me.

"I'm sorry, Lily. Alpha Alexander ordered that you can't leave until you apologize. The medicine you gave Lilith made her suffer abdominal pain."

Before I could respond, his men dragged me to the infirmary—right across the shattered glass from the fallen vial. Shards sliced into my skin; blood welled up, leaving a red trail across the floor.

Alexander looked up. His expression was pure disgust, not even veiled.

"Do you admit your fault?"

When I said nothing, he pointed toward the medicine on the table.

"The medicine you gave Lilith caused her pain. You still won't confess?"

"I was wrong," I said softly.

Wrong for loving him too much—enough to give him the power to break me.

Before I met Alexander, I was the cherished princess of the Silvermoon Pack.

To make my parents accept our bond, I helped him rise to Alpha. And once he had that title, he used it again and again to force me into submission.

If I dressed like Lilith, I was wrong.

If I worried for him and tried to mend relations with other packs, I was wrong, because it interfered with his image of authority.

If I grew jealous, if I questioned his private "training sessions" with Lilith, I was wrong again.

My fists clenched. The moonstone necklace shattered in my palm.

Expressionless, I rose to my feet.

"I'm sorry," I said with a bitter smile. "Do you need anything else?"

My wounds were still bleeding, but his gaze only flickered before he turned away in disdain.

"You're filthy. Go clean yourself up."

At that moment, the healer came out of Lilith’s ward.

Alexander shoved me aside and rushed to Lilith's side in concern.

Everyone crowded around her. No one noticed me quietly pulling glass shards from my skin as I slipped toward the gate.

Near the iron gate, I saw a limited-edition Maybach parked outside. It was Edgar's car.

My Alpha King had sent for me.

I started toward it, but before I could reach the gate, Alexander's loyal men dragged me back to the infirmary.

"Lily, please return with us."

Alexander sat smoking a cigar. When he saw me, he didn't bother pretending anymore.

"Where's the healing herb I gave you before?"

The healer tried to ease the tension.

"Lilith only experienced some contractions. It's common in early pregnancy. Regular herbs will suffice.

"Lily, on the other hand, is still suffering from wolfsbane. She needs that herb more urgently.

It's fine, I can go collect another batch—"

"Don't bother," Alexander interrupted, raising a hand. "If there's one available, we'll use it."

Then, to the healer, he added, "You focus on Lilith. I'll find a way to treat Lily."

When he turned back to me, his eyes softened, as if that tenderness could erase everything.

"Lilith's health is fragile. It's her first pregnancy. Things could easily go wrong."

He leaned closer, his tone deceptively gentle as he patted my head.

"Be good, Lily. Hand over the herb."

I shook my head."Alexander, that's your business, not mine. Don't stand here getting in my way. Just leave.""What do you mean, not yours? I—"Before he could finish, his low blood sugar hit. He collapsed. When he opened his eyes again, he was in a hotel room. Running purely on stubbornness, he forced himself upright and set out once more—to find me.Fireworks burst overhead, brilliant and loud. I was in the open field, wrapped in Edgar's arms, our lips entwined."Lily!"Alexander lost control. His body shifted, the wolf emerging as he lunged forward, shoving Edgar aside, desperate to drag me home.Edgar frowned and snapped his fingers.Instantly, Alexander released me and fell to his knees, trembling. It was an Alpha King's command—an order no subordinate could defy.Edgar stepped in front of me, shielding me as he smoothed the disheveled edge of my dress. His tone was lazy, almost indifferent."I'll say this one more time—Lily is my Luna. If she weren't kindhearted, I'd h

This time, Alexander was certain Lily was only angry—furious enough to stage an act with the Alpha King just to get back at him. If he went to bring her home himself, she'd forgive him. She always did.A chime sounded from the cockpit, "Warning! Turbulence ahead. Alternate route advised."But that was the only shortcut. Taking it would get him to Lily faster. He gritted his teeth and pressed forward through the clouds. The plane shuddered violently; the reopened wound on his shoulder soaked through his shirt, blood spreading like a red bloom across his suit.Four hours later, he landed in Asteria.A young girl selling roses passed by the airstrip. He tossed her a hundred-dollar bill and took the entire bouquet without a word. Then he wired several hundred thousand to dismiss the taxi driver and seized the wheel himself, racing toward Edgar's estate in Asteria. He hadn't eaten in a day. His lips were pale, his eyes shadowed and sunken. But he never eased his foot off the accelera

The clock ticked briskly. The banquet was nearing its end, yet Lily still hadn't appeared. The unease twisting in Alexander's chest grew stronger and heavier, until it burned like acid beneath his skin.He muttered an excuse and slipped away, ordering a servant to fetch Lily. But the servants exchanged uneasy looks. None of them knew where she was.For a moment, Alexander froze, then fumbled for his phone and dialed her number. The line rang once before a cold, mechanical voice answered, "We're sorry, the number you have dialed is no longer in service…"He let out a sharp, incredulous laugh, then hurled the phone to the ground. It shattered into pieces. At that very moment, Edgar raised a microphone. The entire hall fell silent. All eyes turned toward the Alpha King, waiting for his next words.Edgar lifted his hand, revealing a silver ring gleaming under the chandeliers. It had a rare moonstone that symbolized bond and sovereignty."I'll have a marking ceremony, here and now,"

Night had fallen.Alexander sat at the edge of the treatment room's bed, his eyes locked on the glow of his phone screen."Alexander… my pup… He's all right, isn't he?"Putting down the phone, Alexander turned toward Lilith. He adjusted her pillow and gently helped her sit up."The healer checked," he murmured softly. "The pup is fine. Don't worry."Lilith let out a breath of relief and reached up to cup his face in her hands."That's good. We're both safe, so don't frown like that, Alexander. Smile for me."Alexander froze for a second before forcing out a strained smile. His eyes were hollow, unfocused. His thoughts drifted back to the fire, to the way Lily had looked at him through the smoke—calm, cold, and utterly distant.Using the excuse of buying some snacks, he stepped out and turned on his phone. The chat window was still blank. Not a single message.A dull heaviness pressed on his chest. He dialed Lily's number. The dial tone rang once, twice—then ended with an autom

When I came back to my senses, Alexander was already standing in front of me."What are you spacing out for?"I lowered my eyes, instinctively murmuring an excuse. "It's nothing. The treatment just ended. I'm a little lightheaded. Sorry for disturbing you both. I'll be leaving now.""Where to?"Before I could step aside, he caught my wrist. Lilith narrowed her eyes, hostility flashing beneath her innocent façade. Tugging lightly at his sleeve, she tilted her head and smiled sweetly."Lily," she said, her voice soft and sugar-coated, "thank you for the herbs. Without them, the pup and I would still be suffering."Then she puckered her lips at Alexander and deliberately tilted her head, revealing the red marks scattered along her neck. When she noticed my gaze, she feigned shock, quickly pulling her collar closed and diving into his arms."Don't get the wrong idea, Lily. They're just mosquito bites."Alexander slipped off his jacket to cover her shoulders, but his eyes darted t

I stepped back, avoiding Alexander's touch, and flipped open my suitcase. One by one, I threw out the bundles of herbs he had once given me.My chest burned. Emotion choked me, and the dormant wolfsbane in my blood flared to life. Pain seared through me as I clutched my heart and fell to my knees.Inside her ward, Lilith stirred. A glass shattered, followed by a soft, pitiful cough.Alexander dropped everything and rushed to her, dragging the healer in after him.The healer glanced at me and whispered to him, "Lily's condition is worsening. The wolfsbane has relapsed. She needs those herbs urgently."He hesitated only a moment before replying, "Lilith is pregnant. Two lives are at stake. She comes first."The healer faltered, caught between duty and guilt.I laughed softly and shook my head, forcing myself upright despite the pain."It's fine. I'll find medicine on my own."Alexander looked at me and let out a short, frustrated laugh. Just as he reached out to take my hand, Li
