chapter 17: Katrina

Beckett was right. The moment I felt the sea air hit my face, I felt a sense of peace that I hadn't felt since learning that I had killed Grace and Jack. Watching Beckett teach his class and how he moved from one form to the next was like watching the waves crash into each other, absolutely mesmerizing.

I was a little worried about coming out with Beckett this morning. I knew he saw all demons as monsters, and I wasn't sure what it would do to our relationship, but it doesn't seem to bother him, and if it does, he hasn't commented on it yet. I know we will have to talk about his views on demons, but right now, I want to enjoy the calming sounds of the waves crashing into each other.

"I told you, you would enjoy it," Beckett remarks as he comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist.

I let my head fall back against his shoulder as I stare at the water on the bottom of the cliff. "I didn't picture you as an I told you so kind of guy."
