The nightclub still pulsed with thunderous music when the front doors burst open and a woman’s hurried steps stole everyone's attention.

Selena stood in the doorway, her face flushed with fury and her eyes scanning the room like a storm about to hit.

Her glittering designer dress shimmered under the club lights, but all its glamour couldn’t mask the raging fire inside her.

She marched through the crowd with arrogance.

“Where’s Julian?” she hissed at the bartender.

The bartender, who had just served Julian, nodded toward the far corner of the room.

“He’s over there, ma’am. But I wouldn’t recommend—”

But Selena was already storming off in that direction.

Her eyes widened in shock when she saw the scene before her.

On one of the lounge sofas, Julian—her husband—was deeply kissing a woman in a tight dress.

His arms wrapped around the woman’s waist, their kiss so intense it was as if the world around them didn’t exist.

“JULIAN!!” Selena screamed.

The kiss broke instantly. The woman turned,

"This is slander. 'Aurum' was purely your creation, and I was there from the very first sketch," William said sharply, throwing the court summons onto the studio table.Evelyn stared at the official letter from the law firm representing Clarissa. Her hands trembled, but her gaze remained focused."Clarissa’s accusing me of stealing the design from Hartford’s system while I was still the creative director…" she said quietly.William gripped the edge of the table."When in fact, she’s the one who stole the blueprint from your laptop. We both know that.""The problem is," Evelyn replied softly, "she has system access. We don’t."---Ever since news of the lawsuit spread, local vendors who had once agreed to support their independent diamond line began to withdraw, one by one. Cancellation letters arrived daily. Even the French investor sent an email to postpone the partnership.Evelyn’s small studio felt quiet again—almost like the early days when they fought to survive in the dark. But

"He really left that house, Miss Evelyn. Not a single soul stood up for him," said Clara, the former housekeeper of the Hartford family, as she handed over a small envelope containing William's forgotten personal belongings.Evelyn clutched the envelope tightly. Her eyes betrayed a deep worry."And where is he staying now?"Clara lowered her gaze."An old house that belonged to his late grandfather, up north. Quiet. No security."Evelyn nodded slowly."Thank you, Clara. I’ll find him."---Evelyn drove herself that day, braving the drizzle and narrow streets she rarely passed through. She could hardly believe that William Hartford—the heir to a diamond empire, last year’s most celebrated CEO—was now hiding in a nameless, aging home. When she arrived, the old iron gate creaked. Wild grass climbed between the cracks of the porch floor. She knocked softly on the wooden door.No response. She knocked again."William? It’s me… Evelyn."A few seconds of silence, then the door creaked open.

"She's here. Eva’s already on the third floor with the media team and legal staff."Sandra walked briskly to catch up with William, who was adjusting his black suit in his private office. His expression didn’t change, but his fingers tightened as he fastened the final button."She wants to trap me in front of everyone," William muttered under his breath, his tone cold. "But she forgets… I’m not the obedient son I used to be."Sandra looked at him, clearly uneasy."If you reject Eva at this press conference, your family shares could be stripped away. Your father’s already prepared the transfer of authority to the old board."William took a deep breath."If keeping the company means betraying the person I love… then let it all burn."---In the grand hall of Hartford Diamonds, dozens of cameras were lined up. Journalists gripped their microphones and notepads. On stage, two empty chairs stood beneath a massive backdrop that read:"Hartford x Liang Merger Press Conference — Strengthening

"I didn’t come to beg for your love, William. I came with an offer you won’t be able to ignore," Eva said sharply, placing a sleek black folder on the glass table.William stood near the tall office window of the Liang family’s law firm, arms crossed. The evening sky outside had begun to darken, and the city lights flickered on like artificial stars."What now?" he muttered flatly.Eva sat with perfect posture."A merger contract between Hartford Diamonds and Liang Gems. If we marry, Asia’s two largest diamond empires will unite. Your stock value will more than double."William turned, his sharp gaze meeting Eva’s cold but composed eyes."You think I’d sell my life for shares and numbers?"Eva offered a thin smile."I think you’ll consider your company’s future… and the thousands of employees depending on it. If this merger fails, your father will use that opening to overthrow you as CEO."---Hours later, William sat alone on the rooftop of the hotel he often visited when under press

"You haven’t told me about your lunch yesterday."Evelyn’s voice was quiet, but piercing, as William stepped into her apartment that evening. He had just taken off his jacket and set his bag on the couch. He turned, slightly startled by the tone—unlike her usual calm."I didn’t think it was important," William replied, trying to sound composed.Evelyn looked at him, eyes steady."The media thinks otherwise. There are photos of you two sitting at that restaurant, with the headline: ‘Hartford’s Fiancée Shines Again.’"William exhaled."I didn’t invite the press. I didn’t even know they would be there.""But you still sat there. With Eva. And the heirloom ring was between you." Evelyn’s voice began to shake. "Do you realize how that looks to everyone else?"William fell silent, tension tightening his features.---The past few days had tested every thread of Evelyn’s patience. After the gala, she’d hoped for peace—just a little space to breathe and love William freely.Instead came news

“You brought me here on purpose, didn’t you?”William’s voice was sharp as he stood at the entrance of the Hartford family’s grand dining room, eyes locked on his father, who was welcoming guests with a formal smile.Alexander turned slowly.“Not a trap. Just an invitation. And you came, didn’t you?”William rolled his eyes but still stepped into the room. And there she was—Eva, seated gracefully at Alexander’s right, dressed in a maroon gown with flawless makeup. Her smile was soft, yet behind it, William sensed a calculated presence. His mother, Lady Mireya, sat at the far end of the table. Her face was stiff, though her eyes closely followed every movement between Eva and her husband in silence.“Have a seat, William,” said Alexander. “We’re here to discuss the future.”“If the future means coercion, I’d rather stand,” William replied, his gaze cutting toward the table.---Dinner proceeded under a thick blanket of tension. Soon, the family staff entered with a tray adorned in midn
