Chapter 3

Author: Loony Bin
"You've lost your mind?! Callum, what the hell are you doing?!" Victoria screamed.

"What am I doing?" Callum roared as he grabbed Julian by the collar and yanked him to his feet. "Why don't you take a guess?!"

Frightened out of his wits, Julian didn't dare fight back.

"B-bro, what are you doing?!"

That fake, innocent act was absolutely sickening.

He was the only son of the Hayes Group's chairman, but every word out of his mouth sounded manipulative and pathetic.

As furious as Callum was, he knew Julian was deliberately trying to push his buttons. If he threw a punch, the bastard would get exactly what he wanted.

But so what?

Screw it.

Callum cursed under his breath, then slammed his fist straight into Julian's face.

He didn't hold back one bit. He knocked Julian to the floor and started wailing on him, punch after punch.

Terror filled Julian's eyes as he desperately covered his face and curled into a ball.

He had actually planned to let Callum hit him once so Victoria would get pissed off and their marriage would fall apart even more. But he never expected Callum to completely lose it once he started swinging.

Nearby, Victoria was screaming like crazy, "Stop hitting him! Callum, stop!"

She frantically shouted at the staff, "Where's your security?! Get them in here now!"

Thankfully, the restaurant's security guards showed up before Julian got beaten into a complete mess and physically pulled Callum off.

Even after being restrained, Callum still spit right in Julian's face.

"Screw you! You think you can touch my woman?!"

That bastard had actually held his wife's hand. On their wedding night. Behind his back.

Callum's rage had already hit its limit long before he got there. To be honest, he had mentally prepared himself for the worst on the way over. If no one had stopped him, he honestly might have killed the guy.

Victoria rushed over and helped Julian to his feet, her eyes full of concern.

"Julian, are you okay? Do you need me to take you to the hospital?"

Then she turned to Callum, fury blazing in her eyes.

"Callum, you're insane! What the hell is wrong with you today?! I just went out to meet my childhood friend on our wedding night! Was all of this really necessary?!"

Callum violently shook off the security guards holding him back.

"Victoria! Are you the crazy one or am I?! I'm your husband! You're my wife! On our wedding night, you're out here with another guy and letting him hold your hand, and now you're asking me if this is necessary?! Fuck! I must have been blind!"

Even the security guards nearby were intimidated by Callum's terrifying presence.

At this point, it wouldn't have surprised anyone if he killed someone in the next second.

After all, anyone could see he was the victim here. His wife was literally cheating. How could he not lose his mind?

But Victoria shouted back just as angrily.

"Today is our wedding day! Can you please stop causing drama?! Your possessiveness is insane! At this rate, I'm seriously going to regret marrying you! Apologize to Julian right now!"

She still didn't understand how Callum had found out they were dining here.

But in her mind, she hadn't done anything wrong. She had simply gone out for dinner.

Callum let out a cold laugh.

"Yeah, looks like we're on the same page then. Let's get a divorce. You can go ahead and spend the rest of your life with your precious childhood sweetheart."

The moment deception creeps into a marriage, cracks start to form. And once those cracks appear, if both people refuse to work on fixing them together, the marriage is already over.

Callum turned and walked away without looking back, completely ignoring Victoria, who was still yelling at him to apologize.

There's no turning back once the arrow leaves the bow.

The second he decided to divorce her, no one was going to change his mind.

Victoria bit her lip hard.

"Who the hell tipped Callum off…"

Not far from the restaurant entrance, a Ferrari was parked by the side of the road.

The moment Callum walked out, the Ferrari slowly pulled up next to him. The window rolled down, revealing an unbelievably gorgeous woman inside.

She wore a fitted dress that hugged her waist perfectly, with a slit running all the way up to her thigh, showing off a long stretch of smooth, fair skin.

Even behind her sunglasses, the seductive curve of her eyes was impossible to hide. Her skin had the cool, glossy sheen of polished alabaster, while her lips looked as tempting as cherries kissed by morning dew.

But the most eye-catching thing was her platinum blonde hair, which made her already pale complexion look even more flawless.

Sitting inside the Ferrari, Haley took off her sunglasses.

"Get in. Don't tell me you're planning to walk home?"

Callum didn't hesitate and immediately got into the car.

Earlier, he had taken a taxi to the restaurant because he was afraid that if he drove himself, his anger would cloud his judgment.

Now, sitting in the passenger seat, he had finally calmed down a bit.

"You got what you wanted," Callum said. "Quite a show, wasn't it?"

A slight smile curved Haley's lips.

"Shouldn't you be thanking me? Otherwise, you'd still be completely in the dark. Technically speaking, I'm your savior. At least I stopped you from unknowingly becoming a cuckold."

Instead of thanking her right away, Callum asked calmly, "So why help me? Aren't you Victoria's best friend?"

Haley scoffed disdainfully.

"Best friend? Please. Just because we act close in public doesn't mean we're actually close behind the scenes."

Callum narrowed his eyes.

"So this is revenge against her?"

Haley smirked.

"You tell me."

Callum didn't bother guessing.

Either way, this hadn't hurt him. On the contrary, it was a good thing. He had managed to cut his losses early and leave Victoria before things got even worse.

Still… seven years of love wasn't something he could just let go of overnight. His heart still hurt.

Just moments ago, a small part of him had hoped Victoria would stop him, apologize, and beg him not to leave.

But she hadn't. She remained as overbearing as ever and had even demanded that he apologize to that manipulative bastard.

As a man, how could Callum not understand Julian's intentions?

The son of a major corporate chairman talking like that? Give me a break.

With a teasing grin, Haley said, "You're no fun. It's almost nine already. Want me to take you home?"

Callum laughed coldly.

"Home? That's not my home anymore. Let those cheating bastards keep it. I'm divorcing her soon enough."

Hearing that, Haley raised an eyebrow.

"Ever thought about marrying again? You're pretty handsome. How about marrying me instead? I'm very loyal, you know. I've never even been with another guy before…"

Her tone carried both temptation and a hint of testing the waters.

Callum was genuinely surprised. A woman as stunning as Haley had never dated anyone?

Back then, Victoria had constantly hinted that Haley's private life was a mess. Turns out they were just fake friends.

Callum was speechless. "Quit joking around. Right now, I just want to find a job and support myself."

Then he asked curiously, "So where are we going?"

The corners of Haley's lips curled up slightly.

"To the most famous nightclub in Noriava City, obviously. After a breakup, the natural thing to do is go drink at a club. Tonight, I'll go wild with you."

Callum didn't really want to go at first. But then he remembered how his wife had stabbed him in the back.

They were getting divorced anyway. There was no reason for him to keep clinging to some so-called marital loyalty anymore.

A bitter smile slowly spread across his face.

"Yeah… I'm free now. After what she did, why should I keep playing the devoted husband?"

Noriava City's University District.Every Friday night, this place was always buzzing. Food trucks lined the streets, cheap eats were around every corner, and burger joints and pizza places were everywhere. Most of them catered to the university crowd. In front of a pretty average-looking food truck, wooden tables and plastic stools were scattered around. The setup wasn't anything fancy—but it was packed.A lot of university students came here on Friday nights to drink beer and grab burgers, hot dogs, and wings.Callum and Sean used to be among them. Sitting in a corner, they looked at the food truck, which had barely changed over the years, and felt a wave of nostalgia hit them.It had already been five years since graduation. Time had changed everything. Of the four guys who used to come here drinking together, only two were left.Callum poured a glass of beer for Sean."Sean, who's covering the tab tonight?"Sean took the drink with a grin."Obviously you—the guy pulling i

Mia continued, "You expect your granddaughter to be with someone like that? Would you even feel comfortable with it?"Connor immediately defended himself."They may have played around a bit in the past, but they all undergo regular medical checkups. More importantly, they're all from prestigious families. If you marry one of them, you won't suffer."Mia shook her head in disgust."No. I have what you could call emotional purity. I'm not saying my partner has to be completely inexperienced, but at the very least, he shouldn't be messing around like that."I'm not so desperate that I need to settle for that. I'd rather just spend money and marry some handsome younger guy."Connor tapped his cane on the floor."Of course you can. As long as you get married, you can do whatever you want."His expectations weren't high at all. He just wanted his granddaughter to be married off.In their generation, people got married before twenty and had children soon after. As for money—did thei

"What?! No way! How could he be the director?"Brian's eyes went wide with utter disbelief. How could someone who hadn't worked in years just walk in and become a director—his boss, no less?!This wasn't fair. Completely unfair.A total insider hire—definitely someone pulled strings. He shot a resentful glance at Sean. Those two had been tight in university—no question about it, Callum had used his connections to get in."What are you staring at? Get out!" Sean barked at him. "And leave the files behind before you go."Callum, I'll have HR assign someone else to coordinate with you later."Callum nodded slightly."No need. I want to see exactly how well this department manager can coordinate with me. If it's not up to par, we might as well replace the department head entirely."Callum wasn't kidding. In the security department, he had that kind of authority. As long as he gave Angus a heads-up in advance, it wouldn't be a problem.Brian's face turned sour.Reluctantly, he m

Callum nodded."Something like that."Brian immediately perked up with curiosity."Weren't you dating that campus belle Victoria back then? Her family's loaded, and you went home to be a stay-at-home husband, right? So why are you suddenly out looking for a job again? Don't tell me… you got divorced and had no choice but to come back to work?"Before Callum could even respond, Brian pressed on in that condescending "I've been around" tone."I'm not trying to lecture you, Callum, but a guy's gotta have his own career. Leaning on a woman—being a kept man—you'll get tossed aside sooner or later."Look at me. I'm now a manager in the core data security department. My base salary alone is fifty grand a month. And see this? The chairman personally assigned me to deliver documents and coordinate with the new director of Nova Technology's core data security department. That's what years of hard work get you."Callum was speechless.Brian didn't even give him a chance to speak."Beside

Callum took a moment to pull himself together and managed a faint smile."Rick, long time no see."The man in front of him was Rick, a former member of Callum's crew and also a younger guy he'd known from university. They had always been close. Back in the day, they worked at the same company and secretly led a team that was developing a game with serious market potential. But then Callum—the heart of the team—gave it all up for Victoria. He walked away from his life's work and disbanded the group. The game was only halfway done.Rick patted him on the shoulder, his voice full of emotion."Callum, I honestly didn't think you'd come back. I've already reached out to everyone—most of the old team is willing to return and work under you again."Callum apologized sincerely."That time… I acted on impulse. I owe you all an apology. I was only thinking about myself back then and didn't consider any of you. I'm really grateful you're still willing to come back."Rick had let go of the

Rosalie looked down on men like Callum the most—men with no status, no background. Every time Callum's name came up, her tone carried undisguised contempt."He's just an orphan. You're not even on the same level. I really don't understand what you ever saw in him, Victoria."Kenneth looked at his daughter with deep frustration, as though she were beyond saving."I warned you from the start, Victoria. Men like him always have ulterior motives. He should've just stayed home and been a good househusband. But now, he's gotten bold enough to throw a tantrum at you!"Victoria didn't dare to argue a single word.William let out a cold snort."Victoria, I'm only letting this slide because he's your husband. If it were anyone else, he'd already be on his knees begging for forgiveness. An orphan like him—no respect at all. Who even knows what kind of people raised someone like that."Victoria lowered her head. "Thank you for not holding it against my husband."At that moment, Julian's mo
