Chapter 103

Patrick Banks

~•~

It had been over a week since that incident happened, but I was still mad at Jordan. He didn’t realize that I had been kidnapped.

If those men weren’t planning on releasing us, nobody would have been looking for us. By nobody, I meant Jordan.

“How many times will I apologize to you? I didn’t suspect anything because you were gone for only a day.” He said as he walked into my office.

My eyes remained glued to my computer screen. “I’m not talking to you right now. As a matter of fact, just pretend like you actually left me to die with the kidnappers.”

Jordan laughed. “Stop being so dramatic, Patrick.”

I rolled my eyes. “I even assured Valerie that you were coming to save us. I trusted you with my life but you didn’t even notice that I was gone.”

He let out a wistful sigh, settling down on the empty chair opposite me. “What can I do to make up for it? What can I do to make you forgive me?” He asked, his tone softened slightly.

I looked up at him, stud

Chapter 110Patrick Banks ~•~“Patrick, did you do it?” Valerie’s voice echoed through the quiet room as she walked through the door. I sat upright on the bed. “What are you talking about?” I asked, my voice slightly groggy. Ever since I came back home, I have been sleeping. She closed the door behind her and stared at me. “You can’t hide anything from me. We are in this together.” She said as she took a few steps closer to me. “Did you do it?” I honestly had no idea what she was talking about. “Do what? What did I do?” My patience was wearing thin and I didn’t like the way she looked at me, like I had killed someone or something. She paused for a while, dragging a hand down her face. Her expression became soft as she sat on the edge of the bed. “Benjamin…he…he got into an accident. And the doctors aren’t sure that he’s going to make it.” Her voice was cracked with emotion. “What?” I gasped in shock, trying to process what I had just heard. “He what? Accident? How?” I asked, m

Chapter 109Valerie Will ~•~“But it feels like we are drifting apart from each other.” Celeste’s voice cracked slightly through the phone. “I honestly thought that things had gotten better between us.” I stared at the half-empty coffee on my desk, tracing my thumb around the rim. I couldn’t get any sleep the previous night because I was restless due to Benjamin’s threat. “We haven’t seen each other in forever.” She continued. “It feels like you’re shutting me out.” I let out a slow breath, rubbing my temple. “I’m sorry,” I murmured. Celeste was the least of my problems at the moment. I knew she was just speaking out of guilt, even if she had no idea that I knew about what she did. I could tell from her voice alone that guilt was eating her up. I knew I said I wasn’t going to confront her, but I couldn’t just act like everything was okay between us. Even though I tried to act normal, I ended up finding myself keeping my distance from her. We barely talked on the phone and I alw

Chapter 108Patrick Banks ~•~The truth was that I didn’t even want Benjamin to get any position in my company. I didn’t want to work with him either. I just wanted him gone. He wasn’t even grateful that Valerie was ready to negotiate with him, he straight up gave me an ultimatum and ended the call. Benjamin was definitely out of his mind. I grabbed my phone from the kitchen counter and stormed out of the kitchen. Valerie called my name but I didn’t stop to answer. “I’ll take care of it. Don’t worry about anything.” I said loud enough for her to hear as I continued walking. When I passed the living room, I saw Liam still sitting on the couch. A part of me wanted to stop and ask for his forgiveness. But I decided to give him a little more space. I had something else to take care of. I had no idea how I was going to handle the Benjamin situation, but I knew that I would do anything to protect myself and my family. Just as I stepped into my room and closed the door, my phone star

Chapter 107Valerie Will~•~I had to promise Liam that I would take him over to Patrick’s mother’s house by myself before he stopped crying. He was so upset that Patrick deceived him and left the house without him. I understood why Patrick didn’t want to take him there, but he should have just been honest with him. After Liam finally stopped crying, we stayed in the living room and cuddled while we watched television. As he held me, I couldn’t help but wonder…If this is how heartbroken Liam was after one lie from his father, what would happen when he found out the whole truth? I closed my eyes briefly, letting out a deep sigh. I just hoped that Patrick’s visit to his mother’s house was fruitful. Patrick needed to find a way to take care of Benjamin. To convince him to leave New York. While I was still spiraling in my thoughts, the front door creaked open. I turned around and saw Patrick walking into the living room. “Hey,” I muttered. “Hey.” From Patrick’s expression, I coul

Chapter 106Patrick Banks ~•~The room fell into a thick choking silence. Then my mother’s eyes darted between me and Benjamin. “What did he just say?” She asked slowly, her voice barely above a whisper. “Nothing,” I replied. “I said he’s a murderer!” Benjamin repeated, his eyes fixed on me. “You think he’s your perfect innocent son, but I know about everything that he has done.” My fists curled into a ball. “You better watch your mouth,” I warned him. “Or what?” Benjamin asked with a scoff. My mother stood up abruptly, her eyes filled with fear. “What is going on? Who did you kill, Patrick?” She demanded, her voice cracking. “I didn’t kill anybody, I’m not a murderer!” I snapped, my voice defensive. “Benjamin has no idea what he is talking about.” She turned to Benjamin. “Who did your brother kill?” Tears had already started falling from her eyes. Why did Benjamin have to say something like that in front of our mother? He let out a humorless laugh. “Ask Valerie. Or ask him y

Chapter 105Patrick Banks ~•~All the ideas Jordan and I came up with were illegal. I couldn’t do something like that. Not to my family. I wasn’t that desperate. Yet. “Daddy!” Liam’s voice interrupted me from my thoughts. “Liam!” The frown on my face automatically disappeared as I saw him smiling at me. “How are you?” I asked as he sat down beside me. “I’m fine. I heard you are going to see my other grandma. Can I go with you?” He asked, his eyes wide with hope. My lips parted and I blinked. “Where did you hear that?” “I overheard you when you were talking to somebody on the phone.” I swallowed hard. I would have loved to take him to meet my mom — ever since he passed out at her house, he hadn’t gone to visit her. But I wanted to go there to talk about something important and it wasn’t a conversation he could listen to. There was a beat of silence. I needed to think of a way to let him down easily. “Liam?” I called out his name and he looked at me. “Can we go some other tim
