Fresh bouquets and wreaths adorned the Hudson residence. An expensive red carpet stretched all the way to the roadside.

I stood outside in silence, looking at the wedding venue before me. Was someone from Wendy Hudson's family getting married? Why keep it from me?

As I walked in, I could hear the guests talking all around me.

"Did you see her? The bride is gorgeous!"

"Yeah. I heard she just came back from abroad—basically rushed home for this. How sweet!"

"She's the eldest daughter of the Hudson family, right?"

Their whispers made me frown. Perhaps it was all a coincidence. However, when I stepped through the main doors, the host's voice stunned me in place.

"Welcome, everyone, to the wedding of Timothy and Wendy…"

The names hit me like a blow. Timothy and Wendy? Weren't they uncle and niece? How had they suddenly become bride and groom? Could it just be two people with the same names?

When the bride and groom walked out from backstage, the last of my illusions shattered.

Timothy Zuckerman and my wife, Wendy, stepped out arm in arm, looking deeply in love. The tenderness on her face turned my hands into fists. Through the roar of applause, her eyes met mine.

She instinctively tightened her grip on Timothy, who was startled by her reaction. I strode forward and landed a hard punch across his face before turning back to her.

"Hey, Wendy. Marrying into the wealthiest family in the country wasn't enough for you that you had to play house with someone else, huh?"

My voice was as cold as ice. Her face turned deathly pale. The guests around us were shocked by my sudden outburst.

"Who the heck is this? He came in and went straight to hitting the groom!"

"A lunatic for sure."

I scanned my surroundings and scoffed. "A lunatic? What's wrong with hitting the guy who stole my wife?"

My words instantly set the crowd buzzing. Everyone turned to look at Timothy with quizzical eyes.

Wendy's face darkened. She stepped in front of him and blocked my way. "I told you, Jake, we will never be! What on earth do you think you're doing, crashing my wedding?"

I hadn't even figured out what she meant when Timothy chimed in loudly. "Jake, I know you can't forget Wendy because she sponsored you, but there was never any chance between you two.

"She's always treated you like a younger brother, a poor student she needed to help. You two belong to completely different worlds."

The moment those words fell, the faces around me changed.

"Oh my gosh. A broke loser crushing on his sponsor?"

"I think so. This is why you shouldn't sponsor just anyone. Not only do you get nothing in return, but you end up with trouble!"

"Is this guy delusional? Can't he see the gap between them?"

An exasperated laugh escaped me as I witnessed just how shameless they were. To save their reputations, they actually twisted the truth.

Fine. Two could play the game.

"For God's sake, he's your uncle, Wendy! Sneaking around behind my back is one thing, but you two have the nerve to make a spectacle out of it?"

A collective gasp rippled through the crowd.

"Wait. I thought they were childhood sweethearts. How did this turn into an uncle-and-niece wedding?"

"Seriously, incest? What's going on in rich people's world?"

"That's nonsense, Jake!" Wendy snapped. She grabbed my arm, her voice dropping to a cold whisper. "Leave right now, and I might let you walk away with some dignity."

I snorted and shook her hand off. "Maybe you should be the one worrying about your dignity."

Wendy looked at me, confusion flashing in her eyes, but anger quickly overtook it. "You know exactly what you did."I was just as baffled. When had I ever wronged her?Seeing the genuine confusion on my face, she unlocked her phone and threw it at me. "These are the videos Tim sent me over the past year. Take a good look."I caught the phone and opened the files. The screen showed me with different women in different places, all of which were intimate and ambiguous scenes. The problem was, I had no idea who any of these women were, nor had I ever even been to those places. The more I watched, the stranger it felt.I paused the video and zoomed in carefully, then hurled the phone back at her."Hey! You're the one who cheated on me! Why are you throwing it in my face?"I didn't answer. My fingers moved quickly across my own phone, typing and pulling up files. The guests around us began whispering again."We're not trying to gossip, but Mr. Jake is kinda… scandalous.""Yeah. I m

Those words shattered the last of Wendy's illusions. Everything that she ever knew about the past crumbled into cruel truths. For a moment, her life became foreign to her."Was Mr. Hudson telling the truth? You really sent my mom onto that ship and killed her?"Luther gritted his teeth. "It was an accident. The men I sent to protect her were exposed—""Stop talking! I don't want to hear a thing!" she screamed. "Why? I just want to know why!"No one knew where he found the strength, but he suddenly broke free from Harold's hold and shoved her aside. "You think I wanted that? You think I didn't love your mother? Back then, our supply chain collapsed. There was a massive cash shortfall."I had no way out. I listened to those people and used false intelligence to lure him onto that ship. If I hadn't, our family would've been finished! They promised me nothing would happen. That was why I even let your mother go on board."Do you honestly think her death hasn't torn me apart? I…""Oh

Luther sighed, his head bowed low. "Jakey… I'll be shameless one last time and call you that. I just have one question—do you still have feelings for Wendy?"I stared at him, confused. I didn't understand why he was asking this now. When I glanced at Wendy and then at my bleeding hand, I knew my feelings more than ever."After everything today, she's shown me exactly what kind of person she really is. I won't have feelings for her anymore."At that, Luther suddenly bowed his head, ready to plead more. Before he could even do so, Harold kicked him to the side. "Have some shame, you old geezer! I'd hate to see Mr. Jake be miserable because of her!""Jakey, listen to me," Luther begged."However you feel toward Wendy now is valid, but remember, she only made a mistake. She doesn't deserve to die! What happens between us fathers should stay between us; don't drag the younger generation into it. I'm begging you to have mercy on her!"Even Wendy, stubborn as a mule, began to sense tha

The roar of the helicopter darkened Luther's visage. He glared at me, teeth clenched. "You thought calling for backups would save you?"I forced the words out through gritted teeth. "Try taking a look at who's here.""Heard you've been looking for me all these years, Luther."An authoritative voice echoed through the room, leaving everyone stunned. They turned and saw Dad."Oh, my God. Isn't that the nation's richest man?""Why… How is he here? Wasn't he dead?""He sure was. I even saw the news about his death recently and left flowers in the comments."Unlike the other guests, everyone in the Miller family went pale. They stared at Dad in shock.Janet's voice trembled as she exclaimed, "N-No way! This is impossible! How could you still be alive? Back then, we clearly—""Clearly bribed me to trap Mr. Miller to his death, right?" said a man beside Dad.Not only was I shocked, but even Luther and Janet looked like they had seen a ghost when we saw the man. Their eyes were wide

"That's enough! Why are we wasting time on a lunatic?" Wendy snapped, pointing at my clothes with an icy glare. "We've sponsored you all these years, hoping you'd excel at your studies, yet you spent it all on designer clothes."You ruined my wedding and tried to smear my reputation. What did I do to deserve this?"Her furious words immediately silenced the guests. Even Janet glared at me, fuming. "Take his clothes off! He doesn't deserve anything from our family!"I looked at the oncoming guards and frowned. "Fine. Whatever the amount you've spent on me, I'll give it all back to you now!"Seeing that I was finally conceding, Wendy wore a satisfied smirk. "Give it back to me? You ungrateful fool, wouldn't all that money be coming from us anyway?"I glared at her smug face and gritted my teeth. "Name a price. I'll pay triple."The room erupted. Laughter bounced against the walls, ringing loudly."Did I hear that right? That fraud wants to pay triple?""Maybe he's planning to sel

At the sound of the announcement, everyone turned to look. Luther and Janet entered slowly. Their eyes swept over the chaos scattered across the floor, and Luther's face darkened instantly. He looked up at the three of us on the stage, his gaze full of anger. I smiled to myself, thinking Wendy had dug her own grave this time. "Mr. Hudson, you came at just the right time. Wendy—"A sharp slap landed across my face. "It's you again, you madman! Didn't I tell you to stay away from my daughter?"The sting of the blow left me frozen in place. When I turned my head, I saw Wendy and Timothy smirking at me with unmasked mockery. They had known all along. Two soft chuckles echoed through what was supposed to be a solemn wedding. Every eye in the room was on me, waiting to see me humiliated.Janet pointed at me and shrilled, "All these years, Wendy has been supporting your studies, but apparently, it isn't enough for you. Marrying her? Dream on!"Seeing my shocked expression, Luther let ou
