Tamara.

Agreeing with this pretentious act was one thing, withstanding Killian’s touch was another.

I don't know why my body tingles whenever he touches me.

I bite down my nerves and smiled as he leads me to the dining table.

My mother's excitement is over the roof and the way she's looking at both of us tells me just how much this means to her.

That alone makes it worth it, even though I'm doing this for all the wrong reasons.

“So, Tamara mentioned you've been in Tokyo for a while,” my mother suddenly asked, wiping her mouth clean.

Tamara.“Happy birthday babe,” Hazel sang as she comes right out of her room, carrying a cake and bearing a mischievous grin.I stopped dead in my tracks, blinking at my bestfriend who was supposed to be in bed and in severe pains.I roll my eyes, beating myself up mentally for falling for her tricks again, it's been like this for the longest. Hazel pulls different stunt to get me to her house every of my birthday, and I keep falling for it, except that I didn't even remember it was my birthday.God, it used to be Killian who always wished me first, but I doubt he even remembered.I feigned a frown and pointed to her couch. “You were supposed to be having a bad cramp, laying down there curled up, not—,” I eye her carefully, before a smile finds it's way to my face. “God, I keep falling for this, every damn time.” I groaned.Hazel chuckles. “Don't blame me, there's literally no other way to get you here this early, so yeah, guilty as charged.”I shrug. “We grown now. I mean, what if I

Killian. When I returned to the table, the tension had subsided. I could feel their eyes on us as we settled back into our seat. The food suddenly doesn't taste the same, as I wished to be anywhere but here.I don't know what mom must've told them but they didn't bring up my situation with Chloe again.I didn't touch my food, I counted every second till it was time for Chloe to escort her parents out.It took everything in me to resist the urge to leave before the meal was over but I had to stay back, I didn't want to be rude.I nod at Anderson and Becca, of which they acknowledged with a tight smile before walking to the door.Mom walks back to the table after giving Becca a hug.I turn to her immediately. “You intentionally invited them, didn't you?” I seethe, dropping my fork in a fit.Mom eyes me carefully. “Are you accusing me of something, Killian?” She breathed out in a soft tone, a calm contrast to my seething one.“I do not see Chloe in that way, she's – she's a friend, a clo

Killian.Just as I stand outside, refreshing Seb's DM, he still hasn't texted me, I took the initiative.“You still there?” I click send and it took a while before his response came in.“Sadly, yes. Nothing unusual though.”But just as I'm about to type back my response, I heard Chloe's voice behind me.“I'm sorry about what my dad said,” I turn around to see Chloe looking a bit troubled.I shrug, pocketing my phone. “It’s not your fault, Chloe. You shouldn't apologize,” I say, my eyes darting on her as I think my next words through.Even though her dad's words didn't come out well, no matter how blunt it was, it was the truth.I was hurting, confused and heartbroken when Tamara betrayed me. It was in a fit of rage that I mentioned I'd do anything to hurt her back, no matter what. Then, Chloe suggested we do this. I didn't think it through before accepting that offer. The need to mess with Tamara, the desperate urge to hurt her back had gripped me, beclouding my sense of judgement.I

Killian.“I can't believe you made me do that,” Sebastian groaned into the phone.“Well, thank you. She wouldn't pick my calls,” I tell him, still dialing her number with my other phone.“Fine, can I go now?” Seb asked, waiting for my response.“No, you can't. She's still there with him, I need you to still keep an eye on her, please.” “Don't make me babysit your wife, Killian.” Seb breathed out frustratingly. “It's weird enough that I said that to her. Moreover, she's at a luncheon, not a freaking party, man.”“Still, if she's not picking my calls, what does that say?”“To leave her alone, I guess.” Sebastian quipped back. There was a long pause from my end, causing Seb to concur.“Alright, you win. But I can't guarantee that I stay here till the end. I can't be caught up in your mess,”“I'll take that, thanks dude,”I kill the call and turn to see Chloe behind me, her arms crossed.I frown a little. “How long have you been standing there?”“Long enough to hear you fuss over unanswe

Killian.I stared at the food in my plate, hesitant to eat. It's not physically appealing but I don't condemn it, it might actually taste better.I look at Chloe who's smiling at me. “Go ahead and have a bite,” her smile spreads, her eyes darting between me and the food. She had dismissed Lucille, my chef, wanting to cook the food herself.I nod, picking up my food and taking a small morsel into my mouth but then I almost spite it out.I pulled the tissue paper and quickly spite the food back out. It must've been the excess salt– or pepper, I can't tell, it just…wasn't edible, at all.“I'm so sorry– I just wanted to make something nice for us,” she breathed out, visibly tensed.I gulp down the content in my glass, poured myself more water and emptied it, after then did I offer a small smile. “It's fine, don't apologize,” I tell her, she must've put a lot of efforts into making this. She still wasn't relaxed, so I quickly added. “It's fine, really.” I smiled some more. “I will just ord
