My cell phone rings about half an hour before I'm due to go home and I see my mother's hospital on the caller ID.

My heart soars and simultaneously drops when I see it, mainly because it was rare for them to contact me directly.

It has always been Hilda, but my name's been registered as her immediate family.

I pick my phone in a rush and answered it with shaky fingers.

“Tamara Ravenford speaking,” I answered.

“Hello, we're calling to remind you of your mother's appointment tomorrow, we couldn't get through to her,” a lady says over the phone and I breathed out in relief.

“Alright, she will be there tomorrow, thank you,” I say in a light tone.

I end the call and tried Hilda's number, and it still wasn't reachable, I leave her a message.

I made a mental note to visit the hospital with mom tomorrow, it's been a while since I did that, it had been because I was avoiding being asked about Killian but now there was really no need to anymore.
