Dillon’s POV

I wanted to snap at Cameron to sit the hell down before he fell flat on his face. The wind was picking up and the waves were getting bigger. He clearly was having a hard time standing, so why was he?

In any case, he seemed pretty serious about whatever it was he had to say. Knowing Cameron, I figured he was going to make some toast about ‘good times’, or ‘friends’ or something like that. Although I had no idea why he felt the need to do it then, right before dinner.

I didn’t snap at him again. I realized that I was anxious myself. The ring was tucked away in my satchel, under my hat near the Captain. I was trying to time it just right. I wanted to propose when the sun was low in the sky, since those were the best colors for the back drop. But to do that, we had to get on with dinner and Cameron was holding it up.

I glanced at Cassandra. Her brows were furrowed and she was looking at Cam with a concerned expression. Her hair was a

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 422: Yes. No.

Dillon’s POV I was gutted. I opened my mouth to speak, but just then, the lights went out. “Come. This way,” I heard Laura whisper in the darkness. I felt her tugging at my pajama shirt. Then I heard a door creak open. I followed her blindly, and when the lights came back on only moments later, we were in a hallway. “I need to go back,” I said. But she shook her head. “No, you need to vent. You need to sort through that text message. And you need to come to terms with the fact that Cassandra did something in Paris that she shouldn’t have done. Do you really want to do all of that in there? With all those people around?” I didn’t. I felt like I was on the verge of tears, as well as on the verge of hitting something. “It’s your best friend’s wedding,” Laura said. “Come for a walk with me. Give yourself a moment to calm down and clear your head. I can’t make you feel better, but I can help you get yo

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 421: The Text

Dillon’s POV I felt like I’d been sucker punched in the stomach. The evidence was clear. Cassandra had met someone in France named Sebastian. He called her ‘his siren’. He was waiting for her. Until hell froze over if he had to, apparently. He had her phone number. And she hadn’t mentioned a single thing about him. Every fibre in my being wanted to confront her then and there. She knocked on the bathroom door. “You ready?” she asked. “They’re waiting for us.” I couldn’t confront her now. Not right before Stella and Cameron’s reception. It wouldn’t be fair to Stella and Cameron, and lord knows they’d gone through enough. The last thing I wanted to do was ruin their wedding. So I decided to do my best to push the thought out of my head. I would confront her tomorrow, when the wedding was over. Turns out, I couldn’t shake it, no matter how hard I tried. I was plagued by the text. It ran t

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 420: Cassandra’s Phone

Dillon’s POV I couldn’t believe it started raining right in the middle of their vows. Like, really? But even more unbelievable was the way in which Stella just laughed, as though it was all just a big joke. We couldn’t help but laugh along. If the bride wasn’t going to lose her shit over the rain, then we sure as hell weren’t going to either. The photo shoot turned out to be a blast. It was actually a lot of fun, taking pictures in the rain, sopping wet. Of course, during the entire ceremony and photo shoot, I couldn’t help but think about Cass and I. We couldn’t really start planning our wedding yet, not with Stella being sick and all. But when I saw Cassandra walking down the aisle, I imagined what she would look like in her own bridal gown. She was breathtakingly beautiful, even when her hair was wetter than a drowned rat’s from the rain. When it was our turn to take our pics, I brushed the wet hair from Cassandra’s face and l

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 419: Caught

Cassandra’s POV “Cass.” I felt Jordyn’s hand on my shoulder. “You knew they were out here,” I said, my voice barely above a whisper. I couldn’t see clearly what they were doing, but it didn’t matter. They were standing too close. They were embracing, for lack of a better word. It was possible that they were kissing, although there was no way to tell. Kissing? No. Strike that. It was NOT possible that they were kissing. Dillon couldn’t be kissing Laura, out here, in a gazebo during Stella’s wedding. That was inconceivable. And yet…. There they were. And seeing them like that cut my heart like a knife. “I didn’t want you to see,” Jordyn said, still standing behind me. Dillon and Laura were still, barely moving under the twinkle lights of the gazebo. “You followed them?” I asked. “They left when the lights went out,” Jrodyn told me. “So yes, I

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 418: In the Gazebo

Cassandra’s POV Every time I saw Dillon, he was with Laura. Dillon and Laura at the chocolate fountain. Dillon and Laura on the dance floor. Dillon and Laura sitting at a table. Jordyn was trying to keep them apart, and I appreciated that. But he shouldn’t have to. It was one thing for Laura to be tracking down Dillon. She’d made her intentions very clear. She was trying to get between us and win him back. So I wasn’t surprised by her bold advances. What did surprise me though was Dillon. He wasn’t exactly fending her off. He was talking to her, laughing with her, drinking with her. Hell, he even danced with her once or twice before Jordyn cut in. I know there was tension between us. But I felt like sometime between the photo shoot and dinner, things sort of shifted. It could have just been stress, but I felt like maybe, just maybe, Dillon was actively avoiding me. Which didn’t make sens

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 417: Power Outage

Jordyn’s POV Sudden darkness. Sudden silence. A bolt of lightning illuminated the room for a split second. Then darkness again. “Okay. Everyone just stay calm.” Cameron’s voice rang out through the crowd. “It’s just a power outage. Stay still and…” But before he could finish the sentence, the lights came back on. “Thank god,” I heard Cameron mutter. The women on the floor looked around, confused, as did Stella. Then they all saw the bouquet on the ground. “Well that’s a do-over,” Stella laughed, marching to pick up her bouquet. “Stupid lights. Let’s try this again.” She brought the bouquet back to the front of the room, ready to toss it again. The lights flickered and everyone held their breath, worried we’d all be plunged into darkness again. But the lights held. I turned my eyes back to where Dillon and Laura had been standing. They
