Cassandra’s POV

“NO FUCKING WAY!” Stella said, suddenly standing up. “There’s no way we did that. She fooled us. Manipulated us. We’ll just fight the contract.”

Stella was really worked up, and I didn’t blame her. I felt the same way, but she’d beat me to it.

“Try to stay calm,” Jordy said. Stella’s face was flushed. “We need a lawyer to look it over. Do you think Dillon would do it?”

“Of course he would,” I scoffed. “But finding a lawyer to look over the contract is the least of my concerns right now. I hate to say I told you so, but I tried to warn you both about Laura. Now look what she's done. She’s trying to take our company!”

“Not exactly,” Jordyn interrupted. “There’s nothing about ownership of Hot House Flower in the contract. Well, that’s not true. If you default on a payment then she takes temporary ownership of the company, but only until the default payment it sorted out.”

“Well isn’t that nice of her,” I sai

Cassandra’s POV “I honestly can’t believe you did this,” Dillon said, shaking his head. We were sitting at the dining room table. I was biting my lip as he read over the copy of the contract Laura had sent over to our office. “You of all people should know NEVER to sign a contract without reading it first. I’ve told you that a hundred times. Why didn’t you bring this to me before you signed it?” The last thing I needed right now was a goddamn lecture, especially a lecture from my contract lawyer boyfriend. Yes, I knew it was stupid. Both Stella and I realized that we’d made a mistake. We never should have signed the contract without fully knowing what we were signing. However, in our defense, Laura had been pretty smooth about the whole thing. She’d produced it during breakfast, right before the reading of the will, when we were all tired and distracted. Then she’d assured us that it was just a standard contract. We had

Cassandra’s POV “The contract?” I asked. What was Jordyn talking about? And why did he looked so worried. Stella and I exchanged an uncomfortable look. “Come. Sit down,” Stella said, motioning to the seat beside her. “What’s going on?” Jordyn strode across the office and sat down next to Stella. “I knew I should have stopped you,” he said, his voice low. “But it all happened so fast.” “You’re going to have to explain what you’re talking about,” I told Jordyn. “We both saw the contract. It was just a repayment schedule. And a generous one at that.” “It’s not,” he shook his head. “I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was off with the contract. It was far too long to just be a simple contract. So, when I was at Laura’s yesterday and she was in the shower, I snuck into her office and took the contract from her briefcase.” “Okay,” I said, still not understanding what the problem was. J

Cassandra’s POV Stella listed off the things we had to discuss. The loan to the bank.Opening a media department.Sourcing a new location. And Jordyn as the potential Director of Communications and Media. Now that we had enough money to pay back the loan, we could move forward with increasing our staff, opening up a dedicated media department (which Jordyn would run), and establishing some boutique stores to bring our brand to other areas of the world. “How does Europe sound?” Stella asked, her lap top open. “I’m thinking maybe Paris and Rome?” “I think they both sound good, but we should start with one at a time,” I replied. Even though we were excited and had more than enough money to fund several store fronts, I still wanted us to exercise caution. If we stretched ourselves too thin too quickly, we risked over-extending ourselves. We needed to make sure the quality of our designs remained high, and doing too much at once might sacrifice the quality of our cl

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 301: The Estate

Cassandra’s POV I was supposed to be finalizing Blaire Montgomery’s final dress design, but I couldn’t focus on my work. I couldn’t focus on anything. Things between Dillon and I were tense, and I didn’t understand why. On the surface, everything was fine. We had a nice dinner together last night, played a round of Scrabble, and then went to bed early. I’d taken a long nap in the afternoon, and when I’d woken up, he’d already cleaned up the house and was smiling in the kitchen. He didn’t bring up the estate again, and neither did I. We just sort of went about our night, both seemingly happy. But underneath the surface, there was this nagging uncomfortable feeling. This sort of invisible wedge between us. We were going through the motions, and both acting like everything was fine, but it just felt… Tense. I’d been surprised when he asked me about the estate and what I planned to do with it. The quest

Jordyn’s POV Laura kept scrunching her hair and chuckled. “Going through my things?” she asked, but her tone was playful. I was pretty upset and in no mood for playful banter. I wanted an explanation. I honestly couldn’t believe what I’d read in the contract. “Why did you do this?” I demanded, still brandishing the contract. Laura sighed. “Jordyn,” she said, coming into the office. “It’s just business. You of all people should know that. I haven’t done anything wrong.” “Do you honestly think Cassandra and Stella would have signed this if they’d taken the time to read it?” I asked her. “I don’t know,” Laura replied. “It sounds like you’re accusing me of something. But I think you’re forgetting that I helped them out of a tight spot. I loaned them a lot of money, Jordyn.” “Don’t act innocent,” I snapped at her. “You knew damn well what you were doing when you drew up this contract. Yes, y
