ROLAND’S POV

Today was definitely a good day.

The demolition had been approved and in just a few hours, the stupid legacy Noah Beck thought he was trying to protect would be gone. If this were some soap opera, I would be sitting on the biggest chair with a cat on my lap as I cackled at the fact that I won, just again I won.

The door slammed, snapping me out of my musing. Anastasia walked into the room with a frown on her face, the same look that she had had since the day before. I couldn’t ignore it, act like I hadn’t seen anything, but I also knew that it would end up biting me in the butt.

I heaved a sigh, bracing myself for whatever drama it is that I am about to walk into. “You have been in a mood,” I remarked.

“Your mother is seriously trying to make my life hell,” she hissed, throwing her phone on the bed.

I didn’t miss the way her eyes followed the phone as if some secret would fall out with just how hard she had flung the phone. She has been doing that a lot lately, picking up

AUTHOR’S POVPetal’s eyes stared at the ceiling, the movement of the fan did nothing to hypnotise her mind from the emptiness in them. The pristine white walls and the generous smell of disinfectants burned through her senses, reminding her of the mystery she still hasn’t figured out yet.She had been stuck in this room for a little over a week and there had been no visitation from the people she called family. “Scavengers,” she hissed.“Good morning, Mrs Conrad, how are we feeling today?” the nurse asked, smiling softly at her.Petal grunted, her eyes barely straying away from the garden view. “When do I get out of here. Because when I do, I will make sure that this is the last place you ever work in,” she growled. The nurse stood unwavering, smiling at the woman. “That is good to hear petal. I would love to see you leave,”Petal scowled at the woman who didn’t want to quiver. When people act like this, it means that they have a force behind them. The fear of the unknown tugged at he

SASHA’S POVTHE NEXT DAYHe was punishing me. I could feel it deep down in my soul. His touch wasn’t warm; it felt like ice on my skin, leaving frostbite in its trail. The most I saw of a reaction from him was when he was between my thighs.“Noah?” I called out, knocking on his door.Silence.The house has become haunted by the ghost of sorrows past. How do you have someone so close and yet they are so far away? Noah raised his head, his cold eyes staring at me with nothing in them. My steps faltered; my heart lodged in my throat.“I was thinking we could do something fun today,” I said, crossing my fingers behind my back, praying that he wouldn’t think I was being clingy and look at me wrong.“I just fucked you, Sasha,” he bit out.I winced, the words cutting through my chest, smearing pain through my veins. “Noah!” I blanched, my feet barely holding me up.He smirked, a cold look forming on his face, “Wife, I am just teasing,”The word wife felt poisoned, twisted in thorns. That hur

ROLAND’S POVIt was a dirty thing to do. But this felt like the right way to go about it. I watched as she writhed under me, her eyes dazed as her hands roamed my skin.“Noah,” she moaned, her head thrown back. She looked like a goddess, Aphrodite to be exact.I tried to fight it, the image of Roland's lips on hers. But when I had raced down to Nina’s apartment to meet Sasha, I found Roland, his hands on her face. She didn’t move. She leaned into his touch.I growled, my hips hammering harder into her. I was livid. She was dangerous, the way I let her play with my soul. That was dangerous. But yet, the minute her hand touched my skin, the way her lips wrapped around the vowels of my name. I lost it, hated myself for being weak. For kissing her.“Sasha,” I grunted, feeling my orgasm nearing. Her hands were on my black, her nails digging into my skin, tracing lines of pleasure on my back. She did it so well and so good that I became hooked on it. But I was all a game, some twisted thing

SASHA’S POV“What?”My voice sounded weaker than I wanted it to. My brows creased, wondering what game he was trying to play.I chuckled, “Okay, I get the joke. Can you leave now?” I hissed. Nina’s home was a hideout, yet he found a way to find me. Roland, I am sure that whatever it is that you drank will wear off in the next few hours. Now leave!”He wasn’t budging; rather, he stared at me with that twisted smile of his, looking at me like he had information that I didn’t know. “Why do you keep on fighting us, just to circle back to me each time?” he asked, taking a step closer to where I stood.I took a step back in reflex, “Roland, you are the one who came to seek me out. There is no boomerang or circling back to you,” My patience was already running thin. And the crazy part? He didn’t look like he was done with the bull crap that he had in his mind.I looked up to the ceiling, wondering what I had done to be blessed with such a great day. Note the sarcasm.“I know that we had our

ROLAND’S POVI tilted my head to the sky, breathing in the last breath of the calm before the storm. The sky had darkened, afraid of what was about to come. But that wasn’t the only thing I had in store for Noah Beck. No. This will be a ride of pain, betrayal and finally, realisation that he will always be the bastard.I had made my location known loudly. I wanted him to come to me, I didn’t want him to think about it. Impulsive Noah Beck is easier to ignite than the calculated one. And when I heard the shriek from the office, footsteps charging towards my door.I smiled, picking up my glass of bourbon, taking a sip as I watched my door tear out of its hinges. The sound echoed through the air, a gunshot for the race of anger that was about to be witnessed.I smiled, just like I had practised, “Noah!”He didn’t threaten, didn’t say a word. His fist reached out, knocking the air out of my lungs. I yelled, dropping the glass as I rushed to my feet. I blinked willing myself to look shocke

NOAH’S POVWho would have thought the big bad CEO was a coward?I couldn’t get over the fact that I was hiding out in the gym, trying to be away from the one person that I had a burning addiction to. Her question had been out of the blue, scaring and slapping me with a hard truth I never wanted to admit.I kept myself away from anything that reminded me of my past. And that meant, never saying the name of the woman who had broken the man I had been. It was just a name, but the minute she had asked, my throat had clogged up, my heart pounding in my chest. It was a miracle the sound hadn’t damaged her ears. When her voice swirled with doubt as she rose from the bed, my hands became stiff, making it hard to hold her back. When the door closed behind her, the air felt lighter, and I could breathe. I could move. And the minute my feet touched the floor, I dashed through the door, my mind fixed on escape.“You have to talk to her,” Troy said, his voice strained as he dropped the weight he w
