•Edward POV•

My eyes widened as they fell on Mrs. Ryder. She was standing there in the middle of the hospital lobby, her eyes red and watery, mascara streaked down her cheeks like she'd been crying for hours. She looked nothing like the woman who always wore pride, now she just looked... desperate.

I was tempted to ask what she was doing there, but the words wouldn't even form in my mouth.

“Edward,” she called out, her voice shaky. “Please, tell me... is Juliet okay? Did she really get into an accident?” Her sniffles came with every breath.

I blinked, still in shock. Of all people, she was the last person I expected to see. I rolled my eyes and turned away from her, walking back toward the receptionist and placing my hand on the counter. I didn’t say a word, just acted like she wasn’t even there.

The receptionist gave me a look full of sympathy and opened her mouth to speak, but Mrs. Ryder cut in, loud and sharp.

“Don’t you dare ignore me like that, Edward!” she snapped, loud enough f

•Edward POV•"I'm sorry, Mr. Miles, but I'm not sure I’ll be able to do this. I'm just an influencer. If this James Grigs, whom you spoke of, is this dangerous, then it could be the end of my career," Shannon said, her voice slightly shaky. My heart hammered in my chest as I heard those words. It felt like all the hope I’d held onto was crumbling right before my eyes."Shannon," I said gently, trying to keep my voice steady, "I know you're scared that this could affect your career, but I promise you, it won’t. Once people start talking about it, once it spreads, James won’t be able to touch you. He’ll only be looking for a way to hide. This could help so many people… please."She shook her head slowly, her expression torn. "I don't know what to say anymore, Mr. Miles. This is just too much to ask from me."Before I could respond again, Eric spoke up.“I understand you’re scared,” he said. “But think about how many people like Juliet might still be suffering in silence. If you stay sil

•Edward POV•After sitting in traffic for almost thirty minutes, Eric finally pulled into the parking lot of Echo Eleven. We got out of the car and made our way to the entrance. I took a deep breath, bracing myself for whatever was going to happen next, clinging onto the slightest hope that everything would work out the way we’d planned it.Eric glanced at the watch on his wrist as we stepped into the hallway. “I just hope Shannon is still around,” he muttered, looking around the quiet corridor.Though I felt a strange uneasiness about the situation, I didn’t bother to dwell on it. My mind was already juggling too many things at once, Juliet in the hospital, James and whatever stunt he might pull next, and whether Shannon would even agree to speak on Juliet’s behalf.“Mr. Lawson, what took you so long?” a voice called from the other side of the hall.Eric and I turned. Peter was standing there, talking to a woman with charcoal-black hair. We made our way toward him.“You’re fifteen mi

•Edward POV•Eric stepped forward and grabbed the knob to Vera's ward, pushing it open. The door creaked softly as we walked in. Vera was on the bed, in a similar position to Juliet, only that there weren't as many bandages on her body compared to Juliet.Eric rushed to her side and sat in the small space beside her, his eyes fixed on her face. He was silent, lost in thought. I walked over and sat on the small plush couch in the room, shoving my hands through my hair as I let out a slight breath. This is insane. I couldn’t help but blame myself. I should’ve known. Once James saw the video of Juliet talking about him and his so-called empire, he would do something, something bad. Why did I even agree to the idea of the livestream?“James did this,” Eric said angrily, like he could read my thoughts. He turned towards me. “I knew he’d eventually react to the livestream. But I didn’t think he’d take it this far.” I lifted my head from my palm and looked at him. I didn't know what to say,

•Edward POV•“Daddy, where is Mommy?”Jace’s voice rang in my ear, pulling me out of sleep. My eyes opened slowly, and I found him sitting beside me on the bed, his small hand resting on my chest.I reached for him and tried to pull him close, wanting him to lay on my chest, but he didn’t budge. His eyes were already full of tears as he looked around the room, confused and scared.I sighed, brushing a hand over my face, then ran my fingers gently through his hair and down to his cheek. His skin was warm and soft. The thought of telling him what had happened felt like a stone crushing my chest.“Hey, buddy, don’t cry,” I whispered, wiping his tears with the palm of my hand. His little sniffles broke the silence.“Where is Mommy?” he asked again, his blue eyes locked on mine, searching for an answer I didn’t want to give.I looked away for a moment, gathering the strength to speak. Then I looked back at him. “Jace… your mom’s not here right now,” I said softly. “She’s at the hospital.”H

•Edward POV•"Mr. Miles, we need to go home now," Eric said when he got to where I was. "There's no way we can see them today. The doctor suggested we go home and come back tomorrow."I shook my head, planting my hand on my waist. "No, Eric. I can't leave the hospital until I see Juliet. You can go without me. I'll wait here until she wakes up from the coma. I won't leave without seeing her."Eric sighed and shoved his hand through his hair. "I understand how you're feeling, Mr. Miles. But you have to go home to Jace. We’ll come tomorrow to see them."When he mentioned Jace, I looked at him, then glanced at the clock on the wall. It was already the middle of the night. A wave of pain swept through me as I wondered how Jace must be feeling, knowing we hadn’t come back yet.I looked at the elevator doors once more, hoping they'd open and a nurse would come tell me Juliet was awake… but nothing happened. Just silence. I looked back at Eric, who mirrored my expression, tired and sad. With
