Ignoring the stares around her, Hannah walked straight into the boutique next door.

The assistant there had seen everything and knew exactly how formidable this customer was. She didn't dare slack off for a second.

The moment Hannah stepped inside, she hurried over with a polished smile. "Welcome! How may I help you?"

Hannah looked around. The garments here seemed finer than those in the last shop, with more refined taste.

She picked one at random and tried it on. To her surprise, it fit as if it had been made for her.

The assistant's eyes widened as she watched Hannah wear it with such grace. "Madam, your figure is wonderful! This gown might have been tailored for you. You look like a famous model!"

Hannah only smiled faintly. She had always been confident in her figure and her looks. Otherwise, Lucas would never have pursued her so stubbornly and insisted on marrying her.

But when she looked back on it now, all she felt was bitterness. The sweetness was long gone, and only scars remained.

She pointed to several styles. "This one, this one, this one... and that one too. Find my sizes and wrap them all."

Her tone left no room for doubt.

The assistant was overjoyed. She hadn't expected such a decisive customer. "Madam, you truly want all of these?"

Hannah nodded.

The assistant's hands trembled with excitement as she tallied the total. A moment later she looked up, beaming. "Madam, that comes to the sum on this slip. Will you pay by card, or by crystal transfer?"

Hannah handed over her black card without hesitation. "The card."

The commission alone would be nearly twenty thousand crowns. The assistant accepted the card with both hands, finished the sale quickly, and returned the receipt and card.

In the neighboring shop, the assistant who had insulted Hannah had been watching in secret. Her face filled with resentment and regret.

She really is that rich! If I'd been kinder, every one of those sales would have been mine!

Only now did she see how foolish she had been.

Laden with bags, Hannah walked into a luxury boutique.

It was grand and lavish, and one glance told you everything in it was costly. It sold mainly handbags, and the shelves were lined with exquisite pieces.

They came from a famed house in the neighboring kingdom of Valmere, known for its fine design, rare materials and masterful craft. Throughout Eldermere, owning one of its bags was a symbol of status.

The moment Hannah stepped in, her eyes were drawn to a man of striking bearing and handsome looks.

He wore a bespoke suit by a master tailor, and everything about him spoke of wealth and rank. Two broad-shouldered guards stood behind him, along with an assistant in gold-rimmed glasses. Clearly he was no ordinary man.

As Hannah entered, he glanced up.

Her lovely, refined face, set off by her black dress, was full of grace.

A flicker of amazement crossed his eyes. He had passed the boutique earlier and seen her arguing with the assistant. He never imagined that, after changing, she would be such a stunning beauty.

Hannah noticed him watching her with open interest. Their eyes met, and a faint shock ran through her, as though she had been struck by lightning.

She told herself it was a coincidence and turned to the bags. She asked the nearest assistant, "Do you have any of the newest handbags?"

The assistant, sharp-eyed, noticed the price of Hannah's clothes at once. "Yes, Miss. Please follow me."

She led Hannah deeper into the shop.

Only after Hannah had vanished from sight did the man slowly turn his gaze away. A slight smile touched the corner of his lips.

"She really is an interesting woman..."

When Hannah had chosen all the bags and clothes she wanted, her stomach began to growl.

She used her crystal to call her guards and asked them to take the purchases to the carriage. Then she stopped at a restaurant and ordered a simple meal.

Once she had eaten her fill, she patted her stomach contentedly and glanced at the crystal on the table. It was almost nine in the evening.

She rose slowly and headed for the carriage yard.

In the carriage, she was silent for a while. Then she said to the guard in the driver's seat, "Let's drive around for a bit first."

She couldn't explain, even to herself, why she didn't want to go back to the Harrington house right away. Perhaps some deep part of her resisted going home.

When Edmund and Eleanor invited her, she had said she hoped to bring Lucas with her. But things change without warning. In less than a day, everything had turned upside down, and she felt lost.

Now she was trying to escape reality.

She sat quietly, looking out at the bustling streets of Eldermere, feeling completely adrift.

Then her gaze caught a lavishly decorated tavern by the roadside, alive with noise and light.

A thought leapt into her mind.

Yes. I want to drink.

I want to get thoroughly drunk.

Eleanor hesitated, but she agreed. "Well... in that case, I'll pack and go to Rosalind in a few days."Edmund cut in firmly. "There's no need to wait. We leave first thing tomorrow morning! The sooner we arrive, the sooner we can prepare. I can also use the trip to introduce Rosalind to the heir of the Smith family. She's so outstanding that if we form a bond with that house, it will greatly help the Harrington Group's expansion into foreign markets."Once she heard it touched the family's business, Eleanor stopped wavering. She gave Hannah an apologetic look and spoke softly."Hannah, Mom has to go away for a while. Focus on your studies while I'm gone. When I'm back, I'll spend much more time with you."Hannah smiled and nodded. "Okay, Mom. I'll study hard at home."Seeing how obedient and understanding her daughter was, Eleanor felt comforted. But Sebastian's face darkened. He frowned."Father, this heir of the Smith family. Do you mean Herbert Smith, the one tangled up in all thos

Night fell over the Harrington manor. In the great dining hall, a vast table was crowded with dishes that made the mouth water.Foie gras, caviar, black truffles, deep-sea tuna, king crab, Southern Isles lobster, prized highland beef...The finest delicacies from every corner of the world covered the table, their aromas curling through the air. The meal was worth more than an ordinary family earned in a year.Eleanor had spent the whole day leading Hannah around the island, and Hannah had been astonished a hundred times over. After seeing the Harringtons' extravagance, nothing surprised her anymore. No wonder people say the happiness of the rich is beyond imagination. If you're not happy, you simply aren't rich enough!Eleanor had also told her the truth about her sister, Rosalind.Rosalind was not Edmund and Eleanor's blood child. After Hannah was stolen, Eleanor wept day after day. She lost her appetite, her mind frayed, and eventually she fell into a very serious sickness of the sp

Inside the lift, Eleanor happily explained the layout."The second floor is your father's and my chamber. The third is Sebastian's. The fourth is Rosalind's. And the fifth is yours alone!"She squeezed Hannah's hand. "Everything is ready. If anything isn't to your liking, tell me, and I'll have a designer redo it."Hannah nodded. "I'll like whatever you and Dad arranged. There's nothing I'd change."The lift doors slid open, and a breath of luxury drifted out.Hannah stepped through into a magnificent entrance hall, as if she had walked into a palace. She stood frozen, stunned.Slowly she walked deeper in, and an enormous sitting hall opened before her. Its ceiling was painted with a glittering starry sky, casting a wondrous glow. The hall alone must have been over five thousand square feet. It held a lounge, a reception salon, a hall for entertainment, a small concert hall, a dining room, a tavern bar and a kitchen, every corner elegant and comfortable. The furniture was arranged wit

Edmund's face went dark and still, like a stagnant pool.Sebastian's words were not without sense. Hannah carried his blood, yet she had let herself be humiliated this far. She was hardly fit for any important task.If it had been Rosalind, she would have kept the Hales firmly in hand, and there would have been no divorce, no betrayal. In the end, it was because Hannah hadn't been raised at their side. She lacked experience and polish, and so she wasn't ready for the public eye.Eleanor frowned in thought, as if sharing the same worry.Seeing his father silent, Sebastian kept quiet too. He had already gotten what he wanted.Ha. She doesn't even know what she is. She has no ability and no education, and she still dreams of being loved by her parents. Dream on.Hannah's thoughts churned as she listened. She could see plainly that Sebastian harbored a deep hostility toward her. Her own brother did not want her in the family. His words were meant to drive a wedge between her and Edmund, t

Hannah looked around. The great hall was vast, bright and dazzling, every inch of it breathing grandeur. Her lips parted slightly, her face full of awe.Off to one side, Sebastian watched her with deep disdain.Ha. What an ignorant creature. If she weren't his parents' blood, he would never have wanted anything to do with someone of her station.Edmund and Eleanor had eyes only for their daughter, and didn't notice him.Hannah wandered across the hall, praising everything she saw."Mom, Dad, our home is so beautiful! It's so big, calling it a palace wouldn't be an exaggeration!"Eleanor smiled and stroked her hair. "Hannah, I've had the fifth floor decorated for you. Go up and see if you like it. If anything isn't to your taste, tell me, and your father and I will bring in a designer to redo it however you wish." Her voice overflowed with love.Hannah smiled. "Since you arranged it, I'll love it, whatever the style.""If you like it, that's all I need! If you like it, that's enough!"

Hannah stood stunned, unsure how to respond. Then the young man stepped forward and looked her over. A flash of disgust crossed his eyes and was gone in an instant."Father, Mother, is this my real sister?"Edmund and Eleanor nodded quickly."That's right, Sebastian. She is your sister."The young man showed no surprise. He gave a slight nod, his expression distant, his eyes cool and aloof. He extended his hand and spoke calmly."Hello. I'm Sebastian Harrington, your older brother. If calling me 'brother' feels too familiar, you may simply call me Sebastian."It was as stiff and formal as the opening of a business meeting. There was none of the warmth that should have existed between siblings.Hannah was puzzled by his manner. She hesitated, then politely shook his hand."Hello, Sebastian. I'm Hannah Winters..."Before she could finish, Edmund cut in. "Hannah, now that you're home with the Harringtons, it's time to introduce yourself differently."Her heart tightened, and she correcte
