Hannah's fingers moved slowly as she began to undo his shirt, soft and careful, as if she were unwrapping something precious.

As the fabric fell away, the strong lines of his body came into view. He looked like a statue carved by a master, every line speaking of strength.

Her breath quickened. Her fingers trembled.

Then the man's eyes snapped open.

They were confused, but sharp with wariness. He saw her above him, then glanced around at the unfamiliar room. His voice was ice.

"Who are you?"

Hannah's body went rigid. She hadn't expected him to wake so soon.

But his eyes were still hazy. The wine hadn't left him.

She didn't panic. She drew a slow breath and answered in a low, soft voice.

"Who I am doesn't matter. What matters is that tonight, I'm yours."

Her voice was full of mystery and allure, as if it could slip straight into his soul.

He stared at her lovely face, and a strange sense of déjà vu stirred in him. He lifted one large hand and brushed her cheek, feeling the warmth of her skin and breath.

It felt so real that he couldn't tell whether he was awake or dreaming.

His eyes darkened, and his voice turned husky. "You... you look like a fairy."

She smiled, dazzling. "Do you like it?"

His throat moved. "Mm."

She bent down and kissed him. The faint sweetness of her lips made his breath grow heavy.

His eyes burned. In the next moment, he pulled her down against him, and the air between them turned thick with heat.

The rest of the night passed in a blur of passion.

Morning light slipped through the window.

Hannah slowly opened her eyes and was struck at once by aches all over her body and a pounding head.

Then the memories came flooding back like a tide. She realized exactly how reckless she had been.

She turned her head carefully and looked at the man sleeping soundly beside her. Then she looked down at herself, and regret flooded her face.

Hannah, you wild, shameless thing...

She rubbed her temples to calm herself and crept out of bed, searching the floor for her scattered clothes.

Once dressed, she looked back at him, still asleep, and a strange feeling stirred in her. She felt like one of those faithless scoundrels who vanish the moment the night is over. It left her guilty and confused, yet she also knew that last night had been beyond her control.

She stood still, thinking.

Should I slip away as if nothing happened? Or stay and face him, and confess everything?

After a fierce struggle, she drew a deep breath.

Let me leave first.

She walked softly to the door, opened it, and slipped out, leaving behind a man still lost in sleep and a room full of silence...

The two guards were already waiting outside. They bowed at once.

"Good morning, Miss! Breakfast is ready. Shall we serve it now?"

Hannah hushed them with a sharp gesture, afraid of waking the man. She glanced nervously at the door, then seized both guards by the arm and hurried away.

After a while she finally breathed out. Only then did she notice she was still in yesterday's clothes, and they smelled of wine.

She frowned. "Get me another room. I need clean clothes. Bring breakfast there, and once I've eaten, take me back to the Harrington house."

The guards obeyed without a word and worked quickly. Soon she stood in another clean, comfortable room.

She closed the door, went into the bathing chamber, and slowly undressed.

In the mirror, her body had lovely curves and smooth, delicate skin, with a soft glow. But when she saw the red and purple marks scattered across it, her cheeks flushed.

They looked like brands, and they brought back the wildness of the night. Every detail rose in her mind, vivid and impossible to push away. Her heart raced and her face burned.

She closed her eyes and tried to bury the memory deep, but it clung to her like a stubborn vine.

She could still feel a lingering warmth on her skin, as if her body wanted to remind her how real it had been.

She drew a deep breath and steadied herself.

She knew that these memories would become her secret, and would fade with time.

But for now, she wanted to keep that shyness and recklessness to herself, as a memory that was hers alone.

Eleanor hesitated, but she agreed. "Well... in that case, I'll pack and go to Rosalind in a few days."Edmund cut in firmly. "There's no need to wait. We leave first thing tomorrow morning! The sooner we arrive, the sooner we can prepare. I can also use the trip to introduce Rosalind to the heir of the Smith family. She's so outstanding that if we form a bond with that house, it will greatly help the Harrington Group's expansion into foreign markets."Once she heard it touched the family's business, Eleanor stopped wavering. She gave Hannah an apologetic look and spoke softly."Hannah, Mom has to go away for a while. Focus on your studies while I'm gone. When I'm back, I'll spend much more time with you."Hannah smiled and nodded. "Okay, Mom. I'll study hard at home."Seeing how obedient and understanding her daughter was, Eleanor felt comforted. But Sebastian's face darkened. He frowned."Father, this heir of the Smith family. Do you mean Herbert Smith, the one tangled up in all thos

Night fell over the Harrington manor. In the great dining hall, a vast table was crowded with dishes that made the mouth water.Foie gras, caviar, black truffles, deep-sea tuna, king crab, Southern Isles lobster, prized highland beef...The finest delicacies from every corner of the world covered the table, their aromas curling through the air. The meal was worth more than an ordinary family earned in a year.Eleanor had spent the whole day leading Hannah around the island, and Hannah had been astonished a hundred times over. After seeing the Harringtons' extravagance, nothing surprised her anymore. No wonder people say the happiness of the rich is beyond imagination. If you're not happy, you simply aren't rich enough!Eleanor had also told her the truth about her sister, Rosalind.Rosalind was not Edmund and Eleanor's blood child. After Hannah was stolen, Eleanor wept day after day. She lost her appetite, her mind frayed, and eventually she fell into a very serious sickness of the sp

Inside the lift, Eleanor happily explained the layout."The second floor is your father's and my chamber. The third is Sebastian's. The fourth is Rosalind's. And the fifth is yours alone!"She squeezed Hannah's hand. "Everything is ready. If anything isn't to your liking, tell me, and I'll have a designer redo it."Hannah nodded. "I'll like whatever you and Dad arranged. There's nothing I'd change."The lift doors slid open, and a breath of luxury drifted out.Hannah stepped through into a magnificent entrance hall, as if she had walked into a palace. She stood frozen, stunned.Slowly she walked deeper in, and an enormous sitting hall opened before her. Its ceiling was painted with a glittering starry sky, casting a wondrous glow. The hall alone must have been over five thousand square feet. It held a lounge, a reception salon, a hall for entertainment, a small concert hall, a dining room, a tavern bar and a kitchen, every corner elegant and comfortable. The furniture was arranged wit

Edmund's face went dark and still, like a stagnant pool.Sebastian's words were not without sense. Hannah carried his blood, yet she had let herself be humiliated this far. She was hardly fit for any important task.If it had been Rosalind, she would have kept the Hales firmly in hand, and there would have been no divorce, no betrayal. In the end, it was because Hannah hadn't been raised at their side. She lacked experience and polish, and so she wasn't ready for the public eye.Eleanor frowned in thought, as if sharing the same worry.Seeing his father silent, Sebastian kept quiet too. He had already gotten what he wanted.Ha. She doesn't even know what she is. She has no ability and no education, and she still dreams of being loved by her parents. Dream on.Hannah's thoughts churned as she listened. She could see plainly that Sebastian harbored a deep hostility toward her. Her own brother did not want her in the family. His words were meant to drive a wedge between her and Edmund, t

Hannah looked around. The great hall was vast, bright and dazzling, every inch of it breathing grandeur. Her lips parted slightly, her face full of awe.Off to one side, Sebastian watched her with deep disdain.Ha. What an ignorant creature. If she weren't his parents' blood, he would never have wanted anything to do with someone of her station.Edmund and Eleanor had eyes only for their daughter, and didn't notice him.Hannah wandered across the hall, praising everything she saw."Mom, Dad, our home is so beautiful! It's so big, calling it a palace wouldn't be an exaggeration!"Eleanor smiled and stroked her hair. "Hannah, I've had the fifth floor decorated for you. Go up and see if you like it. If anything isn't to your taste, tell me, and your father and I will bring in a designer to redo it however you wish." Her voice overflowed with love.Hannah smiled. "Since you arranged it, I'll love it, whatever the style.""If you like it, that's all I need! If you like it, that's enough!"

Hannah stood stunned, unsure how to respond. Then the young man stepped forward and looked her over. A flash of disgust crossed his eyes and was gone in an instant."Father, Mother, is this my real sister?"Edmund and Eleanor nodded quickly."That's right, Sebastian. She is your sister."The young man showed no surprise. He gave a slight nod, his expression distant, his eyes cool and aloof. He extended his hand and spoke calmly."Hello. I'm Sebastian Harrington, your older brother. If calling me 'brother' feels too familiar, you may simply call me Sebastian."It was as stiff and formal as the opening of a business meeting. There was none of the warmth that should have existed between siblings.Hannah was puzzled by his manner. She hesitated, then politely shook his hand."Hello, Sebastian. I'm Hannah Winters..."Before she could finish, Edmund cut in. "Hannah, now that you're home with the Harringtons, it's time to introduce yourself differently."Her heart tightened, and she correcte
